2008 Pontiac Torrent owner complaints

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

My air bag did not deploy in a front end and rear end collison where I was hit at a dead stop and the truck was going 60 MPH. Car was repaired by geico repair shop in tampa, fl. The air bags still don't work and the light still off and on whether someone is sitting there or not. The dealer will repair for total of $900.00 or more. I recently smelled fuel strong in the car and outside. Took to dealer and I see others complaining too about this. No ne informed owners that there is a special warranty to repair part of the problem for free. The fuel pump was cracked with only 43k miles on vehicle. The vent solenoid was not covered yet it is stuck in the open position and defective but I had been charged extra 302.00 and would like to know why they didn't include in the recalls? Both

Service air bag light continually goes on and of randomly, at times does not recognize when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. This is a serious problem because when air bag light is on it disables the air bags which won’t deploy in a crash. I found that they recall the 2007 models for this exact problem, Now is the time to recall the 2008 for the exact same problem. This is a dealer only part which they gave me an estimate to fix of $900 if I could get a aftermarket part I would replace myself. Come on Gm recall this ongoing serious safety hazard!!!!

My car has thrown a code for service air bag and when in motion with someone over so much weight the passenger air bag light will come on and off. Sometimes even when no one is in the seat and it's just a bag or a wallet the airbag light turns on. There is absolutely no recall for my model and I've read several posts with this problem. When will there be a recall for this. $900 is no what I have to take it to a dealership to fix this issue. I don't feel safe in my own car or with my children in it.

My vehicle air bag was replaced in the last 9 to 12 months, however the "service thebair bag" light is activated especially when there is a passenger in the passenger seat. The light activation is sporatic even when there is a passenger in the seat or not. I understand there was a recall on the same model for the year of 2007for replacement of a faulty sensor. . This recall should cover at least the 2008 Pontiac torrent as this is also a potential hazardous (safety issue) condition of the air bag may or may not be deployed.

The passenger seat air bag sensor is bad and has been bad and it cost a lot of money to fix it and I have researched online and it is very common on these and I think it should be recalled because it is not safe to not have the airbag working

Using automatic start feature caused heating element in driver seat to over heat and burn through seat. Could have caused a fire in vehicle but vehicle was turned off and taken to the gm dealership who refused to accept responsibility for this safety issue, manufacture defect which their service manager agreed that it was a defect and safety issue but wants the consumer to absorb cost for defect. *tr

As I started my vehicle I noticed a message saying to service stabilitrack control. I tried pressing the button to take it off but nothing.

In may of 2012, I noticed a strong fuel smell coming from the right rear of my vehicle. At first I thought that it might have been a bad fuel cap, so I replaced it. That did not help. Since I was planning a trip across country I had a mechanic friend check it out. He said that he could not tell where it was coming from. It does not matter if I have a full tank or if it is almost on empty, the smell is the same. It has been six months now and I still have that horrible smell. I took it to a dealership to have them give me some advice. I was told that the tank would have to be dropped to see it they can tell where it is coming from. I had to replace my tires very early on due to premature wear (I think about 35k miles) so that is the first issue. After changing my tires, I noticed the vehicle's traction control seems to fail. I will be at a dead stop and go to accelerate when my tires slip and the traction flashes. I had my tires looked at and they were deemed to be fine. Now that it is snowing, it was at its worst today. It was fishtailing while I was driving on snow/icy roads and the tires won't grip the road at all for the first 400 feet or so every single time I go from a stop. This is ridiculous and I shouldn't be afraid to drive my vehicle. I felt more comfortable driving my Pontiac vibe or grand am in snow than this and they didn't have traction control!! Service traction control light first happened while driving during thanksgiving and has stayed on thru today dec. 3 2017

Within 1 month of each other 2 valve stems broke. Tire went from being right on tire pressure to no tire pressure in seconds. Valve stem broke once by removing valve stem cap and the other one removing tire pump nozzle. Both times tires went completely flat in seconds. Dealership charged me about $325 to replace these tire stems. This leaves me with 2 more in question. My family rides in this vehicle with me a lot. Noticed a lot of complaints online about similar incidents and concerns. The dealership actually suggested these probably got broke at a car wash. They both broke in front of my face trying to add air. Someone will die because of these tires. *tr

There is a very strong fuel smell from under the vehicle it does not matter if I have a full tank or almost empty tank of gas. There is no visible leaks anywhere. I am a mother of two small children and this is very concerning to me. *tr

When driving the vehicle slows down, it feels like the brakes are applied on their own. The service stabiltrak light blinks, stabilitrak off, and traction control off flash. It feels as if the wheels do not slow at the same time. The vehicle makes an awful noise.

Lights on the dashboard are constantly coming on. Over the past 3 years, I constantly have problems with the "check engine"; "service stabilitrak"; and "service traction control" lights coming on. I live in pa and was driving to mississippi when it first happened and needless to say I panicked. I called back home to my dealership and was told I should be okay until I got home, that I only needed to be concerned if the roads were wet.
