Car kept stalling when I would turn on the engine and also while driving on the street it kept bucking and refused to accelerate. Anyway, got tune up 09172014, cost $170.00. Plus an oil change. Problem still occurring? Had diagnosis completed 12/26/2014 however, they couldn't find the reason for the car to die while turning it on. Car is now 145k miles. Recommended I replace the battery. Now after paying the $265.00 for battery and diag, they say take it to the dealer may have something to do with engine. Every time I turn on the car I have to wait for the engine to warm up so it won't die...engine does not make noise, battery is good and electrical is good so idk what's going on. Going to take it into dealership again but feels it's a waste because they probably won't find anything and wi
Guessing the date but I know it happened around 65k miles when I took it into dealership to get it check. Car kept stalling when I would turn on the engine and also while driving on freeway it kept bucking and refused to accelerate. Anyway, got the engine fixed, however, they couldn't find the reason for the car to die while turning it on. Car is now 94k miles. Every time I turn on the car I have to wait for the engine to warm up so it won't die...now it dies regardless and stalls while I'm driving. Had mechanic friend check it and found nothing. Engine does not make noise, battery is good and electrical is good so idk what's going on. Going to take it into dealership again but feels it's a waste because they probably won't find anything and will make me do costly repairs that won't fix an
When driving vehicle, engine lags at about 50 MPH. Also when engine is still cold and transmission is in drive it stalls, it does it repeatedly until it reaches normal operating temperature. It seems something is wrong with fuel distribution, which may be very dangerous. *tr

Vehicle parked during rain event, noted heavy leakage into spare tire well and passenger side rear floorboards. It appears to be coming from multiple sources. Windows heavily fogged/iced up from moisture in cabin. This happened twice this month. Secured dealer appointment, but when I arrived I was told that I have to bring it in when their leak specialist is at the shop (why does Honda have a regularly-scheduled leak specialist??). I was also told that I have to pay for diagnosis and repair since the vehicle is out of warranty. I have never had a car that leaked water. The fit now has rusty metal parts, wet carpet, and possibly damaged electrical components from water infiltration. *tr
I own a 2008 Honda fit (manual transmission). Beginning last winter (january 2014), ice forms on the interior of the windows of the car (windshield, driver side and passenger side). This is very dangerous as it limits/blocks visibility. The windshield clears after running the heat, but the side windows do not. At stop signs, when it is below freezing out, I have to roll down the windows in order to see if cars are coming. I have not brought this in to the service department, but will consider doing so this winter. Shouldn't there be a recall on this problem? Thank you. *tr
This vehicle has been leaking through the door seals completely soaking the rear carpet causing mold to grow and puddles to form. Honda has issued recalls for leaking water into switch areas but denies all knowledge of this issue. Any internet search will bring up hundreds of 2007 and 2008 Honda fits with this exact problem. This vehicle was purchased new and has never been in any accidents. The mold issue has rendered the vehicle unsafe and lowered any resale value. Dealerships want approximately $400 to just diagnose the problem and the Honda corporation will not help in any way with the problem. *tr

1) vehicle engine has to warm up for several moments if stationery for longer than a few hours (regardless of outdoor temperature); 2) transmission slipping or pistons not firing while in operation-whether in town or highway; 3) if vehicle idles, engine shuts off and upon restart, has to reach 2000 rpms to begin be able to put it into drive. Vehicle has been taken in numerous times to multiple Honda service stations and independent mechanics with no positive resolution. Work done included: crank sensor, coil packs replaced, starter replaced, fluids flushed, valves adjusted. Codes pulled have not pinpointed the issue nor does any mechanic have an answer. Online forum searches appear to have a number of other owners with all model years of Honda fits with same/similar issues.
My 2008 Honda fit (manual transmission) suddenly felt like the engine was bucking or hesitating when shifting gears. This was noticeable when shifting into 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th gear. It felt as if I needed to downshift even though I was shifting into the correct gear. ( I have been driving manual transmissions for more than 30 years). I took the car to the Honda service department and after test driving the car was told they did not notice the problem and to come back if the check engine light came on. A week or two later (12/9/14) when in massachusetts for business, the bucking/hesitation was so bad that I was uncertain what gear I should be in when driving up a steep road. I made a service appointment for the coming saturday (12/13/14) when I would be back in connecticut, even though the
2008 Honda fit (automatic) stalls when vehicle is in "drive" when driving at a slow/decreased speed (parking into a parking spot or starting to accellerate from a stop) or when stopped at a stop sign or stop light. There are no "service indicator lights on". This stall in the engine occurs regardless if vehicle is cold or warmed up. Honda dealership suggested replacing the transmission fluid. Cost $210.00. Paid for service to be preformed at Honda dealership. My car stalled again the next day. I hesitate to drive in traffic because stall is intermittent and do not want to cause a vehicle collision. Vehicles driving behind me have no idea when vehicle is going to stall instead of moving. Very high potential for collisions. There is a Honda recall for the 2009 and 2010 Honda fit for this

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 Honda fit. The Honda fit sport is designed so that the instrument panel illuminates to full brightness as soon as the ignition is turned on--day or night. It cannot be turned off at all. (the dealer and manufacturer confirm this.) the problem is that I, like, I suspect, most drivers, rely on a dark car interior as a prompt to turn on the headlights at night. This week I have driven home from work three out of five nights with no headlights. (on one occasion I was prompted by a kind approaching driver who "blinked" me; on another I actually remembered to turn the lights on. The degree of illumination, incidentally, can be controlled when the headlights are on. The too-bright dashboard is a mild annoyance during the daytime, but that in itself would not meri
The car suddenly lost acceleration on the highway, with the check engine light flashing. The mechanic later found fault with ignition coils. All coils were replaced, but they keep failing one after another, creating potential dangers (e.g., loss of power and crash on the highway). *tr
airbags 2 complaints shown
My sister and I were sitting in stopped traffic on a california freeway in her 2008 Honda fit when we were rear ended by another driver at about 50 MPH. We both were wearing seatbelts. He struck us directly behind the passenger, and our vehicle then struck the car in front of us and the concrete median barrier to the left. He struck us with sufficient force that our car was a complete loss and we had to be removed from the vehicle with the jaws of life. None of the car's airbags deployed. Though I was wearing a seatbelt and shoulder harness, I struck the dash with my head and was knocked unconscious. The seatbelt did not restrain me. I have seen at least three other similar incidents online that involved a rear end collision with a Honda fit. Please investigate this dangerous
I received the recall notice in july 2016 from Honda. The letter said they would follow up when they have the parts in late spring or fall. It is december and I have not heard from Honda.

Noticed damp/wet carpet under rubber floor mats on nov 15th 2011, noted a moldy smell. Cleaned car dried out carpet. Noticed rear carpet very wet after rainy period dec 21 2011. Pulled up carpet, water all over top hump were seat brackets attach to car frame, carpet was soaked all way to front seats. I feel this may be a structural issue and safety issue. Over on miles for warranty to cover. Schedule with local dealership. *tr

Lost control of steering and veered into light post. The post was impacted at approximately 30 MPH. The air bag did not deploy. There was smoke and gun powder smell. The car was a total loss. The airbag obviously fired, but did not deploy.

I own a 2008 Honda fit. Approximately one year ago - in the winter of 2009 my car started to get a moldy musk smell. I've noticed that the smell is much stronger after it rains or snows. Yesterday I went to get in my car and all of the windows were fogged up, and I hadn't used the car in many hours. I am in the process of replacing the rubber molding on all of the doors to try and stop the leaking, but I've been waiting to try and get some help from Honda. I am very concerned about mold growing and causing health problems. I've researched a few blogs and have many other fit owners who are having the same problem. *tr
steering 1 complaint shown
Orange light comes on and freezes the power steering. Vehicle is very difficult to steer. This is especially bad when there is a change in the weather, especially a change from warm to cold. Once the engine is warmed up, I can usually get the wheel to loosen and the power steering to engage if I turn it off and back on. If it's a hot day and I crank up the ac the wheel will often jerk (even at high speeds) I recommend looking into this. *js

I was pulling into a space at work with my foot on the break. The car was straight at that point. All of a sudden the engine revered and accelerated and hit the garage outside wall/pipe. Car bounced back about 6 feet.

Above mentioned Honda Fit Vin number JHMGD38678S043570 had same issue with low beam headlight recall (TSB 10-082 low beam headlight recall) Low beam headlight do not work. Car was sent to Pohanka dealership for repair. "Found a break in wire where connector was installed." I have documentation attesting to this. I am not denying that switch was bad, but Honda is charging labor for the obvious recall repair that was incorrectly performed. I would like a partial refund for the labor they are charging for the time to repair the recall correction. Honda is denying the claim saying it is "wear and tear".
