My 2008 Jeep liberty has overflowed fuel when filling the tank 3 out of the 6 times I have filled it since purchased on 11/28. It has happened at several different gas stations. When the pump kicks off there is between 2-8 ounces of fuel that spits back around the handle with a fair amount of pressure. The area underneath the filler cap is soaked and a large puddle forms on the ground. I am concerned that at some point a fire may result. I also feel I must wash the car after every incident because I worry about the gas causing a paint defect. *kb

When filling up at a gas station, the gas tank over flows before the pump stops. I originally thought it was a broken pump, however, I have now filled up over 4 times at 4 different gas stations and the problem continues to happen. This most recent time I have lost around 1/2 gallon of gas on the ground. I am also concerned with the effect of the gas on my paint/car body. *tr

2008 Jeep liberty limited. Gas overflows. Took to dealer and was told they could find nothing wrong. Gas continues to spew out after filling. The problem continues. *tr
Jeep liberty 2008 gas gushing out every time after filling tank - according to dealer, roll-over valve is faulty inside gas tank so entire gas tank must be replaced (about $800+). This valve ensures that gas will not leak into vehicle in the event of a roll-over accident; also ensures gas won't shoot out of the gas tank after filling with fuel. Gas erupts out of tank and back onto the face, body and feet of the consumer as well as all down the side of vehicle and onto the ground near gas pumps. Very unsafe hazard. Not a maintenance problem but rather a defective part inside the gas tank. Should not be the consumer's responsibility to replace. Vehicle is only 2 1/2 years old with 40,000 miles logged. This occurs each and every time the tank is filled whether or not it is on auto-fill or man

I am the original owner of my 08 liberty. I have been using the dealership for all maintenance. I've had issues with my skyslider roof in the past which, after 5 years of haggling, has been fixed. The problem I am haveing now is with a dying battery. Replaced the battery only to find out that the battery was still good. New battery doesn't last overnight. Found that there could be 3 issues causing it. Radio, fuel pump or tipm. Cd player began to constantly eject a cd when no cd was present, so I pulled the radio fuse to stop the drain on the battery. No good! Next day, dead battery. Listened to any sound that the fuel pump was running while engine was off. Did not appear to be running. Checked with the Jeep forum, wow was I shocked! Libertys have nothing but electrical problems with the t
On 11/22/2017 I parked 5 spaces from the front door of meijer on e.michigan ave in jackson, mi. As my esa animal remained in the vehicle I left the car running and heat on low. I was in the store about 3 minutes. By the time I returned to the vehicle I was informed by a bystander my vehicle was on fire and help was on the way. I asked about my dog and was told no one had seen him. I frantically searched the car for (nagini) my dog causing 3rd degree burns on my hands.I was able to retrieve him from the Jeep. He was unconscious and unresponsive. I began cpr and he was resuscitated. But sadly nagini died from his injuries 2 days later.

Jeep liberty spurts fuel when filling up. This has happened on numerous occasions. Auto shutoff on fuel pump/nozzle shuts off then a large quantity of fuel spurts out of tank all over side of car and ground. This is an environmental and human safety hazard. Now when filling up, I step away from the car and let the spurting finish. It happens every time I fill up. Also happens when I don't set pump/nozzle to auto shut off, but when I do that, I get fuel all over my hands. *tr
Starting in november of 2011, I have had overflow issues with my gas tank. Every time I fill up my liberty, it overflows after the gas clicks off. It spews out everywhere! It seems to spill out with more force the colder it is outside. *tr
Fuel spit back after putting gas in fuel tank. It doesn't matter has fast or slow gas is pump, gas spills out after refueling vehicle. Large quantities of gas spray out of filler neck on person, vehicle and ground.

2008 Jeep liberty chatters when backing up slight incline. Problem since new. Still under warranty. Dealer installed torque converter and new rear drive shaft on two different visits. Neither solved issue. Dealer and Chrysler told me that this is "...the nature of the beast." local service rep. Told me that he's driven several with same problem. Chrysler refuses to go any further with solving the issue, basically, telling me to "...live with it." if, indeed, it is "...the nature of the beast...," shouldn't there be a recall to address this? At this point, I'm looking into litigation for breach of contract, as their warranty assures me a flawless product. The consumer stated the vehicle would shudder or jerk while backing up on an incline. The consumer was advised by a chrsyler rep to ta
The parking brake failed to engage on my 2008 Jeep liberty automatic transmission. While the parking brake was fully engaged with the Jeep in neutral the Jeep rolled backward and struck the wall causing minor right front fender damage. Fortunately the Jeep hit the wall stopping it from rolling down the driveway into traffic or running over pedestrians. Note; there is a recall on the 2008 Jeep liberty, Chrysler recall #h28 with manual transmission but not on the automatic which uses the exact same parking brake system. Why isn't there a recall for this vehicle? Emergency/parking brake system should be there when you need it and if the hydraulic braking system should fail. This is a vehicle safety alert that must be addressed. *tr

Thanks for this opportunity;; experienced exactly the identical rainwater flooding problem , from the right hinge above the hatchback of my 2008 liberty, first saturating the cargo area, then moving forward saturating the front cabin floor! Dealer wont fix!! ! Removed seats and carpet, threw away padding,, replaced padding cleaned carpet, removing back hatch, and putting gaskets under hinges! Good thing im handy and ex-navy!! Please take all kuddos away from Jeep inc!! P.s. Someone tried to silicone around that right cargo hatch hinge then use touch-up paint on it;; I think it was the dealer; but they deny it!! But the Jeep was a lease before I bought it!! So no one else was supposed to touch the car; right? I would not have known ,, if I hadn't read another post describing the ver
Sunslider roof - broken frame and motor at approximately 50,000 miles. Water damage. Told not covered by warranty. Repair estimated over $3000. Gap in roof when driving at any speed over 30 MPH. While driving on x way at 70 MPH heard noise and saw section of roof slider lifting up and air gushing. Slowed to pull off and whole panel lifted up and almost blew off. Stopped and panel crashed down with front corner coming into passenger side seat. Fortunately no one was in the seat! We taped the panel down to nurse it home on side street at under 40 MPH. Dealer said would cost more than $1000 to fix, probably more and repair would not be guaranteed. We cannot afford to fix. We never used the slider in the past. Inquiries on internet reveal many similar incidents by other owners and their attempts to repair with estimates over $3000. Definitely a serious issue. Could have lost control of car if not already stopping, panel could have separated and hit other cars, panel coming into
