2010 Ford Explorer owner complaints

Truck recently start having problems, has correct amount of transmission fluid, everything. Transmission light came on car stalled, restarted the car tge car drove but acted like it was slipping, light still on, took it to mechanic... The light did not give any codes of any sort on any of their scan tools car drives fine today kind of, it "falls" out of gear when I come to a stop and kinda stutters when I begin to drive. Again there should be no reason for this unless a manufacturer defect is the cause. Correct fluid levels, clean fluid, regularly changed as scheduled in the manual. Vehicle only has 119,xxx miles. Ridiculous. Note the light does not even come on anymore.

"takata recall"-diagnosis/engine light(wrench coming up on screen)-code po741 transmission torque converter system stuck off. PCM won't command transmission to shift and when does command transmission will slip. Taken to Ford dealer-sheehy Ford mercury Lincoln mercury-10601 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 804-794-0500-after mechanic was not able to obtain parts 9l2a-12a650-fd & 9l2a-aa. Advised cost to repair will be $5,600 or more. Had to put 20% deposit or $3,400.00 down before work could begin. As I speak to other Ford owners, advised that they had to make same repair. Wrench light warning appears while driving.

I own a 2010 Ford explorer xlt 4x4 that I purchased new in 2009. At approximately 30,000 miles the driver's side front wheel bearings wore out and were replaced under warranty. A second time after warranty at approximately 55, 000 miles the same wheel bearings were replaced at a cost of over $500. The entire wheel hub assembly was replaced and I was told by the dealer that this is fairly common? The truck now has only 66, 000 miles on it and has 3 sets of wheel bearings on the same side. What kind of defect in the front end can be causing this? (I rarely use the four wheel drive if this helps). *tr

Coming to a complete stop with my foot on the brake, the engine all of a sudden surged forward. I was not able to stop it with the brakes. It surged so fast and hard that it rear ended a yukon which was parked about 10 feet in front of me , which forced the yukon forward approximately 7 feet which then broadsided a parked pickup. This accident happened in a parking area, adjacent to a gas station. My daughter was unbuckling from her seatbelt when the vehicle surged forward and caused her head to hit the windshield. We rented a 2011 4x4 explorer for a ski trip to tahoe. Once we came off the pass, the rsc lights came on. The antilock and slip lights also came on. The car lost almost all braking ability on snowy roads. It was undrivable and scary. The rental car company responded immediately and sent a new vehicle out to us given the gravity of the situation. We had chains on the rear tires when this happened. We had 4 kids inthe car. Had the problem happened on the pass, we could have gone off the cliff. We almost ran into people and a light pole. *tr

The head rest on my 2010 Ford explorer leans so far forward that it forces my head down and forward. The dealer cannot adjust it so that you can sit normally. The only recourse is to remove the head rest. This is a safety issue because you can't drive with it and removing it removes any protection. *tr

The contact has experienced discomfort while driving even when he attempted to rest his shoulders against the back of the seat. The vehicle was purchased seven days ago without him test driving it. The dealer advised the contact that they were unable to make any repairs since all of 2010 Ford explorers were designed with that type of headrest. The dealer recommended that the contact rotate the headrest; however, the driver stated that the headrest would not serve it?s purpose. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 100.

I was stuck in traffic and as I was at a full stop, I saw that the car in front of me had moved. So I began to accelerate. When I saw the car in front of me had stopped, I went to hit the brakes and nothing happened. I hit them again and still nothing, my car kept on going. By the third slam on the brakes it finally took however I ended up hitting the car in front of me and her the car in front of her. This is not okay!!! My vehicle is only 2 years old and I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Why hasn't a recall occurred? Does someone need to pass away for one to happen? My accident could have been worse. I was approaching a red light and pressed the brake. There was a truck infront of me, the harder I pushes the break the more the engine tried to accelerate. The tires were screeching but the engine was still trying to go. Me and my kids could have been seriously injured and I would have been held responsible for hitting another vehicle in the rear end. I have an appointment to take it to the dealership tomorrow. Hoping they can find a fix before it seriously injures my family or someone else's loved ones. *tr

Incident has happened 4 times. Car is in drive and moving forward. When moving foot to apply brake and pushing down on brake pedal the gas pedal is also engaged causing the car to have the brake and gas applied at the same time. The harder I push on the brake the more gas is given to the engine. Since the car is already moving forward, removing my foot from the brake will let the car move forward. The first time this happened I was approaching a red light. Only by putting the car in neutral was I able to control the situation. I took the car to the dealership as I thought there was a mechanical problem. They could find nothing wrong. It was only after the 2nd time this happened I realized I was applying the brake and gas at the same time. Even though I am aware this can happen, it happened

The air bag light will not go off. I have checked the the wiring, cleared the area, and checked all fuses. All checked out okay. I'm a new buyer and can't register the car until it passes inspection. My only conclusion is that it possibly has a defect or has been previously been deployed. There is no record of a previous collision as of yet, although that may not be factual as the car has had a drivers door panel replaced. Can you help with the air bag information? Here in the last few weeks the air bag light come on air bag . Light come on as I was driving o road. It dose this some times and don't at other times.

Oil leak in both valve gasket covers oil on the crossmember it started slow then it was traced by Ford to the gaskets(fire hazard) 120 k on odometer

Wheel bearings making noise gets worse could lose wheel truck has 62000 miles. Have heard of many of these same models having same problems. I think Ford should recall this model for bearing replacement.
