Vehicle shifts into lower2nd gear while driving at highway speeds according to owners manual this is called limp mode and needs to be stopped placed in park and turn ignition off and restarted to continue driving this has happened to me and others
Vehicle would not start. Completely dead. Vehicle was towed to dealer. Dealer said battery was bad. Replaced battery. Vehicle was ok for 3 days. Same problem occurred. This time dealer found vehicle was not getting proper voltage to transmission. Needed wiring harness replaced. Very expensive repair job. Lucky for me I have a "lifetime" warranty on power train. I am wondering if the transmission would stopped working if I was moving??? I talk to some with a 2007 model and the same thing happened. *tr

Went in to the store came out put my key in and it does not start all the dash lights come had it towed home my son came over put key in and it started right up one week later the same thing happen it not reading my key all the time
I was driving the other day and all the sudden I hit a bump and the key fob falls out of the ignition cutting the engine completely off. So I was coasting with no engine or power. Luckily I put it in to neutral and it started back up. This could have been very dangerous. Also my key will not release when I am trying to turn the car off so I have to leave it on sometimes and it has killed my battery. Most of the time it will release after a clicking noise I can turn it to the off position and it will release. It has cost me two batteries and a new key

Car in park, remains on after key has been turned off and removed. Key is new and replaced this year. Appears to be something in the ignition/electrical system.
The car will not start with ignition fob. This happens unpredictably. It has been doing this for a long time. We thought it was the battery but now, with a new battery it still often will not start. If we wait for some unknown period of time it eventually cranks and starts. We never know when and if we can leave or visa versa for returning home. When ever this happens the vehicle is stationary in legal parking place. However, it has cut off will driving.

When the red light turned green, I try to proceed across the intersection when the car just died. The radio continued to play but I had no power steering. I managed to pull over and turn on my flashers. Meanwhile the radio continued to play. I put the car in park and try to start the car again and it did indeed start. If I had been driving on i75 going 70mph and the car stalled I would be in huge trouble. The goodyear mechanic could not find the problem. *tr

Upper radiator hose elbow failed allowing immediate loss of all coolant fluid. The barb on the end of the plastic elbow broke off allowing the hose to slip off the elbow. This occurred while driving and resulted in immediate check engine light and overheating of engine. The driving was being done by a firestone technician that was test driving the vehicle after a front end alignment. Based on comments by other owners of the same vehicle this is a common occurrence ( http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50508).

Driver-side and passenger-side interior door handles both (at different times) just broke for no reason and started crumbling in pieces. It started about a year ago. I asked about it at our dealership. They informed me there were no recalls or anything. I looked it up online and saw that there have been many Jeep cherokees having this same issue and no one understands why there has been no recall on this common problem. My handles have gotten so bad that I am afraid of the safety issue for my family and I now. Of course the vehicle was stationary, as we were trying to get out of the vehicle when both of the handles did this.
Every time I fuel my car fuel backs up the the fuel filler neck and spills all over the ground this seem to be a problem not only in Jeep cherokees but in the wrangler too from what I understand this is a every fuel up ongoing problem
steering 2 complaints shown
We were driving at approx 55 MPH (not braking or turning) when suddenly the vehicle lost all acceleration, the gas and MPH as well as directional and temperature gauges went dark/dropped to zero, then the car lost power steering. We were able to pull off the side of the road, place the car into park, removed the key, and then returned the key and restarted the car. The car then started normally. *tr
My vehicle has stopped 3 times this year without warning. Twice while I was driving and once while my daughter was driving. There is a click sound and the radio and everything on in the vehicle goes. The vehicle begins to slow down. Luckly when this happened there were no cars around so each time we are able to stop the vehicle wait a second and start the vehicle without an issue. This is a very dangerous issue and this needs to be fixed ASAP.

I was driving on the long island expressway and as I was trying to accelerate, the gas pedal stopped working and the car slowed down. I attempted to press down on the gas pedal again, to no avail. The car started to decelerate. I had to put my hazard lights on and get on the shoulder. I put my foot under the gas pedal to see if anything was stuck under it, but there were no foreign objects. Luckily, I was not hit and I was in the right hand lane. This was a very potentially dangerous situation. *tr
