I was driving home from work at about 6 pm when my power steering went out and caused my steering wheel to turn by itself. When the steering wheel turned by itself I lost control of the vehicle and almost crashed into a stop sign and a curb in the incoming traffic lane. When I purchased the car I was so excited, it was my first car and I thought it was decent,I was wrong. Since the power steering has gone out I have not drove my car I am scared to, this is a safety issue I was just lucky to have not been on the highway at the time of the incident. The power steering is all electrical, so everything has to be replaced. *tr

In this 4 door vehicle, the door lock actuators appear to have a defect that has affected numerous vehicles of the same make and model. The door lock actuators either completely fail or become intermittent. There are two primary safety concerns with these actuators failing. The first being that not all the locks automatically lock when vehicle is placed into drive, giving women or men a false sense of security against car jacking because they have no indication that all the locks are working or not on all four doors. Secondly, impaired personnel or pregnant woman may not be able to reach (manually) from the inside to the rear locks to unlock the door due to the positioning of the latch to the far most aft position of the vehicle. Nor is there a key slot to unlock the rear or passenger door
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the computer codes illuminated and all of the temperature gauges on the vehicle stopped working. The vehicle also began to run very rough. If the vehicle was turned off, occasionally she had to wait 10 minutes before it would restart. The dealer replaced the steering column module, but that only corrected the failure for a short period of time. The wires within the computer were repaired; however, the repair only lasted a few weeks. The dealer and manufacturer have stated that they do not know what caused the failure. The failure mileage was 58000 and the current mileage was 60000.

The exhaust manifold of the 2008 has a severe crack which allows exhaust fumes into the cabin of the vehicle. I cannot keep the fan on while the vehicle is stopped, idling, or in slow traffic as the fumes are so strong that it causes headaches and nausea. The vehicle was taken to two different Chevrolet dealerships to pinpoint the source of the exhaust fumes and nothing could be found. Afterwards, it took my husband less than 10 minutes to locate and photograph the exhaust leak on the exhaust manifold. Two other close friends also have 2008 malibu's and both of their cars have the same dangerous issue of exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin. One has had this replaced at Chevrolet dealership with OEM parts at a cost of $1500 with the explanation of the high cost for the repair being that th
My engine light was on and after I repaired that issue, was told that my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. The maintenance guy found a letter stating 2008 Chevrolet malibu was being recalled for faulty catalytic converter. However, when I entered my VIN number on gm's recall site my 2008 Chevrolet malibu wasn't listed. The letter is extending the warranty on the converter for 10 years or up to 120,000. I wanted to know if there is someone at gm that I can contact directly regarding this situation. Please advise best regards *tr
