2007 Jeep Patriot owner complaints

Front ball joint replacement on a 2007 Jeep patriot with 26300 miles. Jeep was neve off-road. Just out of warranty and fighting with Jeep to get reimbursment. Just cost me $760.00 to replace both ball joints. *tr

Ball joints/control arms on 07 Jeep patriot are a safety issue. My car will not pass inspection because they are flapping in the breeze. I have to somehow come up with 1300.00 at xmas time for my car to pass, and I have no clue how. This is a known issue. Bought my 2007 Jeep patriot in august of '11. Took the vehicle to a mechanic on december 6th for routine oil change. He informed me that the ball joints and control arms would need replacing immediately to ensure the safety of my vehicle. We bought the vehicle with 29,000 miles on it, it is now at 34,000 and two months after the limited warranty has expired. *tr

Seat slider & ball joints Jeep patriot 2007 4x4 & rear suspension---reported seat coming out of locked position after having to hit break a little hard in forward and also happened in reverse. Made 3 complaints to the same dealer and finally had it replaced. Reported to same dealer about noise in the front and rear of car, after having to replace all 4 tires at 19,000 miles because they were bald. Dealer said nothing was wrong however young lad that installed tires said ball joints were loose and rear end was seized. Never been off road and commute to work is 10 miles one way on expressway. Included is complaint about tires, goodyear 205/70r16 all season. Lasted 19,000 miles and all were bald. Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Jeep patriot. The contact stated that the lower ball joints were damaged and causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The dealer was contacted who advised that they were aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic for repairs to the front end alignment, both front tires and the lower ball joints. The current and failure mileage was approximately 52,345. Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Jeep patriot. The contact stated that the front cross member was severely corroded with holes. The rear driver side cross member detached. The entire frame cross member was cracked behind the rear driver side axle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the cross member was corroded and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 243,765.

2007 Jeep patriot. Consumer writes regarding problems with control arms, ball joints and sensors having to be replaced. *tgw the consumer was informed two different types of metals were used and when put together, it caused corrosion. Also, all four tires had to be replaced. *jb

Took my 2007 Jeep patriot in for a oil change, was told that the tie rod's were very lose. The mechanic did not want me to drive it home for fear of the tie rods breaking lose and causing me to crash. My warranty has expired and I did not have the 700.00 to fix it. Problem was isolated on a routine oil change. I had noticed handling problems coming down hill and applying brakes earlier in the month. Dealer says both front tie rod ends are shot, as well as lower right ball joint and control arm. They want $600 to repair it. I have researched this and it can cause rapid tire wear, or loss of control. The failure is apparently endemic with Jeep patriots, as I have found many complaints from other owners as frequent as every 12k miles on the Jeep patriot online forum. Some owners have almost lost control of their car. Some owners have reported multiple failures. I have never had a car which required a tie rod or control arm, let alone at 32k miles. This has happened twice now in 3 days. After fully filling my fuel tank and then driving away from the pump my Jeep patriot stalls before I hit 3/10 of a mile from the gas station. Contrary to some other reports of this issue, that I have read, as well as the explanation of the issue posted on the NHTSA website, from fca, this does not happen only at idle. Rather it happens while I am driving. When my Jeep stalls I also lose the ability to fully steer (can only turn the wheel appx 1/4 turn) and braking does not work as well as it normally does. When it happened today I ended up mounting a curb and sidewalk in a residential area. The street I was on was turning but I couldn't turn with it. If I had not engaged the emergency/parking brake I would have driven through a chain link fence

Vehicle has had stalling issues following refueling for several years now. Aside from after refueling the stalling is unpredictable as for timing. Sometimes it stalls immediately after refueling and starting the engine, other times it will stall after I'm already in traffic several minutes later. This creates a significant safety hazard.

Car stalls after filling up tank. Started doing this 3 fill ups ago. Different gas stations. Gas tank is not "topped off". Stalling occurs for the next few miles or 10 minutes of use. Car is fine after that. Stalling occurs when RPM is under 1000 and does this when stopped or slowing down to make a turn. Added "heet" to tank, thinking water may have gotten in there from the gas station. Ruled that out after using a different gas station. Car has 130,000 miles on it. I have owned it since it had 30,000 miles on it.

When filling gas tank the car stalls and any time when driving . This is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic, this has happened mant times!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Jeep stalls every time after I fill it with gas, I pull out in traffic and it just stalls and I have no control over steering or nothing. It is extremely dangerous.

I have owned my 2007 Jeep patriot since june 2017. About 3 months into owning it I have noticed that it will stall directly after I fill my gas tank. After I leave the gas station, I notice that the Jeep starts to rattle and slow down, and while this is happening my steering wheel locks up and I am unable to turn and accelerate. This has happened about 10 times so far, and the most recent occurrence (12/11/17) it stalled 3 times within 5 minutes before the problem went away. There are no lights that warn me of this on the dash, making this a serious issue that could cause an accident if I were to be on a highway or busy intersection.

I bought my 2007 Jeep patriot brand new and it has been nothing but problems ever since. Today is the final straw and something needs to be done to Chrysler. Everytime I press the brakes to stop, my engine stalls out. This problems frequency seems to have increased since it is raining. My patriot has stalled previously throughout the years but they were isolated incidences or so I thought. After reading Jeep forums online, I see this is a recurring problem which Jeep is not addressing. This is a major safety hazard as I live in a highly congested area. Stalling on the expressway or in the middle of an intersection can lead to accidents and I am concerned about my safety. This isn't the only problem I have had with this car. After getting gas. Vehicle stalls while running in drive without warning . This is going to kill someone pulling into traffic!! It takes about 3 startups and stalls than there is no issue until next gas fill up:

Every time I fill up with gas the car makes it to the first stop sign and then just dies. I start it up and start to drive it and it dies again. I have to sit in one spot and keep trying to drive hoping it won't die and I will get hit.

The vehicle stalls when slowing to a stop. It is not during every stop but more likely to occur after refueling the car. On the first incident in october 2014, I had driven home from work (35+ miles) and when slowing to a stop at a light the vehicle stalled. It easily restarted and returned to normal. Since then the driving issues have increased to RPM decreases while driving on a highway ' the engine kicks/jerks the car and returns to normal driving.
