My 2009 corvette has an increasing fuel smell emanating from my corvette's driver side rear wheel well. The fuel vapor smell is so strong that can create a dangerous situation when the car is park in the garage where my gas hot water heater is located. After researching the issue, I've come across numerous reports of covette c6 owners reporting the same issue. The consensus seems to be that hairline cracks develop on the top of the fuel tanks causing fuel to leak on and down the side of the tank. Obviously this could lead to a serious fire hazard if it were to leak on to the vehicles exhaust. With the amount of c6 owners reporting this same issue and the potential for extreme fire hazard, I feel that general motors should address the issue. I am the original owner ofthe car and never be

I have a 2009 Chevrolet corvette with 30,000 miles. I started having highly gas fumes. I started reading some of the forums and noticed there were a lot of the same complaints. I brought in to a dealership for repair. They said it was a crack in the fuel module. Cost me $2,000 to repair. It was fine for about 2 weeks now I'm having the same problem. This concerns me because the fumes are so bad. I'm having to park outside until I figure this out. I'm worried for it to cause a fire in my garage. *tr
A strong fuel odor persists around the driver's side fuel tank/fuel filler neck. This odor is stronger when the tank exceeds 5/8ths full. A Special Coverage Adjustment was issued by Chevrolet, ref #N150682, GWM #2015682 in January 2017 which extended the factory warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles. I purchased this vehicle in July 2020 which exceeds that extended warranty. The fuel odor is a major problem as the vehicle is parked inside a closed garage and the vapors are strong enough to enter the house. Also the fuel odor is present inside the cabin as the vehicle is being driven. Chevrolet has not issued a recall on the dangerous problem and is unwilling to work with me on what will end up being an extremely expensive repair. Their best estimate is that the plastic OEM fitting on the d
Strong fuel smell from defective part on fuel assembly. I was told this is a $4000 fix for a part that was knowingly bad and GM did nothing about it. This is a fire hazard and could burn my house down the gas smell in my garage is overwhelming
My 2009 corvette (base model) is experiencing fuel vapor leak. There are no liquid leaks visible beneath the car, or on the garage floor. The smell of fuel is more intense toward the drivers rear quarter panel, near the filler tube. I have changed my gas tank cap and this made no difference. The smell of fuel persists. The smell is not present inside the car, or while in motion. The smell is strongest when the fuel tank is filled and seems to diminish when fuels is 1/2 tank or below. I am concerned of fire in the car, or in my garage, attached to my house.
Fuel leaking from around fuel tank. Possibly from fuel pump area. Strong gas smell fills garage over night. Gas can also be smelt inside of the car while driving. This happens regardless of the amount of fuel in the gas tank, but is more noticeable when tank is 1/2 or more full.
Fuel smell after filling up gas tank. Apparently the gas pump on drivers side made of plastic has tendency to crack. Gm had previously paid for this repair but limited coverage to 10 yrs and/or 120 thousand miles. Bought new to me 2009 vette with 132k miles, delaer now wanting to charge $3300 for parts/labor. Cannot park in garage due to gas fumes, also dangerous to drive.
There is a strong gas odor coming from the fuel filler tube (driver's side) area and an even stronger smell on the inside of the cockpit. But there are no visible leaks on the driver way (inclined) or garage floor. And there are no visible wet areas under the tanks or tank shields. Gas odor is related to gm bulletin #15682 dated july 2016.
Strong smell if gas after filling up. Gas is leaking after I fill up.
Hi, I bought the corvette used. The first time I filled it all the up with gas I noticed a very strong gas smell the next day in my garage. I hoped it would go away or it was just something I wasn't aware of about the car since I just bought it used. The next time I filled it up the same thing the whole garage smelled like gas the next day. Did some research online and found out there are allot of the c6 corvettes with this defect. If you fill the car up over half full gas leaks from the top of the tank down the inside and on to the tailpipe. Called the dealer and they refused to fix it or recall the defective part. Im afraid of two possible things happening either the car catching fire or the fumes igniting my gas water heater thats in the garage as well. Hope you guys can get something d
Strong gas smell after filling up gas tank. Can be smelled in car and overwhelms garage if tank is over half full.
Strong fuel smell and leak on driver side noticed after fueling only to around 3/4 tank has been this way since 19800mi when I bought the car I smelt gas but only on 11/23/20 have I seen fuel on the ground
Read about fuel smell- ie crack plastic connector of fuel pump. I am really concerned of parking in garage with pilot lights of gas heaters. Also did not get notice on emission (cat. Converter replacement).
Detect a strong gas odor after having been parked in a closed garage overnight. I have noticed this problem each morning for one week now the vehicle has 41,600 miles on it.
My fuel gauge would not record any fuel level after filling the tank and driving for approximately one quarter of the tank of fuel.the gauge would drop to "empty". This triggered the check engine light, and an error code, resulting in not being able to pass my car inspected in az, where it is registered. I was charged $2300.00 by the dealer to fix this problem in order to be able to use my car. This presents a problem of possibly running out of gas while in the passing lane of a highway. Fortunately this did not happen to me. *tr

Valve guides worn - all- out of specification at 30k miles, heads removed and valve guides and exhaust valves replaced.
Although my car is a 2009 it only has 300 miles on it. The zo6 model which has the "ls7 engine has a known valve issue with both intake and exhaust being out of spec and wearing rapidly. I had a "wiggle test" done on all my valves. More than half of the 16 valves were out of spec. If the issue is not correct a valve will drop and a new engine will be required.

Strong odor of gas in garage, dealer determined problem to be faulty fuel module, crack discovered with smoke test. The gas smell was so strong I was afraid to leave the car in the garage for fear of an explosion or fire, I notified Chevrolet and their only reply was thank you for being a gm customer. Cost of repair was $2731.39, which gm refused to reimburse saying car was no longer under warranty. *tr updated 3/15/16 *js
electrical 1 complaint shown
The power in my car (2009 Chevrolet corvette) turned off after I entered the car and shut the door. Since the doors are operated electrically I could not open the doors to get out. In order to exit the car I had to remove the removable hardtop and climb out of the car. If I did not have a removable hardtop I would not have been able to exit the car without assistance. This is the first time that the car has lost electrical power/shut down after I have entered the car. I have not taken the car to the dealer to fix the problem. *tr
