Bought my fj new in 2007.when I did I asked if they had rusty jones or undercoating and was told with the new alloys I didnt need it. 3 weeks ago I was having my mechanic check the brakes and he called me down to show me a break in the frame connecting to the body.thankfully he found it because I was supposed to go to boston the next day. The truck only has 139,000 miles on it and the frame is completely rusted out so its not safe to drive.I brought it to the dealer I purchased it from and 2 reps came down from nh to look at who basically told me I had a good ride with it and they would do nothing.I then called Toyota cec and was told the same. I brought to a welder who specializes in this type of work and was told 5000+ in labor alone and thats without seeing under the gas tan

My son was driving home from school when he heard a rattle/bang when he took a corner or went over a bump. He told me about the noise as soon as he got home. We took the fj out for a drive and I heard the noise coming from the driver's side. Upon inspecting the exterior drivers side I found that the left side, rear trailing arm mounting point and a section of the fj's frame, had torn away from the frame. The trailing arms was not floating, unattached. We are very luck that the trailing did not drop while my son was driving home, as it would have been driven into the pavement, possibly causing a catastrophic accident. I have called Toyota corporate, who can provide not solution on how to repair this issue. Again, I am lucky my son was on secondary roads and not the highwa

During 2019-2020 state inspection of 2007 fj cruiser with 78000 miles by dealer was told that frame is so rusted that it probably would not pass the next inspection. Explanation given was that Toyota does not make their frames as thick as other makes. This vehicle was used as a daily driver, not much off-road and no serious off-roading. I work from home, so most years less than 5000 miles driven. Also have had to replace front brake calipers for the past 3 years.

New 2007 Toyota fj cruiser, purchase on 10/26/2007 on nov 7th a truck threw a rock and it put a 2 1/2" diameter crack on the passengers side. Two weeks later got an estimate $268.00 from windshield doctor/napa the very next day another rock chip just under the rearview mirror. Said if it breaks this easy no use getting a new windshield, then about 2 weeks later a rock chip on the drivers side. On 12/16/07, the first crack spread from one side to the other across the lower 1/3 of the windshield. Today 12/17 went and got another estimate from a different shop to see if price would be lower for a new windshield and its $415.00 without my deduct and $350.00 with my deductible. This is ridiculous we have not even had the fj 8 weeks and the windshield has been chipped 3 times already. What a po

Windshield wipers have failed to work for long periods or have to play with switch to work right. Took car in years ago while under warranty to fix and resolved problem for a few years but is now reoccurring. Also drivers side door window switch intermittenly works. I dont know if this is connected to wiper switch but have seen recalls on other toyotas that have this problem and had a recall but none for fj. Specifics turn on car, turn on slector switch for wipers "slow thru high it dont matter". Wipers dont work.

I was driving down the road when the rear differential broke in my rear axle. I took the vehicle to a local dealership where I was and the warranty was denied. I fixed the vehicle with after market parts and filed a claim with the manufacture only to get denied again. Took the vehicle to a local dealership when I got home and they said they would have fixed it under warranty. *tr

This is a complaint upon Toyota and as they have been aware of manufactured defect in the rear differential gears and bearings of most if not all 2007 fj cruisers. All that are made in 2006 for sale in 2007 have or will have a differential go out as it is a "2000 dollar time bomb waiting to happen as the Toyota service manager stated" I asked the manager if any assistance has been given to any of these repairs as it is a common problem with all 07's and he said Toyota just assisted one they did a few months back and it was out of warranty. With this information it seemed it could be a possibility since Toyota is very aware of the manufactured defect of the rear differential. So I left the Toyota dealership and made my call right away as to just be frustrated as they stated they could not a

My 2007 Toyota fj cruiser has a definite and very serious brake problem! On at least 6 to 8 occasions brakes have locked up and caused temporary loss of control of the vehicle! On some occasions, I feel that a less-experienced driver could have crashed!! One occasion was at 55 MPH while passing another vehicle. This occasional scary experience has been reported by numerous owners of this vehicle on the fj cruiser forum, but this dangerous condition is not being addressed by Toyota!!! Help!!!!! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Toyota fj cruiser. When the vehicle stopped the anti lock and traction control lights began illuminating on the dashboard. While examining the vehicle he noticed that the front drivers side wheel speed sensor was broken. He attempted to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer but the vehicle would not accelerate because the wheels were locked. While towing the vehicle a loud popping noise was heard and all of the wheels except the front drivers side wheels began to turn. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The speed sensor wire was replaced. The failure mileage was 24,000 and the current mileage was 26,000. I believe that seat belts are one of the most important safety features on a car and should last the life of a car. I am very surprised that the seat belts on this car started to show a failing trend at almost 40000 miles. Both passenger and driver sides are failing, retracting and locking-up issues. Passenger side completely failed yesterday, it is locked up. Cost to fix is very expensive. .many fj owners are reporting the same problem, I encourage those with the same issue to file a complaint rather than posting it on fj cruiser forum. It should be a recall issue and Toyota should assume such a responsibility for fixing an important safety feature. *tr

Frame Rust, I just spent about $6000 for upper engine repair only to find out that the shop has now reported that the frame on the 2007 FJ Cruiser is not safe to drive any longer. Frame is rusted through multiple locations on the frame from side to rear - Frame is so bad that if I hit a bump just right It could cause an accident. I washed vehicle weekly to prevent rusting, it did not help. I am not reporting engine repair I am reporting the Frames rusted through issue and now I have no money to buy a vehicle and no vehicle to drive. Toyota has recalled other vehicles with this known issue but not the FJ Cruiser why, They even lost the law suite for frame rust Issues, They should be accountable for these vehicles as well. I was quoted approx. $2000 more to fix the frame.

Severe suspension bracket rust on multiple rear and front components. I luckily was able to avoid an accident when braking but my entire car swayed when the rear lateral support bar bracket broke right off the mount that is welded to the rear due to rust. I then inspected and found multiple rust areas on frame and other suspension brackets. Making this vehicle unsafe to drive. I am aware of Toyota's ongoing dilemma with using this horrible untreated steel and hope the NHTSA addresses this issue. This is not normal corrosion this is an absolute neglect in safety by not having this steel treated on such critical components of a vehicles frame. Had this incident happen on the highway at speeds of 55 MPH or greater. Serious injury and/or death can occur. If I am not the only consumer having th
