I was the operator of the vehicle on my driveway when the engine suddenly accelerated. The accelerator was wide open while I was hard on the brakes. I was able to put the gear shift into park, and once I did the engine stopped its acceleration. I was on hard concrete, thus the rear wheels spun freely without catching traction. The vehicle left roughly 30" of front and rear wheel marks. The vehicle has run normally since the incident. *tr
I have a 2009 Toyota tundra with the 5.7l engine and 6 speed auto transmission. Intermittent shifting occurs as slow speeds, with the vehicle acting like the transmission is in neutral. This has caused serious concern when trying to accelerate and could lead to a potential accident. I have also had this occur on slick surfaces, with the engine revving up before the transmission engages. This has caused extreme tire slippage and risk of losing control. I have had this truck into the dealership three times and have had their quality team look at it, with no satisfactory resolution. Other owners of tundras are also reporting this same phenomena, and concerns, with no resolution from Toyota. We all need your help to get corrective action put in place. An accident is waiting to happen,
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Toyota tundra double cab sr5. The contact stated that the transmission was not shifting properly and when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would independently downshift to 1st gear. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where they added transmission fluid but the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer who stated that there was too much transmission fluid in the vehicle and advised the contact to replace the transmission. The current mileage was 31,324 and the failure mileage was 30,000. Updated 8/30/11 *cn the consumer stated when depressing the gas pedal at approximately 10 MPH. The engine revved up but the vehicle failed to accelerate for 6-7 seconds as the transmission searched for the correct gear. Updated 10/03/
Truck gets a bump after coming to a stop. Sometimes it's gets a really hard bump and sometimes it's just a little bump. I kept thinking I got hit as it is very noticeable. No one seems to know why, but I do know this, it only happens when the a/c is running. I believe it's a computer software problem. It took a couple of years because I found out it only happens when the weather gets warm and I use the a/c. Seems like quite a few people are having the same problem and the dealer is saying "I don't know anything" because they can't duplicate the problem, however I seem to be able to duplicate it all the time. *js
Purchased a 2009 Toyota tundra with 67 miles on it, at about 12,000 miles it started to make a dragging sound from the front drive train. Took it to the dealer and they said that they could not hear or find anything wrong with it. Had it back another time for inspection and mentioned noise again but still they could not "hear anything". I have been driving the truck since then with the noise coming and subsiding, the truck now has 46,000 miles on it and the noise has gotten progressively worse with vibrations on the highway. The seven year warranty ran out and I'm sure that if I take it back to the dealer they will now hear the noise. I looked at online forums and this seems to be a common problem with these trucks, Toyota has to know there is a problem. I don't know why there has not been

I had the accelerator stick two times recently. My tires spun very fast and I almost took off into a very busy highway. I would have been killed if I didn't quickly put the truck in neutral until the engine revved down. This is a helpless feeling and something is not right with the manufacturing of the truck.
My 2009 Toyota tundra frequently stalls after slowing from high way speed for a turn onto a side road or after braking to a slow speed while driving after which I normally reaccerlate. This is a 5.7 l I-force v8, 6 speed automatic trans.
The check engine light came on in my vehicle during a five mile trip to work and is still on. The diagnostic code revealed a fault in an air valve. After some research I discovered that Toyota issued an extended warranty on this part because of a known issue affecting the same year/make/model as my tundra. I called the dealership to ask about the repair process as I was within the 10 year/150k mile extended warranty period. They stated the part was replaced in 2014. I was then directed to call Toyota customer service. Customer service told me they could not honor the extended warranty because the part was already replaced. I do not have faith that replacing the part will fix my truck in the long run. Toyota obviously identified a fault with their trucks and extended the warranty on a k
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Toyota tundra. The contact stated that the stability control system failed. While driving 60 MPH and hauling a loaded trailer, according to the estimated capacity, the rear passenger side tire blew out and caused the trailer and the vehicle to lose control. The stability control system engaged and failed to stabilize the vehicle. As a result, the contact crashed into a ditch. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 187,000.
Air injection system failed while driving up hill. Vehicle would only drive on flat or downhill, no more than 35 MPH. Toyota had an extended warranty of 10 yrs or 150k. Which our vehicle is 103k and 10 years 1 month. Toyota would not fit us into the warranty.

Truck has extreme vibration, bounce and overall shake at freeway speeds as felt throughout the vehicle. This combined with the very light steering and accelerator effort leads to a very unstable feeling of not being in control of the vehicle. It is difficult to maintain even and steady accelerator pressure and steering direction. Dealership has rotated and balanced tires and performed alignment, but has made zero difference. *tr

My 2009 Toyota tundra was repaired by Toyota this past friday as a result of the throttle body sticking open..ie would stall. After repairs, the truck drove fine for 2 hrs approx. After stopping for supper (1hr) I started my truck again...this time the engine accelerated in park upto 5,000 + rpms for 10-15secs and then down to 500 rmps...then repeated this over and over. I waited til the rpms dropped to 500 and placed truck in gear to try to get it home. The truck accelerated and took off on its own...almost taking me through a red light. I was able to press hard enough on the brakes to stop in time....then it took off again for another block without me doing anything but riding the brakes. I turned into a randalls parking lot when rpms dropped to 500 again,...dodging people who were
