The airbag light does not go off when a lighter weight passenger is in the front passenger seat which we find very unsafe for our passengers. The weight it should register to go off as we understood is a body being over 85 lbs., but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it stays on or goes off to make the passenger safer. Many drivers are light weight as are many passengers and this should be fixed for safety. Occasionally when restarting the car, the light suddenly goes off and sets the airbag ready for use if needed, but it is very annoying to restart your car several times and a waste of gas. After several restarts and hoping, the light sometimes never goes out. This is with the same light weight passenger so it does not make sense. Also the automatic headlights come on much l
Airbag and front passenger light came and stayed on. On march 20, 2012 dealer stated recall took my car for a week then returned no lights. The problem came back again on august 14, 2012 and they refuse to do any further work because my 2nd owner warranty expired in april of 2012, the dealership won't even honor the parts/labor warranting their work for 1 year I was told they were supposed to do. This is bad for me because I chronically ill. I brought a extended warranty from them and after being told my all involved it would cover future airbag/seat problems they said we can't find it in the contract and are giving me the run around. I really to ill to deal with this. What can I do? Who regulates dealerships when they are behaving badly. *tr
I started up the car and no one was in the passenger seat. The air bag light comes up on the dash disappears and reappears and stays on. After visiting mechanic the error code b1448 appears. I'm afraid that the air bags won't deploy if I'm in an accident. I'm also thinking whether this is associated to the larger oc sensor failed recall. *tr
The passenger airbag off light remains on even when an adult is seated in the passenger seat. Sometimes the condition can be cleared by restarting the vehicle but other times the condition remains the same. Adjusting the seating position and seat location do not seem to affect the problem at all. *tr
Front passenger warning light:"passenger air bag off" remains lit even when occupied. Hazard: do not know if air bag is activated or not. Bad ocs module? Want recall honored 08v161000. Front visor remains straight down position blocking visibility. When moved to the right blocks entry/exit from vehicle by hitting people in the head. Hazard! What do I do if mfg. Refuses to fix these items--my recourse?? *tr
My car only has 82,000 miles on it and I am the second owner. For some reason the airbag light came on. I received an extended warranty notification earlier this year in regards to seat buckle assemblies on 2006-2008 sonatas, which applied to my car. At that time however, I had no issues with the airbag light but now the light has come on. I went to the dealer and they stated that my issue has nothing to do with the seat belt buckle however it has to do with a b1448 080 (occupant classification system) (mat defect) I have spent some time doing research and it appears that a number of people have been experiencing this issue. I am not sure whats going on here but I think we need to look into the air bag issue. I have been quoted a cost of $1,300 to fix this problem and I do not feel th
We began questioning Hyundai (tameron Hyundai in birmingham alabama) when we noticed that this light stayed on. I also read in a haynes manual that there was a recall for this problem and I mentioned it to the dealership. The service dept. Informed us that there was no recall for that problem and that it was due to the passenger not sitting properly in the seat. We recently received a recall notice for this problem from Hyundai. I contacted the dealership and was informed that Hyundai had suspended this recall due to an overload of vehicles in the process of being fixed. They further informed me that I would need to bring the vehicle in for them to look at in order to be placed on a waiting list and then a second recall notice would be sent when the recall work suspension was lifted.
The front driver side door handle has came off and so has the passenger side. The inside door handle on the driver side has came off and the driver side door is totally inoperable. This s a total safety hazard in the event of an emergency, a car crash god forbid or even the car catching fire. Getting to safety would be very difficult. I cant afford to continuing fixing an issue that is defected to begin with. The brake lights doesn't illuminate all time when engaged and my air bag lights are on and my car sways in the back due to the control arm being rusted
Took vehicle to independent Hyundai factory trained technician due to air bag light. Was advised this is due to failure of Occupant Classification System sensor in front passenger seat. This is related to NHTSA Campaign 08V161000, but technician advised my VIN was not listed under this recall. Technician advised me to contact Hyundai due to the recall and inquire if my vehicle could be covered, since leaving unaddressed could cause injury or death during collision. Manufacturer is aware of issue due to previous recall cited above. Spoke with Hyundai customer service phone line on 12/13/2022 and informed of issue, asking if the recall would cover my vehicle even though my VIN was not indicated in the previous recall. Customer service advised this could not be done. Asked customer service to

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Hyundai sonata. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle began to make a loud ticking noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 108,000 and the current mileage was 108,112.
The engine started knocking loudly, slowing down and idling rough. I pulled over and the car would not remain running in idle. I had the vehicle towed and inspected at the house and the valves are bad. It happened without any warning, lights or gauges coming on or prior noise. I was driving around 45-50 to work when this happened out of the blue. 179,000 miles on the car and regular oil changes since I had the vehicle. I purchase the vehicle with 60,000 miles. *tr

Brakes failed while driving down an incline in parking lot in tysons corner, virginia. Had to pump brakes to stop hitting the exit gate. Brake line rusted, broke, and all brake fluid leaked out. Car had 102127 miles. Never had a car with a brake line that rusted through. Mechanics fixed by replacing section of steel brake line under right side of body subframe that had rusted and split. *tr

First incident, traveling md 4 when tire indicator came on dash board (may 2014) back passenger tire had huge bulge at rim of hubcap with hissing sound due to escaping air (4 31816 215/60r16 yoko avid touring -s DOT ccf1 f2712 purchased august 2013). Tire replaced at no cost to me due to no evident of damage inside the tire, thus a "defect" according to service tech. December 24, 2014 traveling on interstate 97 s; front passenger tire blew out without warning; ABS system slowed car down was able to move from second lanes to right shoulder without incident. Tire has about a 3-inch rip from rim up. With both tires, I was asked what did I hit and both times the answer was nothing. This is the second of four tires to go bad in a little over one year. I now feel the other two tires are ticking
steering 1 complaint shown
12/23/2015. 2008 Hyundai sonata gls. Steering wheel locked while the vehicle was in motion this evening. I was driving on secondary streets in town at a speed of approximately 30mph when the steering wheel locked and would not turn while negotiating a very slight left hand curve in the road. I braked with intent to attempt to pull over and the steering unlocked and started moving freely again. I had made a 90 degree right hand turn about 1/4 of a mile prior to the steering locking up and had no problem or tightness in the motion. Cause for the incident is unknown. I was not using cruise control, anti-lock brakes were not in use / activated. We did not experience any significant bumps in the road. We reached our destination without further incident and made the return trip als
