Vehicle has been to Kia dealership 3 times for ESC light staying on. First time they said it was ok, next 2 times the switch was replaced. Works for a while then malfunctions again. ESC light stays on, cruise will not work, and sometimes the brake lights will stay on. Vehicle now has 71000 miles and light is still on. After researching the web, located a recall on this similar problem, 09v130000 is the number. Called Kia customer service and they said this VIN # is not in the recall, yet its the same exact complaint as the recall. Recall said it can lead to a crash. Any help would be appreciated. *tr

When driving through a puddle of standing water in october 2012, a 'splash' of water entered the engine compartment caused the engine in my 2007 Kia sportage to stall, resulting in the loss of power assist to both steering and brakes. This occurred several times in 2012 and 2013. But, in 2014, it has happened much more often. Enough to force me to take my sportage into a Kia dealership to see if they could diagnose the problem. They tried to recreate the problem using a hose, since they did not wish to have their employees try to drive it in actual rain. They were not successful in making the car stall. Therefore, I was told that there is no problem with the engine. Recently, I have learned that the ignition coil is what is getting wet and stalling the car. If Kia is willing to repl

All wheel brake parts were replaced except for brake lines. Within two weeks the brakes at the drivers side front and passenger side rear froze and the car would not move even in neutral? The only way to get those wheels brakes to release was to open the individual bleeder and push it by hand using only the emergancy brake to stop it in the garage. Jacked up in the rear the passenger side rear would lock up when the brake pedal was pushed. Once bleeder opened wheel would turn but lock up when pedal once again pushed. The Kia forum online reports this happening on various Kia and huyandia vehicles over several years and models! The vehicle locked up while stationary at a stop light! The only reported fix on the forum was replacement of a leaking master cyclinder into the brake booster. I re

Drivine on road approx speed 35 miles per hour and experienced burning smell. The temperature gauge immediately went from the middle of the gauge to hot. I pulled out of the road as soon as this happened and the steering wheel locked up. I exited the vehicle immediately as there were large billows of smoke coming from the engine . There was fire under the right front side of the vehicle. I called 911 who sent the local fire department. The car was completely in flames within 2 minutes and it took the fire department approximately 10 minutes to arrive and put out the flames. My 07 sportage had developed a mysterious creak noise when accelerating from a stop and going over batches and bumps(which I ignored). This progressed into a rather loud clunk going over bumps that you could also feel in the floorboards. This prompted me to take a look see as to the source of the noise. Turns out, the source of the noise was due to the rear chassis crossmember that mounts the upper trailing arms for the rear axle assembly had rotten clean through and the mounting arm on the right side had broken free. Here you can see the remnants of the crossmember and mounting bracket still bolted to the rear axle assembly; the damage was across the entire crossmember including the fuel tank mount and note the left side trailing arm mount was not too far away from breaking off as well
