The check engine light (MIL) came on while driving. I experienced a lack of power and performance. Had it checked at an auto parts store and they said the trouble code was for camshaft/crankshaft positioning sensor. I replaced both camshaft sensors and the crankshaft sensor and reset the code. 400 miles later the light came back on. Took it to a shop and they said the timing chain had stretched and would need replaced to the tune of $2500. They also mentioned changing a problematic bolt on the oil pump, something they said had been an issue with the 3.6 liter v6.

Volkswagen sent me a recall notice on our 2007 touareg. This involved the fuel filter flange on the car. It specifically said if you are smelling gasoline take it to the dealer right away. In august 2017 we took the car in to have it inspected. They said at the time nothing was wrong. We started smelling gas fumes coming from the car in nov. 2017 and took it to village Volkswagen in chattanooga tn. They confirmed it was the fuel filter flange that was at fault and according to them, Volkswagen refused to replace the part or pay for any of the repairs. As this recall involves potentially having the vehicle that my wife uses to transport our grandchildren around to catch on fire, I was then directly told do you want us to repair it or not and the total cost of repairs was $652.00. brakes 1 complaint shown

The brake booster continually goes out and the vw dealership can't find anything wrong. When the brake pedal is depressed several times in rapid succession either while you are moving or just standing still, it becomes incredibly hard to further push down and the brakes become almost completely unresponsive. So if you are in traffic and the car in front of you is constantly depressing their brake pedals, it is incredibly easy to rear end them if you don't allow for a lot of room between you and the car in front, which isn't always possible in traffic. Only after waiting for maybe 30 sections do the brakes return to a somewhat normal mode.

At 41000, the car started making a high pitch noise whenever driving. After getting a second opinion, it is determined that the bearing on the center drive shaft has failed. Called vw and confirmed the problem and that this part is not serviceable. The whole drive shaft (and a new coupler/flex disc) needs to be replaced. Vw genuine parts cost $1095 on the drive shaft and $270 for the coupler; labor is set to 3 hours. Searched the internet and is indeed a common problem for vw touregs v6/v8 and also cayennes. I hope vw makes this a recall as it makes an uncomfortable ride and could be a safety issue if not replaced in time. *tr
