My 2007 Saturn sky with 81,000 miles on it displayed "service air bag", took it to gm dealer who diagnosed it as a passenger presence system (pps) fault and said the cost for repair would be $1000+. I paid them their diagnostic time ($105) and elected to repair myself. Removal of passenger seat bottom cover indicated a break in the flexible circuit pad which detects passenger presence. Cost for replacement seat cushion assembly (includes pps) from gm is over $400 but still cheaper than paying dealer for this work. This is discussed all over the internet and a common issue with the sky & solstice and gm recalls have been made on other vehicles having similar issues (ie: Cadillac cts) but gm refuses to issue a recall on the sky or solstice. This is a very costly repair for such an important

This is a 2007 Saturn Sky base. The GM recall is # 17036. Every time I contact a GM dealer for getting this recall taken care of, I am told they cannot get the parts, or that there is NOT any recall on this vehicle ! The first notice I rec'd for this recall is dated April 2017. I WANT TO GET THIS DONE AND TAKEN CARE OFZ. THIS has gone on long enough !!!

Dashboard message center indicating a "service air bag" message when car is started. Receive the message every time key is turned on... I understand from other owners of the Saturn sky this is a common issue related to the passenger side seat sensor. Gm will not cover the cost to replace the sensor, even though it is a part of the vehicle safety system. The failure of this component should not be considered a normal "wear and tear" component and/or a periodic maintenance issue. Gm has issued recalls on other gm models with the same or similar issues, so why not the Saturn sky. It seems gm needs government intervention and/or lawsuits, before it will take action. As a sky owner I should not have to be concerned whether or not my air bag will deploy, due to a defect in a safety system. A

Air bag warning light came on, and disappeared while at a red light in a period of about ~1 minute. After passenger sat in the car, air bag warning light came on again for a short period of about five minutes and off again. Passenger air bag indicator at the time when alert came on was noted as off state, all other time when passenger is present, indicator is noted as on state. After driving a while ~20minutes, air bag warning light came on and this time it stayed on, passenger airbag indicator is in off state. Upon restarting the car/engine. Warning light disappeared however, after short minutes it came back on, and now the air bag warning light has been on for over 3 days. Passenger in or not, indicator is in off state. These cars have a problem with the passenger seat sensor, which turns on and off the passenger side airbag. While gm did issue a recall about a year ago, the parts used were a simple "band-aid" fix. My car was repaired a little over a year ago, and has done 5000 miles since, and the "repaired" part has failed again. Gm is refusing to fix this under recall and/or warranty and the cost to fix this is $1000! This is a safety issue, and it should be covered, or the recall should be active once again! Absolutely ridiculous! This is a common problem with other Saturn sky and Pontiac solstice owners as well.

Passenger presence module went bad. Trips the air bag sensor to go off and can only be reset by dealer. Airbag will not deploy when a passenger is in the seat in an event of an accident. This has been a known safety issue for years.

2007 Saturn sky redline sitting at an idle passenger sat down in the seat and service airbag light illuminated, dic showed "service airbag system", passenger airbag indicator light showed off. Upon taking to dealer problem was determined to be the passenger presence system (pps) sensor failed. The sensor failed do to the flexing of the sensor as passengers got in and out of the vehicle not from neglect by the owner. The total is $1125.00 with part shipping install and zeroing of new the sensor. This is a very common problem with the Saturn sky and Pontiac solstice, there has been reports of the replacement sensors failing in as little as a year. When this part fails the passenger side airbag will not deploy causing a significant rise in the potential injury of the passenger during a crash
