The back door locks will not unlock; I have tried to change the "child proof lock" to be disengaged, but how do you get the door open to even change it if the door won't unlock. This happens on and off; not all the time; sometimes the door will open; sometimes they won't. This is very dangerous if you needed to get out of the vehicle in an emergency. Was there a recall on these doors? Thank you. *tr

I made an appointment with Ford had my car towed over so they can do a diagnosis on the transmission which they charged me me $110.00 dollars and.I highly doubt they even checked the vehicle I had to tow it back to my house. They tried charging me.$4000 for a new transmission which they are aware it's defective on focus and fiesta models instead of telling me that they went and let me spend $300 plus dollars on nothing I had tried to change out transmission oil and it worked for a while. I am a college student on a grant. And I feel Ford risked my life by not informing me how bad the transmission is on this vehicle plus on my service history they lied and said they serviced my car which is not the case.

Door locks working intermittent to a point of not unlocking all together. Passenger doors will not open, from the inside, when the door is locked, with child protection lock disengaged. This is a dangerous situation if a fire or traffic accident should occur. Checked online and numerous complaints of the same issue exists on Ford products.

The car started jerking forward at a stop light - turned the heat off and it stopped jerking. Pulled into a parking space and put the car in park it started revving itself and jerking forward (made it up to 2000rmp before I could turn it off). Was at a stop sign and the car started jerking forward - before I could turn the heat off the car stalled out completely. Took to the dealership said the throttle body needed to be replaced. Car jerked forward: idle, park and occasionally in drive. I know that other Ford models have had problems with the throttle body and I believe that Ford recalled and fixed the other models. It makes me wonder if the focus is having the same problem as the other models did. Maybe the recall should be extended to the focus also. *js

After 3 service bulletins for various parts of this transmission I believe Ford should give a lifetime warranty for the entire transmission.

Doors randomly fail to open from inside. Most of the time it is the rear doors and can only be unlocked from the master (front) release. It acts as if the child lock is engaged, but have verified it is not. I see this is a problem from numerous owners, so will have it checked at the next service visit. Just wanted to add my car to the other complaints. *js

2010 Ford focus driver's front brake pad completely worn away prior to 18,000 miles, took in for warranty coverage and told if the calipur was bad it would be replaced per warranty. Ford tech stated caliper was sticking but I was over the 18,000 mile timeframe for maintenance issues. I contacted several independant brake companies and was told that there was no reason for the brakes to fail at that mileage and age. Ford wanted to charge almost $500 for repair. Took to another independant brake service place and was told that the caliper is sticking, had to replace driver's front brake pad as it was worn metal to metal and did damage to the rotor. No warning that brakes were going bad until the pad was completely worn away at which time I contacted Ford and took it in. Ford refused t

It had trouble starting. We thought to believe it was the battery, but knowing I changed the battery within the last year, skeptical. Now it won't start at all. My mechanic says it has to do with either the switch, cylinder or whole assembly. *tr

The dashboard display incorrectly states that the drivers door is open when it isn't. This causes the dashboard display to "lock" and I can no longer see the odometer or the mileage. Furthermore the interior lights continuously stay on even when traveling down the road (this results in a safety issue as the interior lights make it difficult to see the road at night). Also, the incorrect open door condition does not allow me to lock any of the doors (another safety defect), as soon as I lock the door they all automatically unlock! Obviously Ford has overstated the incorrect open door condition which thereby causes undue safety issues that can not be corrected by the driver/operator. I understand the value of having a dashboard display monitor for a open door condition, however this sho

Vehicle idle fluctuates from 500 RPM to 2000 RPM while stopped at light or stop sign. Engine kills id idling too long or while turning steering wheel when parallel parking. Grinding sound and excessive engine vibration while accelerating on highway about 2000 RPM. Dealer and independent mechanic determined it is a failure with the throttle body. Dealer claims it is not covered by warranty. Mechanic disagrees. These issues have been occurring for the last 18 months approximately.

This car was just purchased. Parked car in driveway and the next morning my wife could not start the car. I called seller and he said to 'wiggle" steering wheel and car would start.wife could not accomplish this feat. I tried and with much force got the wheel to move and then car started. Problem seems to be in steering wheel. This seems to be a real poor design. I am taking the car to : locksmith and then Ford dealer to see what the "fix" actually is. Have seen many complaints on this site and others. *tr
