The vehicle did not recognize the key & didn't turn on and was not showing as parked. Called aaa to check the battery but was not it. Called towing service to get this moved to my mechanic & turns out this is due to bad electronic steering lock mechanism & only dealer can get this replaced and programed which costed me $1200. Checked & turns out this is a common problem with 2009 c300. Why is it not being recalled??? This can be very dangerous when on the road!!! Happened right before christmas so had to wait 2 days for my mechanic to check & towed again to dealer and now I'm still waiting for the car without a car for a week. This is very disappointing since I thought Mercedes was known for safety. Hope they will recall this issue & re-imburse the cost. *js

Yet another person with a electronic steering lock issue. I tried to leave work for lunch but was met with that issue. I had to have aaa tow me to the Mercedes dealership where they want 1200 to fix the problem....how are so many of us experiencing this issue but Mercedes isn't doing anything to fix it! *js
I have had the exact same issues like other Mercedes benz owners. My car suddenly not starting and the steering wheel did not unlock. I called aaa, they sent out a battery truck. The guy tried to jump it and it did nothing. Then they towed it to the mb dealer. They called me this morning after they tested it and said the electric steering lock needs to be replaced. The dealer charged me $1212. I am really frustrated.
Parked my vehicle in my garage for week 80,000 miles on vehicle. Tried to start car only remove keys light on dash and all electronics work. Mercedes tow says not battery but steering or ignition component are out! This is looking like a common problem please help because the dealers are wanting thousand or more to replace.
Vehicle not starting. Not turning over. Parked the car for about 20 min in my moms driveway. When we came out to leave. The vehicle will not start. The radio will turn on. The lights will turn on. When I open the door the odometer area tells me to remove my key. Tried to get a jump from aaa. When they arrived they said it wasn't the battery. Now I look on youtube and other mb blogs. And they say the fix is 1000$$$$$ to 3000$$$$$$ and this is a known problem with this model. I will update this when I know more.
Car would not start. Had to be towed to dealer. Repair cost 1150 dollars. One week without car. *tr

"takata recall" according to takata, in the event of an inflatorrupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Cars SRS light went on in red on dash after gasing and washing vehicle. Took to nervedes dealer and told SRS unit malfunctioning $800 attached diagnoses paid for fix and now there is recall. Will I be reimbursed for this same issue
Within a year and half, every few months, I get a notice from Mercedes benz company that there is a safety recall notice on airbag inflators priority group 4. However every time the notice states that the will be available in 3 months, but it does not happen. This is just buying time and may be full fill some regulations. Meanwhile consumer like me is in danger and the faulty airbags can cause my death in case of accident. Mercedes benz company needs to quit playing around and DOT needs to get involve.

The contact later received a recall notification for the air bags. The dealer was unable to supply the part within a reasonable time frame to receive the recall repair. Car was at the parking front of my home, about to go to work , car won't start , no warning , nothing, completely dead, had to be without car for a week, repair costs 1,200. Towed to Mercedes service. Specific issues was steering column lock failed. I have so many issues with this car, lights, windows, tires, control power fails many times when car is in driving mode. So many owners has same problems, it is a safety issues why this wasn't reported and recall on this one. Thought Mercedes cars are most reliable, obviously that's not true . *js
I currently own a 2009 Mercedes c300 that has ongoing problems with the brake light malfunctioning. This first happened in 2011 when the dummy light told me that the brake light was out. I brought my car to a local auto shop to have the light repaired and was told by the shop that they weren't able to change the bulb because the panel with the light was melted and smoking ' they suspected that the bulb was shorted out. They recommended taking it to the dealer to have it repaired, as the car was still under warranty. I did this and was told by Mercedes benz of st. Charles il that the electrical wires were melted'and that the panel needed to be replaced. This work was done at the st. Charles il dealer around november of 2011 and was covered under warranty. I brought my car to the
Without a warning or any dashboard lights my car did not start one morning, it made a gunck sound and absolutely nothing would turn on. My neighbor then tried to jump start the car and only the radio would turn on. I then called aaa who was the able to start my car and said the battery was good and that I should be okay to drive. (I had left nothing on the night before) I then went on a 3 hour drive during the christmas break and about and hour in the car began acting weird almost as if it wanted to shut off, and randomly a service "ABS and esp" and "air bag" and few other things would come on the dash board. As soon as I got to my destination and turned the car off the car went completely dead, this time I wouldn't even let me lock the car with the fob. I had aaa come again and they we

Hi, on my commute home from work, I was getting ready to exit the highway by decelerating. My car swerved and almost lost control when I began to press the brakes. There were no cars at 7am on the weekend, so I was able to coast to the light at the end of the 1/4 mile exit ramp. I continue home, but feel the car kicking out the rear end when I brake. At significantly lower speeds I look in the mirror as I brake and notice my rear right wheel turning inwards. I get home and when I wake up I lifted the car and checked to see what it was. The safety issue is that the rear bracket welded to the cross member that holds the rear tie rod craked.

Last week took vehicle to get serviced at Mercedes benz of beverly hills. When I got it back I heard a whistling/flapping noise. Immediately returned to Mercedes service. Was told its nothing of concern if the noise only happens in the mornings and dissipates when driving. Expressed concern about a 1100 mile road trip ahead and wanted to make sure it was safe to drive. Was reassured it was just fine. Upon arriving at my destination the noise escalated non-stop come to find out it was the belt tensioner on my vehicle. The serpentine belt was nearly shredded. The vehicle had about 70,000 miles on it. After doing some quick search online, it seems that this is not an isolated issue, but rather a widespread issue with this vehicle. I'm pissed that the service advisor played stupid
fuel system 1 complaint shown
I've noticed a severe gasoline smell (inside and outside) and vehicle will stall at times when starting the car, so we took it a dealer for diagnostic and get it fixed. They found left fuel sending unit was leaking from a plastic weld. It seems little odd to have this types of issues at a such young age of the car. *tr
