2009 Saturn Aura owner complaints

While driving back from work today I got this message // power steering service ESC// message after putting the vehicle in reverse while trying to turn.the steering became uncontrollable afterwards. After turning ignition off and back on the error message went away and things went back to normal.

Power steering keeps going off. Have to restart car to get it to work. Now it won’t work at all.

Power steering freezes for a few seconds and is back to normal again. The first incident was approximately in september 2014 and this has happened several times since then. Once a message appeared on the information screen 'power steering......', but went away by the time it could be completely read. *tr

Wife has repeatedly mentioned loss of power steering and for a petite woman each incident was quite scary for her. I drove it for two days before it happened to me. It was much worse than simply a car with no power steering, which I've owned before. It seemed like something was actively working to prevent the steering wheel from turning. The force required was at my own limits to steer adequately. The next time the car was started it was fine. However, it goes out while driving; about 40 MPH, in my case, as I was merging onto the highway. As others have mentioned, my VIN is not included in the recall for the torque angle steering sensor. I was pulling out of my job, and all of a sudden my car started slideing a little to the right and I had no power steering. Then in my dash it kept blinking power sterring ESC, its done it 3 times now..ive taken it to gm motor and pep boys and because it didn't happen to them they wont fix it.

I bought my 2009 Saturn aura in september of 2015. Just recently in december of 2016, whenever I started the vehicle, the steering wheel would begin to vibrate followed by the power steering warning light illuminating. Upon driving the vehicle, the power steering goes completely out at anytime. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Saturn aura. While driving various speeds, the power steering stopped working and the power steering warning indicator illuminated without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Power steering intermittently goes out while driving, only way to get it back is to restart the car. Happened 4 times within 30 minutes while driving on the highway.

My car pulls to the left despite having it aligned 3 times at 2 different shops. The power steering has failed completely 3 times within the last 3000 miles. Failure was noted as power steering whine followed by a blown hose or seal and loss of all fluid and power steering assistance. There is a recall #14116 for my make model and year which matches the symptoms of my problems but when contacting the manufacturer I was informed my VIN was not part of the recall.

The power steering fails intermittently while driving causing the vehicle to become extremely difficult to steer. This can happen at any speed and in any conditions.

Transmission clutch plate cracked per dealership. Car started shifting hard. Had the transmission failed on the expressway it could have caused an accident. *js

The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. The contact stated while attempting to shift into PARK, the vehicle began to roll backward. The contact stated that the following day, the vehicle was unable to shift into PARK. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V460000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Car stopped, no accident involved. Local mechanic inspected and told me that the transmission cable had broken. Brought to courtesy motors in lafayette, la.. I was informed that the 2009 model was not a part of the recall that involved other saturns that had been recalled through 2008. I purchased my 2009 in late 2008 and I would think that the same type part was used in the 2009. GMC will not repair the part at their cost. I think that the 2009 models should have been recalled as well as all other model years, for the safety of those buyers of 2009 models (the last year they were sold).. *tr

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH on ice, the vehicle slid and crashed into a median, spun across three lanes, and crashed into a hill. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained unknown injuries that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was informed that the frontal impact was not the initial impact; therefore, the air bags would not have deployed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I was driving north on the hwy and the other person ran a stop sign and t-boned me on the driver side. My face and body smashed into the drivers door causing sever whiplash and some other things yet identified by an orthopedic surgeon. The drivers door and rear drivers door is smashed all the way to the seats, pushing on the seats and none of the airbags deployed. I am still seeing doctors to figure out what is wrong with my shoulder, neck and back. Needless to say medical care is still needed. *tr

The drivers door and rear drivers side was smashed pushing up against the seats (front and back) none of the airbags deployed. While turning left through a busy intersection power steering was lost and I almost side swiped another vehicle . The recall that is active does not include this VIN number , even though it had the same failure . I believe this should either be expanded or taken on by case . *tr

I began having issues with my car constantly jerking as the car accelerated up to 40mph. I assumed I must have put bad gas in my car since I visited a gas station I normally do not frequent. I took the car in and they claimed it was bad gas but here we are a year later with the same issues and clearly it was not bad gas and I got ripped off for replacing my fuel pump and having to pay for a rental car. Windshield wiper motors have failed after less than 60,000 miles on the car.

My wife had her coat caught in the door after she exited and the car began to move away. When the car is in drive, the door cannot be opened from the outside. She lost her balance and fell, losing her balance, broke her wrist. She could not open the door because it was locked automatically.. The car is a 2009 Saturn aura. The manual says that automatic locking of doors is programmed and can't be changed. This is not safe!! She could have been thrown under the car. *tr
