On my 2010 Hyundai santa fe, the transmission intermittently slips, then slams into gear with such force that the vehicle lurches forward, and feels like you are being rear-ended. There are numerous other reports of this happening, however Hyundai has not issued a recall for same, and the dealer has been unable to fix the issue. *tr

I have a 2010 Hyundai santa fe, gls. While driving it, the transmission broke. I was able to maneuver, and pull over. It did not move at all. It just happened without any warnings or previous problems, noises, etc. It has 21,082 miles / 7months of use. *tr
I bought a pre-owned 2010 Hyundai santa fe on 12/13/10 with ~14k miles I was driving to phoenix today 12/25/10 and when leaving a stop light there was a clunk and then my transmission went out. After doing research today I have found that 2010 santa fe's have issue with their transmission but no recalls have been issued. Me and my 13 year old daughter are now stranded in phoenix until we can get it repaired. Please push for a recall so this stops happening to people and Hyundai corrects this problem once and for all. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Hyundai santa fe. While driving 20 MPH and attempting to merge into traffic, the vehicle hesitated and made a loud noise. The contact stated that the automatic transmission appeared to fail to shift gears. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased in 2010. The vehicle was taken to hudson Hyundai (977 communipaw ave, jersey city, nj 07304, (866) 710-6765), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact continued to drive the vehicle as the failure progressed over the years. While driving to the dealer, the failure occurred at least six times. The contact stated that diagnostic testing could not find an error. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failu
Bought our 2010 santa fe with 2700 miles (the owners wife had been driving it) on november 11th. Almost immediately I noticed that it banged loudly and lurched somewhat upon going from reverse to drive. It does it at any time of day so it's not limited to cold starts. Brought into dealership where they tested and reset the computer. My service manager seemed to be aware of the obvious problems the transmission is having. Then was told it was my transmission and they ordered a replacement. I asked if it would be new or rebuilt, they said new. Then I was told it was policy to put in rebuilt. It only has 5000 miles on it! After some conversation, they agreed to put a new transmission in it. They still have my vehicle-over a week now and I might not get it back for another week. Still don
I have a 2010 Hyundai santa fe. The transmission slips and I get a hard shift with a loud bang when shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. It seems to do this when the transmission is cold but it does it even when warm. I had mine in 3 times for repair with a new transmission on the last repair. The new transmission is the same as the original one. Hyundai knows about this and they knew about when I bought the car. I should have been notified when I was buying the car - not finding out after the fact. The dealer gives me the deer in the headlights look when I complain about this like they have never heard about it before. *tr
The car makes a jerking sound when switching from park to drive or reverse when it's hot. It also jerks like it doesn't know what gear to go into while driving on occasions.
Safety: 2010 Hyundai santa fe engine seems to race at slow speeds/coasting, then automatic transmission "skips" then "slams" back into gear. Brought back into dealership twice, first was told they had heard of a similar issue but that it was "within tolerance" so it was not fixed, when it happened again and before starting a long trip I took it back and had their senior tech drive it home (to see if cold starting could be a contributor) they "reprogrammed" the transmission and told us it would be in "learning mode" for the next few thousand miles. Problem has happened twice more in heavy traffic. Want to take it back for repair but need some help in telling them what (and obviously from the online forums) how widespread this issue is. *tr
I have a 2010 Hyundai sante fe util. I believe I am having an issue with my "all wheel drive coupler". My wife uses this vehicle. Currently we are experiencing loud bangs that feel like we are being hit from behind while the car is moving. It is in the back of the vehicle. When I investigated this online I see many other people with the same issue. I am wondering why this is not considered a recall. I feel my wife and child are in danger while riding in this vehicle. Please investigate and protect the public by calling for a recall with this issue.
We purchased 2010 Hyundai santa fe almost from the start we notice an occasion she would bang into gear while driving in 30 - 40 MPH traffic and stops. After numerous trips to dealer their answer was they couldn't duplicate. The last 2 trips to the dealer I explained if you drive in stop & go traffic moving about 30-40 MPH you will feel the bang like you have been rear ended. I was told the cannot test for that period of time they reflash the computer. Then listed it as unable to duplicate and set up n appointment with a factory rep. For december 15,2010 @10:30am. My wife will not currently take her parents for treatments at the medical center because the bang startles here parents and she fears a breakdown. Unacceptable for a car less than one year old. *tr

Dec 16, 2011 around 9:45am my husband and I had just picked my sister and brother in law up from the airport and had decided on grabbing some breakfast from waffle house. I had come to a complete stop to turn right into the restaurant parking lot; I then drove about 15 feet going maybe 5 MPH to come to a complete stop to then turn right to get ready to enter into the parking spot. Once I released my foot from the break (not needing to apply the gas as my parking was maybe 20 feet to my right and the car should accelerate at a low speed on its own) the 2010 santa fe took off at an alarming speed I pressed my foot all way back down on the brake but the car did not stop. I then looked down to see if my foot was on the brake it was down to the floor board. The santa fe went over the parking s
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate uphill, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact engaged the emergency brake, shifted out of drive and then back into drive. As the contact applied the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lunged forward abnormally. The headlight lens housings (2) have deteriorated to the point that the headlights fail to properly light the road. This not a case of the housings yellowing but rather the housing material has developed fractures and is crumbling on the interior and exterior. There is no method to correct this fracturing. This manufacturing defect has been reported to the Hyundai dealer repeatedly over the last four years.

Vehicle stalled at low speed or turning on numerous occasions .stalls and then will start back up. Most recent incident, 12-13-2014, it stalled 3 times within 25 minutes when slowing to a stop. I've taken to Hyundai in the past, they could not identify and issue, charged me $50.00 to adjust break light switch, which they stated should fix it. I checked on-line & located the 3.5 sante fe low speed engine RPM logic revision service campaign which they will reprogram the vehicles ECM in certain vehicles with 3.5 engines. I tried to use the on-line VIN verification & guess what ,it states mine was not one of the one with issues, it was made in alabama, 2010 & 3.5, same stalling issues as everyone else. I want my vehicle covered by this service campaign. *tr

While driving one morning, suddenly the passenger door just opened on its own. We could not get it to latch at all. I had to ride holding the door closed until we could get home to get bungee cords to hold it closed. This happened on a busy city street just going straight. And again when we turned, but we anticipated it and held the door shut. So l took it to the dealer the next morning (monday), and they said it was a door actuator and latch assembly. No vehicle should ever have a door that cannot latch! This is a terrifying incident. When they had to order the part, I told them to fix the door where it would not open when driving to and from work the next day. Didn't work. Going down the interstate with the door flopping back and forth--enough to allow fumes inside the vehicle

Brake hard to stop even after pressing really hard down on them. Vehicle only slows down to 20mph when initially slam on the brake. I almost rear ended someone. I was only driving no more than 40 MPH on a 50 MPH zone. Brake feels really hard and does not work when slam on. *tr
