I was sitting in traffic trying to merge and the power steering light flashed on the dash and I lost my power steering. I got home and shut the car off for a couple of hours and the steering was fine.I drove to the store and as I was pulling into a parking space it happened again, the light on the dash flashed and I lost my power steering. I am very concerned about this because my daughter also drives my vehicle and I do not want this to occur with her.I am questioning if this was part of the life time warranty recall as I have never received any notices.

Power steering keeps going out. Usually when turning. The first time it went out, I was driving 45 MPH and it went out while I was rounding a curve, and I almost hit a tree because I was unaware that it was going to do this. After that, it went out about 2-3 times a week, everytime when making a turn. I went to have it looked at and my mechanic said that he couldn't find anything wrong with the power steering and to report this problem as he has seen this in a few other hhrs that he has worked on. It is very dangerous and because of it unpredictability, I am always afraid to drive my car. *tr
As I was in the middle of a turn with no warning what so ever the electrical power steering quit working almost causing a accident the only warning I had was the power steering message that came up after it quit working in a turn this is very dangerous and is a known problem on there other cars like the cobalt and ions this should be a mandatory recall very dangerous once you shut the car off and restart it the power steering will work again but will go out without warning again. *tr
My 2008 hhr looses power steering while turning, then suddenly returns power causing to oversteer. This is a sever safety issue as it is a come and go type problem,I do not drive during inclement weather fearing body damage to persons and vehicles other than myself. I have taken to dealer only to be told we can not determine the problem as it is intermittent. Also the tire pressure display is on even tho all tire pressure is correct, not sure if they are related to "electric" power steering. Would like this as a record if any persons are injured or worse killed due to the possible short circuit in powersteering. How many people have to leave the vehicles at home after spending all their money on them for this to be a recall? *tr

Also the lubrication was applied to the door latches and lock rods. Neither of these repairs have remedied the failure. The failure mileage was 31,091.
Severe fuel leak which caused a small fire. Luckily we had a fire extinguisher handy. This is apparently very common with hhrs and thank god I wasn't at a gas station when the fire started.
Wed. Dec.21 car flooded when rained. Took to dealer was told over $4000 to fix. Rewiring, carpets ripped out and replaced need to be done. Checked online. Seems to be a common issue with this model. No recalls.could not afford so picked car up. If this is a problem that affects wiring (potential fire) does it not also affect brakes, steering, etc.is this not a hazard?car has less than 36,000 mls on it. Seems to me to be a defect in manufacturing as mine is not the only car that has this issue. Shouldn't manufacturer be responsible for this problem. A customer should not have to drive with their feet sitting in two inches of water while driving in the rain. Should they?
When I turned off my car recently, I could smell gasoline. I could also smell it when the air conditioning was on. I took my hhr to sweenybuick/GMC, and they pointed out that two fuel lines were rusted through and I was driving my car under dangerous circumstances...some of the gasoline was leaking close to the muffler. My service agent said a fire could have easily started. The mechanic replaced my fuel lines, and then told me that he has had to replace fuel lines in other Chevy hhr's and Chevy colbalts. At no time has gm ever notified me that my fuel lines can rust through, and that other cars have had the same issue: hhr or cobalt. However, this dangerous rusting has occurred in others. I went online and found out that others have experienced rusted fuel lines, and some have attempted t

I took the car into the shop on 11/15/14 because of a loud exhaust sound. The mechanic advised the flex pipe was leaking and the flex pipe and catalytic converters (2) would need to be replaced. The cost is estimated at about $900. If the car is in idol, the exhaust seeps into the car and could cause carbon monoxide poisoning and death, if the windows are not cracked to allow for ventilation. Unfortunately, we cannot afford this repair at this time. The car is 6 years old and should not be falling apart piece by piece as it has been over the last couple of years. This part should be recalled, or should I say the entire car, b/c it has had so many recalls in the last couple of years. *tr
