I lost complete control of steering of my Lincoln while driving ( no steering whatsoever) and fortunately the direction of the car was heading toward the shoulder of the turnpike. And I got off the road onto shoulder. Scary!! This car was recalled twice for the steering shaft and was to have been repaired. Or was it!?? This could have been a major accident, with loss of steering!! Ford needs to stand behind this incident and cover the cost of repairs!! How many others with Lincoln towncars have crashed with loss of steering and never lived to tell their story!!

Unintended/Unexpected acceleration, even while brake pedal is pressed. Happens intermittently. Most scary time for me happened in Publix parking lot at crosswalk for pedestrians. I thought I was going to hit the pedestrians. There are two drivers for this car and has happened to both of us. Just now, [XXX] around [XXX] it happened again when the other driver was driving out of Subway parking lot near St. Johns river into right lane of 3 lanes of traffic near an intersection with a car tuning left right in front of us. Very scary and glad no collision. No, to dealer or independent service dealer question. No, to the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others question No, to the warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem question INFORMATION REDA
On the ventura freeway in heavy traffic on nov 6,2008. Driving at about 30 miles per hour, traffic made it necessary to stop. The car, as it has done before, had unintended acceleration. This was about the fifth or sixth time it has happened in one year of my owning the car. The other times it happened, I had brought it back to the dealer and they replaced transmission parts the first time but thereafter could not determine the problem in fact they had given me a type of computer to attach while I was driving so that if it did happen it would record some facts that would help them determine the cause. This computer stayed on for about two weeks a couple of months ago but it did not happen at that time. The week before nov 6, 2008, the computer, was again put on my car. So now I was

suspension 1 complaint shown
My car had 94,106 miles then the repair was made. The front end was handling poorly and I knew the coil over strut assembly would need replacing. When my mechanic performed the work they called and asked me if I tried to work on the front suspension of my car and I told them 'no', as I have no tools or experience to do such work. I asked why they wanted to know and the mechanic informed that my upper ball joints were fractured and cross threaded. I wanted to know how it could happen and they could not give me answer (they speculate this was a factory assembly mistake) as the coil over strut should not be cross threaded, that is why they wanted to know if I did something to the car. Lincoln town cars with the coil over strut front suspension are bad for falling apart and this applies t
