The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear wheel differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Was driving home going 35 the rear end spider gears decided to lock up completely cause loss of control of my vehicle
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500. The vehicle was parked at the residence driveway. There were no occupants in the vehicle. The vehicle rolled away without warning into the garage door post. After reversing from the garage post, there was smoke coming from underneath of the hood. The battery cables were removed, and the smoke stopped immediately. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle will be repaired under the service warranty. However, the dealer refused to pay for the body damages sustained as a result of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 20,000. The VIN was unavailable.
As I was driving on a highway in three lanes of traffic at approximately 70 m.p.h. The rear end made a loud noise and without warning seized up and started grinding extremely loud causing my rear end to lock up at 70 m.p.h. Almost causing a pile up. I avoided a collision by pushing the accelerator to the floor allowing me to change lanes and exit the highway to the first parking lot I could find right at the exit. When I drove into the parking lot the vehicle had a strong odor of hot oil and would not move because the rear end was destroyed. I find it hard to believe Dodge is not responsible for the 2008 year trucks having a rear end failure since they have recalls on every year truck except 2008. Now since none of this will be covered by the manufacturer or dealer I am left replacing

engine 2 complaints shown
Several times now after starting the truck and running it 10-15 minutes it just shuts off. Today on a very busy 4 lane road it happened and nearly caused a crash due to no power steering. Shops have checked it and it does not show in code errors.
The engine randomly dies. At idle or driving, at all speeds. It starts right back up. I have had the truck worked on at 4 shops and two dealerships. I have spent over $10,000 string to get the problem fixed. It is a very dangerous situation. I have been trying to resolve this problem for 3 years. *tr

While filling up with gas it spills out. Only way to fill it up is to it very very slowly a little at a time. It went from filling up normal then all of the sudden it won't do right. The last 4 times I've put gas in it.
fuel system 1 complaint shown
When fueling the vehicle approximately 10 seconds gas starts shooting out of the gas tank, all over the ground, all over myself, and all over the vehicle. I have been told that it could be a vent issue in the neck of the fueling path. This is a definite safety issue. There have been multiple complaints about this same situation happening in other Dodge vehicles. Could you please contact me to discuss. In my opinion, this should be covered under a recall defect. *tr

2008 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4: the outer tie rod ends went at 48,000 miles. I started getting vibration in the steering. Had to have them replaced and the front end aligned at my expense. Checked for safety recall and there was nothing. Have heard from dealership that several other people have had the same problem. Also tires are rotated every 5,000 miles when the oil is changed. Still have a slight pull to the left though. Still have old outer tie rod ends. *tr
