Ever time after you fill the car up with gas, the engine will stall and hesitate when pulling out of the gas station. For a mile or two. After that it will run fine until next fill up.

I got my 08 compass in 2014, I have had several of the other complaints of rusting, bolts, arm bearings etc...I have for past 2 months not been able to fill my gas tank as it only takes about .20 cents at a time. Tried 4 different gas stations. My mechanic has tried all vacumm seals, pumps, hoses, vents, vapor canister, vapor purge solnoid, and checking everything from a to b. Said only thing it could be was gas tank. Went online and googled fueling issues with Jeep compas, thousands....and this isnt a problem for Chrysler. If jeepknows about this, why isnt there a recall. I can not spend 20 minutes trying to fill my tank with 2 small boys, one who has special needs and the full service stations refuse to service me. Chrysler/Jeep needs to help. This is ridiculous. I need answersand I cant
Tried to put fuel in tank and fuel splashed back and kept shutting off. Tried 2 other stations and same result. My daughter has the car at college. She said she could only put fuel in the car by continuing to pump very slow and to keep trying. With any kind of fast pump the fuel would splash back. Very dangerous. *tr
I took my vehicle to the mechanic for work and was told that my sub frame needed to be replace. I have only owned the vehicle for 4 years and only have 110,000 miles on it .have not had a failure at this time but seeing that I'm near the mileage that others seam to have had the failure it worries me.
Front sub frame rotted thru front end of car fell apart. No warning. Driving thru parking lot, thank god not on highway. Should not have rotted like that on 9 year old car someone could've been killed. Called Jeep they refuse to pay for new subframe even though they cover 2007 subframes rotting. There should be a recall before people get killed. Costing us $1800.00, could've been much worse. Disgusted.

While in motion, a clunking noise was heard in rear end. Independent garage (zeller auto center,616 main st., torrinton, ct. 06790, 860-489-0204) diagnosed a rusted and rotted rear subframe. Internet check revealed other owners of this model experienced the same probem. Jeep issued an extended warrantee for 10 years from production date. No notice to vehicle owners! Contacted Jeep (case #57633304) and they advised that extended warrantee for this car expired on 12/28/17 and they would not make an extension. They stated that a recall was not needed when an extended warrantee was issued. I think a recall is needed so that other owners of this vehicle can be warned of the rusting subframe problem before an accident and injuries occur.
Took into have front end alignment and was told ball joints and tie rods were bad. Was without vehicle for over 10 days and the cost was $750.00. Got vehicle back and within a week heard a rubbing sound which turns out to be bad wheel bearings. Waiting for service shop to contact me as to the extent of the damage with that. The vehicle has under 70,000 which is less than the estimated 12,000 per year. The vehicle is not used for any off road driving. I have put more into this vehicle since I purchased it than I did my old 95 bonneville, which I drove until I purchased the Jeep. The Jeep was purchased used from a dealer in 2011. *tr
Received the february 15, 2017 letter about the warranty extended to 10 years/ unlimited miles on the front and rear crossmembers. At the time of the letter the condition mentioned had not been experienced. The condition did present itself and the vehicle was taken in for inspection. Both the front and rear were recommended be replaced however was informed the warranty period is from the build date which was in october 2007 therefor missing the warranty period by a month. If the letter stated the date of manufacture an inspection could have been scheduled before it expired.
I was putting a set of rear brake pads on the vechicle when I noticed that the rear crossmember is rotted out. I did some research and found out this is a known problem with these vechicle. Chrysler has to promised to fix the 2007 models, when the 2007, 2008, and 2009 all suffer from the same problem. I have to pay$1500.00 out of my pocket for an 8 year old vechicle that should not be this rusted out.
In august 2018, I was informed by a reputable auto repair shop that another auto repair shop that did work on my vehicle less than a month prior, "turned off" the check engine light. I went back to that mechanic and they advised that it is impossible to do so, because its all in one panel. On 11/11/18, all exterior lights on the vehicle stopped working. I went to auto zone to get replacement bulbs, but they advised that this was an electrical problem and I should go to a mechanic. I have already spent a few thousand dollars on a 2008 Jeep compass including suspension work and other maintenance. I was just informed on 11/15/18 that the tipm is out causing the all exterior lights to not work and the check engine light. The mechanic advised that this is a dealer only problem and could cos

Front and Rear Crossmember Corrosion (X69 Warranty Extension) - 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber & Jeep Compass/Patriot- NHTSA ID # 10140027 My Daughter was recently given a 2008 Jeep Compass by a family member for her 16th birthday. We took it to our local Auto serviceman who checked the car out, and made us aware of the Warranty Extension b/c the Font Crossmembers are rusted out. We live in Ohio and would qualify for the Warranty, yet the car is past the 10 year timeframe. Other than this issue, the car is in great shape, only 85K miles. I contacted the dealership and Chrysler about the issue, and both said they would not honor the warranty. My questions are, is there anything else I can do, and if this is done as an extended warranty, are all customers formally notified? Why would the dealership

Sub frame rot, sub frame that supports the engine. Local Jeep service center said it was in need of repairs soon. Jeep recalled the 2007 compass for just this issue, there's obvious defect. Others with 2008 compass is reporting the exact same problem.
2008 Jeep purchased brand new in 2010. In 2019 with only 71,000 miles and now viisible rust on the vehicle, my mechanic advised that the subframe was rotted through with rust and was soft and the subframe needs replacing ($1,750). I contacted fca (Fiat Chrysler automobile) and they told me the warranty expired and I would have to pay for it.

The clock spring was going in the steering column. It started as a clicking noise when I turned the wheel. I was told it was the axle shaft and replaced it and still had the same noise. I took it to a garage and they found the clock spring was bad. He said that when these go your steering wheel will lock up. Also, upon calling Jeep for the part he found that this is a common problem.

I have had the same problem with the water coming in through the map light, my 2008 Jeep compass has been to the dealer 3 time's, the whole sun roof and everything around it has been replaced, I was told too much insulation was put in by the door area. Who knows the real problem. *tr

After any rain storm, the map lights become filled with water and leak. Repeated occurrence, has been to the dealer to be "repaired" three times (and counting). Water will spill out unexpectedly, even while driving. Have often been surprised by sudden "gush" of water, which is a major distraction and a potential safety hazard. Internet search revealed many other Jeep compass and Jeep patriot owners with the same problem under the same circumstances. *tr
