My engine is consuming oil more than normal and I only drive locally and vibrates in idling and when you stopped the car also continuously has a sound coming from the engine like clicking harder at idling and running is very notorious. I consulted other mechanic shops and they said there s a problem in the internal engine but nobody worked in my car. In the past I told the Toyota service department and they ignore it

Excessive oil consumption ( 1 qt/400 miles), car is now at 108k miles. Oil consumption test done at 83k (used only 1/4 qt so passed) at roswell, atlanta. And I was asked to top up oil during oil changes. No notice received from Toyota for oil consumption issues. How come the car consuming just 1/4 qt/1000 miles consuming 1 full qt/400 miles now? (assuming test is done correctly) I dont know. But found on internet that this is an issue with this engine. I woke up late. Car is out of warranty since 05/18 for any fix. Toyota acted so cheap by not recalling the cars here despite knowing the issue very well. I always thought Toyota is known for reliability but not anymore.
Was at a complete stop at a signal. Had foot on the brake. Engine surged to approx 6500 RPM plowed into the vehicle in front of me. I climbed on the other vehicle. Car would not stop moving until I turned and pulled out the key from the ignition. Airbags did not go off. Reported incident to tarpon city officer, while the accident report was written up. My daughter and I were pretty banged up. Don't know if the other vehicle reported injuries. The rav was not drivable. Had to have it towed to suntoyota for repairs. Reported incident to sun Toyota service and body shop dec 22, they asked me what I wanted done about the problem. Called Toyota 800 331-4331 case #[xxx], 12/22/11 promised to call back in 24 hrs case worker [xxx]. Talked to [xxx] at Toyota headquarter in california. Still waitin
An excessive oil consumption, 1 quart every 1500 miles. No oil leaks identified. It's a known issue related to 2az-fe engines due to design issues related to pistons and rings. It's a safety issue which can cause a stall of engine due to low amount of oil. Toyota dealer refused to repair the engine due to just expired warranty (10 years/150k miles).
The car is loosing about 1 quart of oil in 1100 miles and it started about 100,000 miles on the car. Apparently this is a common problem, but the Toyota dealer claims this is industry standard.
On 12/18/2013 started car in the morning and and engine started knocking(4 cylinder). Checked oil and added 2 quarts. Then on friday 12/20 drove 4 mile engine and valves started knocking and rattling. From other complaints it seems that the engine in blown. I bought the car new and have served it religiously. How can an engine with 75000 miles on it lose that much oil? I have had cars with over 125000 miles on them and they didn't lose that much! Apparently there has been multiple complaints about this engine and so far Toyota has done nothing about. *tr

Brakes were reported as rusted out and were replaced during a 10,000 mile standard service. Cost was nearly $1000. *tr
Pulled into parking space at work doing about 5-10 MPH. Slowed to turn into space, giving car just enough gas , when car launched forward hitting a chain link fence. I did not have any brakes, so I tried pumping brakes before impact . Brake pedal was completely to the floor, so I used emergency brake to stop car before it caused further damage to car and fence. I did not report incident, but took car to lacey collision, and they estimated damage at $1500. This is not the first time this has happened, I have reported this to two different Toyota dealerships..nothing was ever done. They only admitted that yes, my brakes were a bit 'soft'. But car was not on their recall list.

I own a 2008 Toyota rav 4 which I purchased new. On several occasions I have had the accelerator pedal become stuck fully open when accelerating to merge onto an interstate highway. I was told several months ago that an aftermarket floor mat was slipping forward and trapping the pedal. Recently when this event happened I stopped and looked at the mat myself. It was at least 4 to 6 inches from contacting the accelerator pedal or any part of the drive by wire switch. I feel like the dealership is just trying to get around actually investigating my complaint. This has happened on several occasions over the last 6 to 9 months. I finally decided to file this complaint after it happened to me this morning (12/22/2009). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Toyota rav-4. The contact stated that while sitting idle with the brakes depressed, the vehicle suddenly accelerated as the engine rpms abnormally increased. The contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle, causing that vehicle to crash into a third vehicle. The contact was not injured. The police were contacted and a report was filed. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The technicians were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised her that they would send an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were approximately 40,000. The consumer stated there were numerous occassions when the vehicle would lurch into gear. The consumer discovered this was called ja

Greetings, we have a 2008 rav4 which has twice exhibited uncontrolled engine acceleration. My wife has contacted Toyota to no avail. Toyota has recalled other models but not the rav4. They have not heard our complaints as a mortal safety concern. It is as if we are trying to con the company. As a lifelong safety professional, this is very disturbing. Please advise as to our possible actions. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Date is approximate, but this has happened numerous times, not always under the same conditions. It has happened after being driven in light rain & heavy rain & after vehicle being parked & restarted all of the lights would illuminate. Initially while driving in moderate rain, multiple vehicle warning lights illuminated, cruise control failed on freeway @ set speed of approx 60 MPH due to rainfall. While continuing to function, the vehicle started to feel like it was rolling on marbles & the feel was a little unnerving, but you are able to maintain control of the vehicle. Diagnostics revealed multiple codes, but once reset all lights were out & the vehicle performed normally again, until driven in rainy conditions. Independent garage said to take it to Toyota when the rain induced the

While I was parking my car and stepping on the break pedal, the vehicle almost stopped then suddenly without my control sped up forward and crashed to two parked cars in front of my car at speed of 15 MPH. When I tried to control the vehicle by lifting the emergency parking handle, the car reverse its direction backward and hit a building and stopped .the car's engine did not become idle while I was stepping on the break pedal and the car became without my control after slowed down to less than 5 5 MPH and my feet were on the break pedal all the time .subsequently, I reported the accident to the west lapd and my insurance company. I was not under the influence of alcohol or any drugs .I have reported the accident to the manufacture of the car which sent an inspector to retrieve any infor

The vehicle, a 2008 Toyota rav 4, was sitting at a complete stop at a red light with operator's foot on the brake waiting for the light to change. Inexplicably and suddenly the engine revved to a high RPM and the vehicle lurched forward and struck the rear bumper of the vehicle in front. The collision was low speed and there were no injuries and no noticeable damage to either vehicle. We immediately drove the vehicle to the Toyota dealership for evaluation. *kb

This vehicle will not pass inspection due to unsafe frame/rotted frame. I've brought it to three different shops to see if it was just one area of the frame, but the whole framework has been declared unsafe. It has been well cared for and is in excellent condition otherwise and since it's well known that the Toyota frames have a long-standing bad reputation I feel I should get a frame replacement. Its scrap value is just $200! A massive rip-off to me!

Driver side air bag fault lite on. I was told it requires a new sensor and a spring. I own a 2002 Toyota corolla no trouble so far. The car has over 200000 miles on it. I have asked over 65 people with Toyota rav.4/ years 2008 -2009 and -2011 cars, if they have had any trouble with there cars. They all said not so far. *tr

I recently got my oil change done and tire rotation for my Toyota rav 4. I was told by a non Toyota service person to take my car to Toyota to get the shocks checks out since they were leaking and I was under warranty with Toyota. My car is only like 2 years old and I have problem with the shocks before at like 20k miles only. Toyota had fixed my left rear shocks once before too. So this was not surprising to me knowing that the right shocks/struts were messed up this time. I took my car to Toyota and they said moisture on the skocks/struts was normal and nothing was leaking. Also the new tires that I had replaced a few months back were worn out. I was informed that the shocks/struts were not a reason for that. Since I will run out of my 36,000 miles warranty in the next 3 months I am co
