The power steering goes out intermittently while driving and I have to shut the car off in order to fix it. I had the power steering assist motor replaced but this did not solve the issue. While researching, I found a recall on this very issue although it does not come up when I put in my vehicle's VIN number. It is recall NHTSA # 14v153000. Please let me know how I can get this issue fixed under this recall. I am fearful of driving my car as there is no warning of when this major safety issue is going to happen. *tr

Power steering loss while driving had to shut the car off and restart has happened to me 3 times this week and SRS pps problem
While driving down a city street and turning right down another street my dic flashed error message power steering. While nothing has happened as of yet on 12/26/2016, I have looked into the recalls regarding all other model years of the Pontiac g6 with the electric power steering issue. It concerns me deeply. This is my wife's car and she drives it to work daily, takes our 17 year old to work, and drives our 4 and 10 year olds places too. I'm fearing for there lives knowing that at any moment the power steering could go out and cause a fatal accident. While knowing that almost all other g6's are covered under the recall except ours is very upsetting. I can not afford to take this to a gm dealer for them to fix this issue. I'm not necessarily looking for free parts and labor to fix this is
Whenever the vehicle is stationary or even in motion at low speeds, the steering locks up. The vehicle has to be turned off then back on in order for the steering to be released. There has been recalls on the same model and year vehicle as mines, but my vehicle by VIN has not been affected by the recall. This is extremely dangerous and gm should recall all vehicles to have this issue resolved. My fiancee and children were in the car as she was backing up when the steering locked up. Another time she was turning the corner when the steering locked up. Please look into this because we can not afford the repairs and can not afford another vehicle.
Faulty steering torque sensor. Recall on year, make, model but doesnt include my VIN NHTSA recall # 14v-153, gm bulletin 14116. While my wife was driving the car it made an alarm noise, then the steering became almost impossible to turn. She was able to bring my car to a stop on the shoulder without hitting anything. After staring and stopping the car multiple times, around 10 minutes later, the steering returned. I contacted gm and they opened a case # [xxx]. They said to bring to the dealer and have it diagnosed. After paying $93 they said it was the steering torque sensor, which was a recalled item on a 2009 g6, but not my particular car. The dealer wanted over $750 to fix the problem. I disputed this to the dealer and they contacted gm who agreed to lower the cost to $250 w
Multiple instances of loss of power steering. In all cases vehicle was driven out of the traffic lanes, parked and engine shut off. Power steering was eventually restored on restart. There was no obvious pattern to the loss of power steering. Vehicle was taken to authorized gm service center for repair. Diagnostics trouble code c0545 steering wheel torque input resulted in replacement of a faulty steering column, reprogramming and setup at a cost of $741.00. Similar power steering issues are mentioned in NHTSA campaign id number 14v153000 but the VIN of my vehicle is not included in that recall. *tr
The power steering has completely stopped working. For about a week, the power steering was intermittently acting up, when I would start the vehicle. Eventually, the power steering would go out while driving, and a message of power steering would appear on the dashboard. My regular mechanic says that this is the result of a faulty power steering torque sensor.
Electronic power steering assist stopped working while I was driving down the highway almost causing me to wreck I pulled over and shut the car off and restarted car and steering assist turned back on it also happened to my wife in the same way
When driving power steering gave out while driving on a city street. Turn vehicle off and restart and works again. Took to dealer twice for this issue. First time said it was a recall now saying not recall but is same issue.

The drivers side, low beam headlight has been replaced several times. The wiring harness melts! This seems to be a common complaint with g6 owners. *js
Was driving and saw a flame from under the hood.*ln*jb
I have replaced 6 bulbs both driver and passenger side low beam lights I thought they were blown but come to find out they short because they are melting. I have replaced the wiring and the headlight sockets just for them to melt again. I have called chevorlet and gm motors to see why this isn't a safety issue??? Tonight I drove down a very dangerous road (we've had a wreck on this road every night this week) in very dangerous fog and my headlights went out thank god one of my brights worked and I had a quick reaction going 55mph not everyone will and that is a shame because chevorlet & gm motors know that they have an issue as they told me in our phone conversations. The wires to my headlights are melting I try not to drive at night because I'm terrified they will catch on fire as I'm dri

Driver side highlight not working. Further inspection shows that the headlight wire is corroded & burnt. This is a common issue with this car & several others, yet general motors refuses to issue a recall which can lead to a dangerous situation. *tr
Right headlight continues to blow out bulb. Replaced 3 times in 2 weeks. Not sure if there is a power surge causing the issue or a short in the wire. Appears to be a problem with this vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Pontiac g6. The contact stated that the driver's side headlight continued to fail. The dealer (lee peterson motors of yakima, 410 s 1st st, yakima, wa 98901, (509) 731-3946) stated that an extra part needed to be purchased concerning the wiring. The dealer was unable to retrieve the part. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
Left low beam not working. Replaced with new bulb twice in a month. Back in 2013, a month after purchasing used vehicle, I had the same problem. I replaces the left low beam light three times in one month and then took to dealer who sad the harness had melted. This needs to be recalled. This is seriously dangerous! *tr

Strong smell of gasoline noticeable from 10 or more feet away from vehicle when parked or running. Cannot park in garage due to strong fuel smell. Vehicle has not been overfilled. Smell has been noticeable for many months but is getting stronger lately. Researching this on the internet yields many results with similar complaints, focused on a defective elbow on the fuel pump assembly.
Strong fuel smell from rear of Pontiac G6 near fuel tank. This is a common problem due to a cracked elbow on top of the fuel pump. This issue is happening among all G6 models from 05 to 09 . This issue should be recalled as it is dangerous to the drivers , passengers or anyone that comes within 3 ft of Pontiacs that have this issue. Fuel odor can be smelt from further than 3ft that can damage to lungs, throat and multiple other health hazards. The fumes can reach even further witch is easily ignited if someone were to walk by with a cigarette This issue is common in 75% of Pontiac G6's on the road This defective part should be placed on recall and should definitely be looked into before someone loses their lives over an easily preventable occurrence from happening. The contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control), the cooling fans activated independently causing the air conditioner to fail. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 88,000. The VIN was unavailable.
