Brakes went to floor. As I came to a stop light almost hit car in front of me. Originally diagnosed as a bad master cylinder. No warning lights at all. Changed master cylinder and problem was not fixed. Dealership diagnosed it as a bad ABS actuator. Was told they would gladly fix it for 2200.00. Looks like I am not the only one who is having the same problem. Have been told bt local mechanics they see this problem all of the time and Nissan has done nothing about it. Recall needs to be done asap.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that upon the depression of the brake pedal, additional brake pedal travel time would be required to stop the vehicle as the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard. The contact described the brake as feeling "spongy" upon depression and that no warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact initially contacted an independent mechanic who bled the brake lines; however, the failure persisted. The contact then called the dealer who linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V916000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the contact was given an estimate for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him back to the dealer for assistance. The dealer agreed to repair the vehicl

The contact stated that the brake pedal had to be depressed for an extended amount of time and almost to the floorboard before the vehicle would come to a stop. The vehicle failed to stop immediately and took an extended amount of time. Hawkinson Nissan (located at 5513 miller circle drive, matteson, il 60443, 708-252-3769) diagnosed that the ABS had no failure with the hcu. The dealer flushed the brake fluid, but did not replace the hcu. The repairs were performed per NHTSA campaign number: 18v916000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the failure continued. The contact took the vehicle to a certified independent mechanic who informed the contact that there was a valve issue regarding the ABS, which was a mechanical defect. The manufacturer was
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Nissan murano. While driving 60 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle accelerated instead. Each time the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle would accelerate at a high speed. The brake pedal was depressed to the floor. The contact placed the vehicle in park, but the engine kept revving. The contact was able to turn the vehicle off, but once it restarted, the rpms kept increasing and a popping sound was heard. The vehicle was turned off again and operated normally when it was restarted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
Unpredictable behavior when applying brakes. Pedal very soft. Brakes done work properly regardless of whether vehicle is moving or not. I'm concerned that this may lead to an accident. Pads are new. System has no leaks or air bubbles.
The brakes in our 2009 Nissan murano intermittently fail about once or twice a month. When a failure occurs the brake pedal goes down to the floor and the vehicle slows, but does not stop. Several occurrences required a swerve off the road to avoid a collision. Several, but not all of these occurrences were preceded by a jolt to the vehicle (pothole, railroad track, etc.). No warning lights or ABS lights come on and no error codes are set. The condition lasts for a few minutes to a few hours then returns to completely normal operation. The local Nissan dealership cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle and were unable or unwilling to help.
ABS module failure. Needs replacement. In case of emergency, ABS,vdc and stability control are not going to control the vehicle. Also the tires lights warning and the brakes are on. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Nissan murano. While driving various speeds over a bump or gravel pavement, the brake pedal had to be depressed all the way to the floorboard in order to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dave smith Nissan (6901 e sprague ave, spokane, wa 99212, (509) 924-6242) several times where it was diagnosed with air in the brakes. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact found that the failure was under investigation with NHTSA per NHTSA action number: pe17002 (service brakes, air. Service brakes). The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
My vehicle has only 84,400 miles it and is well mantained also. I have noticed that my brake petal is being pushed to the floor to stop. It is taking a long time for the vehicle to stop, a lot of times I am pumping my brakes. I recently had my brakes check, assuming that their was a problem or it was time for me to get brakes and was advised that they were fine.
On 11/15/17 the brake pedal went to the floor on our 2009 Nissan murano when stopping at an intersection. It was raining at the time. The brakes continued to go to the floor when attempting to stop multiple times for about 2 miles. Turned car off and back on with same result. Towed to our local mechanics who found nothing wrong mechanically but found codes in the ABS system. Brake pedal returned to normal function on its own. Mechanics left codes and recommended to take to Nissan dealership. Took to dealership 11/27/17. Dealership stated that the only codes found in ABS system were old and did not indicate brake problem. No defects found. Dealership recommended to bring back if it happens again. Problem occurred again, this time in our driveway with snow. Towed the murano to the dealers
Bral\ke pedal fades, must pump brakes to stop. Dealer tried programming ABS module in august 2017. Problem has reocurred 12-24-17.
Loss of brake pressure following ABS activation. The vehicle was in motion on a city street and was not turning. The roads were partially snow covered and when trying to stop the vehicle the ABS activated. Following this event, the brake pedal traveled 3/4's if the way to the floor before the vehicle would begin to slow down. When I returned home, I repeatedly pumped the brakes until normal brake pressure was achieved. Brake fluid level was full and no leak was found upon inspection of brake system.
Vehicle brake pedal very soft, spongy, and squishy at all times (even with new brake pads, rotors, and properly bleed lines). Have lost brakes at one point completely, brake pedal touched ground. I tried to slow down on totally normal road conditions, my ABS engaged, but the pedal went to the floor and did not return. The top 10% of the pedal gives me 10% braking power, the middle 80% of the pedal travel does nothing, and only the bottom 10% of the pedal, just before it touches the floor, actually provides any real braking. As a result, the reaction time and stopping distance is terrible. This will cause an accident at some point. NHTSA is investigating, but needs to act and issue a recall for 2009 murano immediately.

Nissan performed warranty to CVT axle seal and transfer assy. Case seals at mileage 50,332. Then at 55,5570 on aug 02, 2011 Nissan had to replace the transfer case assy. (part number 3310-jp11b) under warranty , then on dec 12, 2012, mileage 80,841, the transfer case assy. (part number 3310-jp11c) failed again which Nissan replaced but no longer consider it under warranty and at a cost to me of $3700.66. Then at mileage 80,935 the transfer case assy. Seals began leaking which the dealer fixed under warranty from the previous repair work. We called the Nissan office as we thought the transfer case assy. Was cover under the CVT system extended warranty. Nissan is now claiming this is not part of the CVT system which they extended the warranty on up to 10 years or 120,000 miles even thoug
I have less than 57,000 miles on my 2009 murano. At 46,000 miles, I had to have my failed transmission replaced and I'm having issues again with it slipping into low gear. The dealership couldn't reproduce the issue, so nothing has been done to address it. I had to take my murano in for service again because I almost got into an accident when my brakes didn't work at 30 MPH and I had to quickly change lanes to avoid an accident. There wasn't any brake pressure and I had to push the brake peddle to the floor before it stopped.
The vehicle CVT becomes unstable. Vehicle unexpectedly loses power at times. Got off highway ramp and came to a normal stop. Stepped on accelerator to move into traffic. Vehicle hesitated and crawled slowly into traffic for 5 to 10 seconds before surging forward with accelerator to the floor. Nearly t-boned on several occasions. Have gone through 4 transmissions so far and the dealership is contemplating another replacement. I have no confidence another transmission will fix the problem since the same dangerous failure mode keeps showing up totally without warning. *tr

My college age daughter was driving home from college and heard a noise under the car. It is a miracle she made the 4 hour drive without a serious accident. We immediately had the car inspected by a local garage with an excellent reputation. They called me back to the repair bay and told me the main rear subframe or 'rear cradle' had rusted completely in half. The car has 111,000 miles in it and has been well maintained. The engine and interior are in perfect condition and should provide many more years of service. The car is unsafe to drive and the local repair shops are unwilling to make repairs because of the risk of bolts breaking off in the unibody frame. There are many many reports of this online and Nissan refuses to fix the situation after calling and working through their phone pr

The vehicle has shown problems that were previously recalled including tire monitoring system, passenger air bag warning light remains lit, and rear hatch fails to function. More recently the vehicle fails to start and has strong smell of gas. The fuel pump was replace by a certified mechanic but the problem persists, failure to start or run. In addition, the battery has drained even after being checked and recharged, clearly an electrical problem. The VIN number search shows no recall notices. Updated 2/10/2016*js
