Takata recall has not been resolved. In addition the dash panel is cracked next to the passengers side airbag.
Dashboard containing passenger side is severely cracked. In the event of an airbag deployment, dashboard may prevent proper operation of airbag or may shatter resulting in parts of the dashboard being projectiles towards the occupants of the vehicle. Gm dealer cost to replace dashboard is prohibitive. The dashboards should be replaced with new style that gm dealer claims no longer cracks or the airbag disabled.
Cracked upper end of dash board. Three separate cracks appeared on the upper part of the dash, one is going right across where the passenger air bag is located. This happened for no apparent reason. The vehicle had about 89000 miles on it when I first observed the issue. It rattles like crazy while driving on city roads and it is probably a mojor safety issue in the event of a air bag deployment.
Airbag recall has been open since 2016 without a remedy.
Tl* takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet avalanche. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. An unknown dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Stabilitrac and traction control lights came on along with service both and the check engine light is on and sometimes flashes. Truck is idling very rough and seems to downshift hard from 2nd to 1st.
Dashboard on passenger side right above airbag has cracked. Noticed it when getting into vehicle after finishing work around 4:15pm. It was parked in the shade since 7:45am on a cool fall sunny day. I'm worried in the event of an accident, the airbag could possibly deploy shrapnel from the broken dash and hurt someone. Searching online shows this is a common issue with the gmt900 platform trucks from 2007-2011 and gm is not doing much if anything about it.
The dash of my 2010 avalanche is cracked near the passenger airbag. This crack appeared overnight while the vehicle was parked in my driveway. Now the center center connection of the dash panel has cracked as well creating distracting noises. Most importantly, the cracked piece around the airbag area could become a sharp projectile if the airbag is deployed.
Heard a Loud Pop Bang noise then discovered Dash cracked in several multiple places. Currently need to have airbags attended to as when I last called when it was convenient for me to take vehicle into repair , the repair place can’t meet my needs for time frame to repair. Am now afraid driving with all the cracks in dash but can Not be without vehicle.
Cracked dashboard at passenger air bag and front dash speaker.

The dash is cracked around the passenger side airbag. Upon checking the internet I found this is a common problem on Chevrolet trucks. I am concerned that the structural integrity of the air bag may be compromised in the event of the air bag deployment. It may be possible that pieces of the airbag could break off and strike the occupant in the passenger seat or it may deflect the air bag altogether. Chevrolet is not taking the responsibility for fixing this even though it is not a part that would receive wear and tear and it is just an obvious defect in the design. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet avalanche 1500. While driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. In addition, the steering and braking ability failed, the radio was inoperative, and the stability control warning indicator illuminated. After five minutes, the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that the failures occurred sporadically for six weeks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (bleecker Chevrolet, 1200 cumberland street, dunn, nc 28334) to be diagnosed, but they were not able to replicate the failures. The dealer replaced the battery and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case number: [xxx] the approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Thus far, nothing has "happened" with my vehicle, but there has been a recall in effect for the airbags in my vehicle for well over a year and nothing has been done to replace the airbags. I am also having some electrical problems with my truck not shutting off when I remove the key, and the interior dome lights will not turn on when the button is pressed (this has all began since the recall was initiated but not taken care of). I just want my airbags replaced, as they are supposed to be, given the recall, and if the recalled parts are responsible for the additional problems I am now having with my truck, I want those addressed and repaired as well. The length of time this has taken to address is beyond unreasonable and I have been as patient as I can be waiting for this recalled part

Vehicle suffers from excessive front/side window fogging in below freezing temperatures and the manual HVAC controls will not permit the use of a/c to remove the humidity from the cabin. In summer months or temperatures above freezing, the a/c will engage when the front window defroster is enabled and is effective. With the HVAC system in full defrost and no a/c, the fogging actually gets worse and visibility decreases to the point where it is no longer safe to drive and we have had to pull over and wipe the windshield and side glass down. This has happened 6 or so times since acquiring the vehicle new in 2010. An attempt to have the dealer resolve it was not successful. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet avalanche. While driving approximately 50 MPH with the windshield wipers activated, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle regained power within less than a minute. The contact stated that the failure recurred an additional two times; however, the windshield wipers were not activated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

In October of 2020, my avalanche only would start in winter after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. It was also on numerous occasions go into limp mode while driving at normal city speeds meaning it wouldn’t go above 25 miles an hour. The entire dash would light up. It threw numerous codes. Had to be towed to get it looked at but then would mysteriously start without issue. I took it to young Buick gmc in Layton Utah with no resolution. Finally in December 2020 it was determined by now Heritage Chevrolet in Evanston Wyoming to be the Onstar module. This part was no longer available and couldn’t be replaced. The dealership’s solution was to wire around the faulty part which has allowed the truck to start and no longer go into limp mode from 70mph on highway to 20mph without noti
