The fuel gauge in my 2008 Hyundai santa fe as started bobbing up and down. When I start the car it shows that I have no fuel then raises up to about half a tank and then goes back down to about a quarter before slowly raising up again. This car has caused me more trouble than any other car I have owned. *tr

I've been quoted $425 to repair it? It's a 2008 Hyundai sante fe limited. The chk engine light was on my mechanic used the car detector system. It states fuel cap issues. Gas fumes and smell are in the interior of the vehicle. This is most prevalent when the vehicle has a full tank of gas. This occurs both when the car is in motion and when it is garaged. The dealership service department could find no cause but this has been occurring for approximately 18 months. I am concerned with the safety and health aspects of the gas fume build in the interior of the vehicle.

Fuel level indicator stopped working. Gas tank can be full, and it stays on empty or fluctuates while driving or stopped.

The gas guage in this vehicle stopped working over a year ago and we have ran out of gas in the middle of traffic when we keep our gas guage filled in this vehicle all the time causing a danger to ourselves and our children someday somebody is going to hit us due to this issue keeps happening in the middle of traffic and the road and interstate. It constantly keeps showing us empty when we are not. I have read many reviews that this happens with many of these vehicles and it has yet to be recalled.

2008 Hyundai santa fe, 78k miles. Fuel gage reading starting bouncing around. Showed half full on a freshly filled tank. Eventually check engine light came on. Error code p0464 (fuel level sensor 'a' electrical circuit was intermittent for a predetermined period of time.). Fuel sensors required replacement. An inaccurate fuel reading is a safety concern, just like any other issue that can lead to unexpected vehicle shutdown. The numerous reports on the web concerning the failure of the fuel sensors in the 2008 santa fe suggests strongly that a recall is warranted.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 Hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the vehicle has been at the dealer for two months because the air bag light and door locks were not working properly. The dealer is currently stating that they have to rewire the entire vehicle. The vehicle has not yet been to the repair shop for the air bag light to be repaired. The part was ordered, but it did not remedy the failure. The doors have been repaired unsuccessfully approximately six times. The failure mileage was 300 and current mileage was 3,000.

Fuel sensor problem. Gas tank does not register full and sometimes the check engine light comes on because of a fuel sensor problem. Had a half a tank of gas today; filled it up and for 15 miles (at least) after that it read empty and the fuel light was on. The check engine light is suppose to indicate real problems -- now I don't know when to trust it. Please make Hyundai recall this part and make this repair. *tr

The fuel gauge on dash has begun fluctuating wildly even with full tank of gas. No check engine light yet but based on what I have read I am anticipating a problem code coming soon. My research is pointing to the fuel level sensor attached to the fuel pump. However, only the whole assembly appears to be available and as such, it is highly costly to correct. Hyundai should provide a recall for this due to the huge number of people experiencing the same problem. It has also been noted that this has caused vehicles to stall while on the highway creating a hazard to other drivers and myself. When the car ran out of gas, the power steering went out and it became very hard to steer. Please see the following web site for a current list of many other santa fe owners having the same problem. The fuel gauge started behaving erratically at 75000 miles. The fuel level sensor can suddenly drop to empty, then come back to 1/2 full and then to empty. It cannot show fuel level properly. This is serious hazard issue as owner cannot correctly tell fuel level while driving. Owner has 10year 100k power chain warranty but Hyundai dealer refused to fix this issue as they claimed this is not part of power chain. This issue happens any time while driving. *tr

When attempting to accelerate to merge onto highway, the car is unresponsive to the accelerator pedal causing long delay and inability to merge properly. It is a throttle sensor failure that occurs randomly and frequently. Causes a driving hazard and I have narrowly escaped collision due to accelerator failure. Ongoing problem since purchase in 2008.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 Hyundai santa fe. While driving approximately 15-20 MPH, the vehicle began to accelerate. The contact engaged the brakes but the vehicle continued to accelerate. The contact put both feet on the accelerator pedal but it continued. The contact shifted into neutral, reverse and park which stopped the acceleration. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer but the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer contacted the manufacturer who stated that they could find no similar failures. The failure occurred three times and other times, the problem stopped when the brake pedal was depressed. The VIN was unavailable. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

We have a 2008 Hyundai santa fe. Several times now it had unexpected brake failures. Last time on december 19 2010. I tried to stop the car in the intersection on red light. The brake went to the floor and the car entered the intersection. Second time I hit the pedal and it stopped. Then when I arrived home I tried to park and it happened again. There were similar problems also in 2009. The dealership cannot duplicate the problem. I drive my car in school zones. And this thing happened in the school parking lot too. I do not feel safe driving the car. *tr

Takata recall my 2008 Hyundai santa fe has paint that chipped away above the driver side, right above the windshield. The paint still continues to remove itself from the body in chunks. The issue began about a year ago. And I do not expect paint to remove itself with any rust/ rock chips in the area of paint missing. The SUV has 136,800 miles on it, but paint should not be coming off in chunks. I looked online and other individuals had a similar issue with their Hyundai. It's not just a problem with the santa fe. It's also sonata's, elantra's and other Hyundai models. The missing pearl white paint now shows bare metal and is now showing signs of surface rust.

The last week for nov. 2008 I purchased a new santa fe for my wife. On 12/26/2008 she was involved in a head on wreck. My 25 yr. Old daughter who is very petty about 110 lbs. Was riding in the passenger seat and the air bags did not deploy. Due to the air bags not deploying she was injured very seriously. I had no idea that there were prior complaints about the air bags it appears that there has been quite a few complaints I hope something is done before someone is killed. The manufacture needs to fix this problem. *tr

Prior to contacting NHTSA we contacted Hyundai and informed them that the bottom of the vehicle has rusted through and we can see the bottom of the interior in this vehicle when the car is on a lift (this was pointed out to us by a third party repair shop and not the dealer). It appears that Hyundai may be concealing data from NHTSA regarding corrosion problems on its vehicles. What is clear is that Hyundai is shirking its safety obligations and will not cover corrosion, regardless of whether it is functional or safety, if the warranty has expired. Based on prior dealings with NHTSA I know that recalls are not limited to the warranty period if vehicle safety is in question. When we contacted Hyundai, their excuse for why the vehicle had a massive hole in the undercarriage was that the v
