2007 Mercedes-Benz S-Class owner complaints

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Mercedes-benz s550. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle leaked fuel. There was a strong odor of fuel inside and outside of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was currently at knoxville Mercedes-benz (10131 parkside dr, knoxville, tn 37922, (865) 777-2222) awaiting diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manfacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,500.

Two days after taking car into service it started on fire in the engine compartment while parked. No indication when driving for day and half after service. Insurance has declared a total loss.

While driving on a very populated interstate may car lost power and was stuck in one gear and I nearly got hit from behind by another vehicle. Mercedes told me that my conductor plate failed and this was the cause of my transmission slipping from one gear to a very low gear. In my opinion this is very dangerous for our roads and I think that they should be responsible and make this problem go away before someone or multiple people get hurt.

Takata recall- I took my vehicle into park place Mercedes arlington in dallas, tx to get a diagnostic on my comand unit radio. The cd/dvd player would read the name of the disc but would not play it. An error message comes on that says disc error. I figured something on the inside may be dirty and just needs to be clean as the discs were readable by the comand unit. The service tech said that the whole unit needs to be replaced and they can't repair it. $1800 for the repair on the same exact unit. An outdated unit that doesn't even have the newest technology. I feel like Mercedes vehicles are too expensive not to be able to repair their parts and having to replace everything. Mercedes needs to look into their comand units and consider a recall on these radios.

Takata recall-I took my vehicle into park place Mercedes of arlington in dallas, tx to get a diagnostic on why my panoramic sunroof would not open. I thought it could be repaired but service tech told me that the whole roof would have to be replaced. I feel like these cars are too expensive for parts not to be able to be repaired and have to be replaced. The shade goes back and forth, just the glass won't open, I don't understand why the whole roof has to be replaced. It sounds like an internal defect and I don't feel like I should have to pay for a whole new roof because of one part of it won't open up. Mercedes needs to look into a recall for this situation on panoramic roofs.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the computer. The contact also heard a rattling noise while driving, which came from the seat and arm rest. The dealer replaced the plastic in the arm rest. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 1,100.

Worn timing sprocket and balance shaft was defective when I purchase the vehicle in 2011. Mercedes benz knew about this defective part and did not inform me. The vehicle had 46000 miles on it at the time. If I was inform about this problem I wouldn't have bought it. I believe this is a violation of the consumer protection act. *tr

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three separate occasions for the same failures, but there were no resolutions. The engine was recoded. Recently, the engine stalled and the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning indicator remained lit until the engine was turned off. The contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was 150 and current mileage was 11,312.

The vehicle was not taken to a Mercedes-benz dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. In repeated incidents, depressing the accelerator in my 2007 Mercedes benz s600 had no effect. I was, for example, left adrift in heavy freeway traffic, with semi-trailers whizzing by and no way to accelerate--pure inertia was carrying the car forward. Mercedes benz's largest northern california dealer, autobahn, was unable to fix the problem for months, even after advising me that they were "confident" that the problem had been fixed. I still do not know whether they were able to fix the, and the fact that they could not determine their cause gives rise to substantial concern that the problem exists in other s class vehicles. These problems recurred for months. The fact that no one was killed or injured is just blind luck, and one incident occurred with my two young children in the car. U

Error code p0019 cam sensor bank b, manufacturers used defective part that timing sprocket teeth have eroded due to defective parts used which have and will cause vehicle to stahl while running. Both front struts wear on all models that cause driving conditions that can cause death while driver excelration or stopping cause

Struts and braking system have been unstable since I purchased the car. Wiring harness leaks oil and caused ecu to intermintinli turn off and on. Also the heat control timing caused car to over heat . Eventually I replaced the ecu 2 years ago at dealer . Mercedes has parts that are not safe to be in these operating conditions with such heat causeing wiring harness to short out and dealer said that and still put new ecu saying it was oil that damaged ecu. Mechanicly didn’t make sense but now due to recall it all makes sense. Ecu was never programmed correctly causeing unsafe driving hazards .

Vehicle becomes stuck in gear while driving down the road. Will not shift, sometimes you don't have enough power to move quickly. For example vehicle was stuck in 6th gear after leaving the highway. I could not accelerate to move the car. I had to shut the car off to reset the computer to get the car out of 6th gear. This has happened at least 10 times over the past 3 month period. Many other owners of this car have experienced the same transmission failure and that is very dangerous because the car lose power when it is stuck in a gear. The only way to fix the problem is to shut off the car and restart it. Mercedes benz should be held responsible for this issue.

Sudden esp failure on 2007 Mercedes e 350 4 matic on sept 12, 2006 which was purchased on aug 03, 2006. The vehicle has been in hbl Mercedes tysons corner, vienna va for repair since sept 13, 2006. The car has been in the shop for repair 23 consecutive days as of today (oct 05, 2006) may be other owners have to be aware of problems and inability of Mercedes to repair to date....*jb
