2007 Suzuki Forenza owner complaints

Googled on website, and found lots of people complained that the transmission range sensor is broken prematurely, which clearly indicate the such part is a defective one. My such claim was also supported by what technician told me who fixed my car as they are authorized Suzuki service dealership. He told me there is around 4-5 fix for this part out of this model around this mileage. My car is still under powertrain warranty, but this part is excluded from such coverage. Suzuki should recall this part and fix the problem for free of charge. *tr

Car loses power during highway driving. Seems to jump to neutral. Loss of speed and at the same time the engine will rev and RPM's will increase. This happens mostly on highway, sometimes on streets. This never happens when accelerating from a stop. This happened for weeks without a check engine light indicator on. When the light came on the mechanic said the codes(p0700 and p0705) indicate a transmission sensor issue which is not covered under warranty. Mechanic said that there is a technical services bulletin on the issue but not a recall. There are blogs and other complaints on this issue on the internet. I contacted Suzuki american headquarters and they claim to have no knowledge of this issue. This a potentially dangerous issue that needs to be addressed. *tr

Transmission would sometimes slip what feels like neutral (no power) while in drive. Other times transmission would stay in drive and would not down shift auto or manual. Frequency is increasing. Cost at dealer is financially prohibitive at this time. Research indicates problem is common to this and prior year manufacture. *tr

The transmission sensor went out on my 2007 forenza at 77000 miles. This also happened to my sisters 2006 forenza at 50000 miles. The warranty says it covers engine and transmission but when we took it to the dealer, they informed us that the transmission sensor is not covered. I have done significant research and this seems to be extremely common among Suzuki cars. *tr

I have a 2007 forenza and yesterday as I was putting the car into reverse, it made a loud clunking noise. The gear selector display on the dash seemed to go haywire displaying all the letters (d, r, n, etc) with a diagonal line through it. It then went back to normal, then the "check engine" light came on. This morning as I was getting ready to take the car to autozone, it did not make any noise. They hooked up the diagnostic computer and it came up with codes po700 and po705, which varies in wording but seems like it's the transmission range sensor. *tr

The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the transmission range sensor would need to be replaced. The transmission range sensor had been replaced twice before the most recent diagnosis. The manufacturer had not been notified of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer advised the contact that the transmission range switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 69,108.

When operating in drive position the vehicle went into neutral with loss of traction, drive power could only be restored by selecting drive position 3. There were several subsequent occurrences of the problem one of which nearly resulted in a rear end collision. A transmission repair shop diagnosed a neutral safety / transmission position switch failure. This appears to be a repeating complaint theme with this vehicle model. The occurrence is unnerving and could result in severe (potentially fatal) consequences. *tr

Air Bag light came on in the Dash, also passenger seat belt not on light came on in the clock. I took the car to Planet Automotive Group here in Charlotte, they ran a Diagnostic on the vehicle and found a b1448 code for passenger seat mat defect. I called the manufacture at [XXX] talked to a person named [XXX], I was told this is no longer under warranty and they could not help. I disagreed with her, told her this was a very serious safety issue and they should help with the cost of replaced/repair. Was told sorry. Passenger air bag light on dashboard is continually on. The dealer says that the fault lies in the bottom seat cushion and sensing apparatus. A replacement costs over $900. The dealer said that if the warning light is on the air bag may not function in the event of a crash. The dealer also said that this has been an issue on forenza's. *tr

Passenger air bag doesn't longer turn on when a passenger is sitting on the passenger side sit and the air bag warning light on the dashboard is always on. I have taking this issue to many dealers and the system work for around only 2 week and then the issue comes back and the warning light turn on again and passenger airbags does not longer work again. *tr

On 12/3/08 @ 12:30 a.m., my 2007 Suzuki forenza caught fire resulting in a total loss. I've contacted Suzuki & I'm awaiting there return call. The fire marshall ruled out arson & concluded that the origin of the fire was underneath the hood resulting from electrical wiring in the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle in may of 2008 & I've never had a problem since the purchase. On 12/2/08, I drove the vehicle once in the morning & then again in the evening. Both trips were short distances. On the evening/early morning of 12/3/08 I woke up to my car engulfed in flames. *tr

I have had to repair so much on this car in such a short amount of time, I am going nuts...almost every month its something else! I have had blown head gaskets, replaced broken door handles (they broke again), chipping paint (for no reason), brake light switch system, now the transmission range sensor is bad. To replace the tires, the cheapest you can find is $130/tire new. I am out of thousands of dollars when the care was supposed to be under warranty and "americas best powertrain" but everything in the car that is going bad, isn't covered! The items that are faulty on this 2007 Suzuki forenza are the paint on the outside door handles, and the inside door latches. I bought this 2007 Suzuki forenza car brand new and within one (1) year, I had to replace 2 of my door handle latches inside because they broke off. Not long after that, my other two latches broke. In the 1st year, the paint on the door handles began to wear off. When I first had my door repaired, I was told by the Suzuki repair shop representative, that the breaking latches was a common complaint with this particular model . *tr

My check engine light came on after I placed the car in reverse, it gave a big "thunk" sound. I turned the car off and restarted it. The check engine light is still on. When I went to the dealership to get a diagnosis and they said it was a transmission range sensor gone bad! $250 to replace. As you can see that there are a lot of customer complaints on the same issue but no recall. I have already had the brake light sensor replaced earlier this year and a power steering pump! The power windows actuators continue to "actuate" on their own, sounding as though the car is locking or unlocking several times in a row while driving or parked. The lock itself doesn't move during this commotion. Another issue was when I had pressed the brake, my car made a thunk and revved as though it was in neutral. When I tried to go again, the car took a few minutes to even go above second gear and the check engine light came on and stayed on. Now, my car will sound as though it isn't in gear at speeds of 55-60 MPH! This scares me! Then the dash gear indicator flashes and can't figure out what gear its in when I'm driving, whether it's back roads or freeways. Very frightening. *tr
