2008 Dodge Avenger owner complaints

Etc failure ( electronic throttle control ) approx. 100,00o on vehicle, highway going steady 65mph and light came on near total power failure. Restarted vehicle seemed to clear itself. Took to Dodge mechanic the computer says it did not happen.. Replaced the (etc) and car is still not operating correctly..I have zero faith that the car is safe. Researched this etc issue which seems to be widespread.

Horn started blaring, lights where going on and off while sitting in parking lot, driveway and when driving. Car started stalling when this problem started. Took to dealer and was told it was the tipm. Saw where in 2008 Dodge/Chrysler had issue with the tipm but the 2008 avenger was left off. Have seen on Dodge talk and multiple other web sites that the 2008 Dodge avenger has had this issue and Dodge/Chrysler is aware of it. It is a safety issue and they should have to repair the vehicles. Car currently at venice Dodge chyrsler dealership. 941-493-7986.

A/c is blowing out hot air, I was told by the dealership that I needed to get a replacement computer component. I told them at the time that my car has only 70000+ plus miles and that should not be replaced plus I had older cars and people with older cars never once had to get the ac fix and they have over 150000 to 200000 miles on their car. Mean while back several years ago, my car caught on fire do to hay falling in the road, therefore all wiring/equipment under the hood got replaced. Currently my driver side seat belt does not stay fasten all the time. *tr

In motion at random times my electronic throttle control light will flash at the same time I lose all power at any speed.....from coming into my driveway to highway speed 40-50mph to interstate speeds 65mph I was with my very I'll mom who has to travel with medical supplies and equipment and when she is in an accident, and left unable to get to her set destination, would suffer and did finally today ....we had to sit parked for longer that she medically is able to because of this problem with the electronic throttle control. It should be recalled & resolved before someone in my car, or myself, gets hurt or killed. I have had my avenger since february - march 2009 and today is december 2018 and it has happened for over 2 years to me just because I am still alive, don't mean it should

2008 Dodge avenger with 2 recalls. Consumer states that dealer told them they needed time to order the parts. Dealer told them when they got there that the parts were not in yet. *kb the consumer didn't state which 2 recalls out of the 4 she was trying to get remedied. *jb

Catalytic converter shows as an error message and check engine light and will need likely replacement. The heater does not work on the car, likely due to the heater core. I just purchased the car and it had a recently replaced o2 sensor that was unplugged as its initial reason for the check engine light. There may be other cars with similar problems, and I wanted to report it because these are costly repairs.

Car has been randomly stalling for no reason. After sitting a few minutes the car will restart and drive ok until it happens again. The horn randomly works and sometimes goes off by itself. It was taken to the dealer and was told it was the tipm causing the horn issue but they do not know why it is stalling. Possibly could be the tipm as well.

My son bought a new Dodge avenger 2008 back in march. He was in a wreck on sunday dec 14th. He was exiting the turnpike (road had started to ice over) and he slid into the car in front of him. My 2008 avenger stalls when accelerating. It seems to happen when it is wet and cold out. It happens mostly when you are at a complete stop and push the gas or when you are slowing down and the accelerate. I have almost been in several accidents due to this happening. I have taken it to the Dodge dealership and they said they can't find anything wrong. There is definitely something wrong. *tr

I've already had to replace the power control module (PCM) once just a year and a half ago, and now I have to replace it again and my car has been out of commission and sitting at a mechanic's repair shop for almost 2 months now after fixing other things first before finally determining it was the PCM again. Car will not rev above 2.0 RPM and is in "limp mode" with the service engine light along with the lightning bolt symbol present on the dashboard.

Windshield wipers stop in the middle of the windshield while operating in delay mode. They will stop then start back up, but always stop in the middle of windshield. *tr

As I was driving down the interstate highway, I heard some wind so I checked window button, I then heard door alarm go off and as I attempted to exit highway on an exit ramp the door swung open!! My passenger had to physically hold it close as best she could until we found a safe place to stop to see if we could identify the problem. We tried many times to close it but could not get it to latch. We scrounged around on the side of the road looking for something to tie it together with to get it off the side of the road and back home! I'm glad my grandchildren were not with me! *tr
