No crank, no start condition caused by defective ignition switch housing (pass lock sensor failure) that can leave owner stranded. This is widespread among gm and Chevrolet colorado vehicles. Gm needs to redesign ignition switch housing and pass lock sensor to prevent failure and issue a recall. There is no recall notice or any indication that replacing the original ignition switch housing defective parts with identical, new parts does not guarantee the problem will not unexpectedly occur again. Part numbers replaced as indicated on repair order for this vehicle: 15795321 ignition housing; 26028106 bolt; 12377900 lubricant. *tr

Driving straight at 55 MPH on indiana highway 3 with cruise on engine died and would turn over but not start.coasted off onto a country road, had the colorado towed to a auto repair shop.repair shop found a blown 20 amp ignition fuse, replaced fuse and engine started up ran fine.repair shop could not get the fuse to blow again.on other internet sites people have had the same problems, but no gm service bulletins or recalls.the truck has about 80,000 miles on it.I'm concerned I may have a wreck or get killed if this happens again.
Will not start when dash padlock indicator is blinking. After waiting 10-15 minutes the indicator will stay solid and vehicle will start. Does this off and on every week or so. You do not know when it will happen. Dealership would not check it out as it did not occur when I was there. They do not acknowledge this as being a problem but checking online forums a lot of other people have had the same problem.
Vehichle will not start when padlock dash indicator is blinking, if you wait 10-15 minutes padlock dash indicator will stay steady and vehichle will start. This has happened off and on going on 6-8 years now. You never know when the vehicle will do this, when I took it to the dealership it was working fine and they dealer would not look at it. A lot of other people have had the same problem according to some of the online forums I have visited. The ignition switch is bad but gm won't aknowledge the problem exists. Bought the vehicle new and it has happened on and off again for 6-8 years.
On december 6, 2015 I was driving my colorado when I smelled an electrical fire. A few minutes later my passenger told me to pull over. There was a fire on the passenger side under the glove box. It was the ac blower fan resistor. We were able to get to a fire extinguisher and put it out but after some research found that it is a common problem in chevys starting in 2005. I called gm and started a claim. I then took it to a Chevy dealer to be fixed. I was informed that because the truck was out of warranty that it was not covered by gm and I would have to pay $1700 to have it fixed. This is a factory part. I have never had any modifications done to the vehicle sine I drove it off the showroom floor.

No crank/ no start. This is a widesperead and very common issue with all years Chevy colorados and happens intermittently where the engine will not crank (turn over). This can be a particularly unsafe issue for manual transmission models if for some reason the vehicle is stalled in traffic or leaving the driver stranded in some remote area under adverse weather conditions, for example and will not start. This happens sporatically, very difficult to duplicate making this vehicle unreliable and unsafe. Gm does not acknowledge there in an electrical problem as no recalls have been issued. *tr
My colorado would not start sometimes when we stopped for something or would not start in the mornings and I missed work because of it,and it would start later on ,it was getting frightening and discouraging.I taught to trade it but I like to keep it because I love it .I was charged 400.00 to get it fixed(I hope)that, not fair please see if I can get a refund ,cause I am having a rough time right now.thanks.
Sometimes won't start without waiting 10 minutes because pass lock light is on seems to be becoming more often. Seen online it's a common problem with this model? It can be dangerous depending on the situation you are in especially where I live in indianpolis.
Purchased vehicle used. Within 1 week vehicle failed to start. Dash shows security lock flashing. Vehicle will not start until it is no longer illuminated, takes approx. 10 to 15 minutes. Continues to happen on a regular basis every 7 to 10 days, on occasion has happened twice in same day or 2 days in a row. Called dealership - offered no solution. Has been 2 months now and have been stranded many many times waiting for vehicle to start. *tr
On friday morning at 8:10am I was driving on my way to work down auburn way when my Chevrolet colorado began to smell like something electrical was burning seconds later I noticed smoked coming from under my glove box on the passenger side. A few second s later I saw flames dripping down to my floor board. It all happened very quickly and soon as I pulled into a side road I tried to look around to see where the fire was coming from and I even attempted to put out the fire started on my floor mat but in second the truck caught fire and I was only able to get a handful of my papers and my sons car toy before the flames really took hold. I called 9-11 and they responded rarely quickly considering the station is about a mile away. But by the time they arrive the truck was fully engaged in flam

Truck intermittently loses power when pressing gas peddle causing bucking, stalling then will suddenly runs fine again causing rapid acceleration creating extremely dangerous and hazardous driving. Appears to be the fuel system control module because it occurs in damp, rain weather. According to the dealer the fuel system control module was replaced as per recall before purchase. In addition, the throttle body was also replaced as part of another recall for the same problem. The same intermittent problem still exist but gm is unable to repair this vehicle after numerous complaints and multiple attempts.
Fuel pump line corrosion on fuel pump module failed causing major fuel leakage and extreme fire hazard due to fuel leakage in addition to permeating inside of vehicle with toxic gas fumes.gm refused any recall.
Security passcode issue 2009 Chevy colorado. At times it will not start and then it will take 10 minutes for it to come back on. All the lights work in the car and lock symbol flashes. The battery is not dead and I can't do anything to restart it besides wait the ten minutes for it to reset. Not only for myself but for my children this is not safe. I should be able to rely on my vehicle to start every time I turn the key. Not sure if its passlock system or ignition.
From time to time truck will not crank. Dash lights up with a blinking lock flashing. If you wait 10 minutes will start. Have had it at Chevrolet dealer and 3 other repair shops spent $600 never fixed. Had 50000 miles on it. Otherwise runs great
My original complaint number is 10967682. This is a follow-up on the complaint I filed earlier with the colorado not starting. I have time now because I missed another doctor's appointment because the truck won't start. I have narrowed the problem down to the truck's v-pass or passlock security system. Once again, I have to wait at 10 minute intervals for the truck to start. All the dash lights come on but the truck won't crank. Sometimes it requires a 10 minute wait, sometimes a 20 minute wait, sometimes a 30 minute wait. All the dealer can say is to bring it in and they will look at it. I have already been there, done that. No fix to date has solved the problem. I would trade this truck in, but I would feel guilty passing this problem onto another person
