2010 Lincoln MKT owner complaints

2010 Lincoln mkt- we were traveling home on christmas eve 2015 in goffstown, nh when suddenly out of nowhere as we were turning a corner the steering wheel tightened up and just about locked into place in the turn. We had just got off the highway returning from my in-laws from 40 miles away. Luckily there was nobody in that intersection because I was clearly on the wrong side of the road after this happened and nearly missed going into the ditch. The time of day was also a blessing in disguise because it was just about midnight and we were almost home so the kids could open some gifts. I looked down at the dashboard and the service power steering/service traction control light was flashing. A bit late to say the least. Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Lincoln mkt. While driving approximately 25-35 MPH, the service power steering warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle became very difficult to steer. The vehicle was taken to hertrich capitol Lincoln (1127 s dupont hwy, dover, de 19901, (302) 241-0087) where it was diagnosed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Driving in the highway the power steering got stock & almost loose control and I put over them the stering became hard to turn

I purchased the car used a month ago. Today is the second day that after starting the car the dash displayed a power steering fault message. Sure enough I can barely steer the car. Each time I turned the car off, waited 30 seconds, turned the car back on and the problem went away.

The steering all of a sudden became impossible to turn the vehicle. I almost had an accident trying to get over to the shoulder. While pulling over on the shoulder the warning signal on the mirror didn’t tell me that another car was next to me. These issues could have cost me my life

The gears on this vehicle are not riding smooth, when your driving uphill it sounds and feels like it's falling apart. And the headlight on the driver side went out, they say it's not the bulb but an electrical issue.. *tr

I have two complaints on this vehicle. 1. Driving down the road and hear a loud explosion that was the moonroof,. 2. The water pump was defective and put coolant into my oil and ruined the engine. This seems to have happened way too many times for this not to be a recall on both of these. My car literally overheated out of nowhere.

Takata recall. While driving on the highway, with no other vehicles near us, our moonroof exploded. We were not near any overpass. No other vehicle or person was involved. It is apparent that it exploded outward. This vehicle is garage kept. Nothing ever fell on top of car or scraped it. We are out $1000.00 + rental car exp.

On september 23, 2010 I picked up my first Ford car; a 2010 Lincoln mkt from ted russell Ford in knoxville, tennessee. After riding in the car a few days it was evident no matter how we adjusted the front row seating the head restraints left us with a stiff neck at the end of the ride. The service manager, mr. Perry ball, advised us the only option to our problem was to remove the head restraints. This is not a safe option. Please provide us with a safe resolution to this problem. *tr

The large tempered glass roof panel of the panoramic "vista roof" on my 2010 Lincoln mkt shattered without warning with a loud, frightening explosion while driving 65 MPH on the ny thruway on november 30, 2014. The panel was not displaced, although small pieces of glass fell onto the head liner. Luckily, the sun shade was closed at the time. It was a miracle there was not a serious accident, given the volume of traffic at the time. Research discloses that similar events have happened numerous times with other Lincoln automobiles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns 2010 Lincoln mkt. While driving approximately 30 MPH, the contact noticed that when he rolls his rear passenger window down it made a loud bumping noise. The faster the vehicle is in motion, then the louder the noise became. The dealer was contacted but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was informed who was aware of the problem, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 10,000. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

Sun roof exploded showering driver and passenger with shards of glass cutting hands and arms. I believe the sun roof should be laninated glass. *tr

Repeated brake failure starting december 16, 2009. Occurs every time we start using the car after it has sat for awhile until brakes are pumped up or several stops are made. 2 front calipers were leaking but problem continues. We have a complete timeline of events available. *tr

Within weeks of getting my 2010 Lincoln mkt the brakes were acting strange and making a grinding sound. I felt that the stops were getting dangerously unresponsive. I took the car in for service and after putting 50 miles on my car was told they could not find anything wrong. I took my car back and the brake problem got worse and everyone who rode in my car would comment on the noise my car made as I applied pressure on the brakes. I took it back and was told that another model had experienced the same problem and that they were just going to replace the brakes. After a few days the noises and my discomfort driving the car began again. I also know someone who has the same car with the same exact problem, that Lincoln has been unable to remedy. Front sub frame rusted out completely on drivers side, passenger side is fine. The frame could separate at any time which could cause you to loss control of car without warning. Took car to get lower control arm replaced and repair shop saw rust damage to sub frame and took pictures. Called Ford to tell them about issue, they are having a dealer inspect it on 11/25/2022.

The contact stated that the engine remained on after the vehicle was turned off. In addition, the passenger side door handle was fractured. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the check engine reduced power and low oil pressure warning lights illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The technician diagnosed that the battery had to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,932. The VIN was not available.

I have a 2010 Lincoln mkt and I have been having trouble with the power steering. It randomly stops working and it difficult to steer the car. I almost hit a mailbox today because the steering became so stiff and the alert came up on my dash. There is a recall for the 2011 and 2012 models but the NHTSA recall should include the 2010 models as well. I have children and this is a huge safety hazard! I won't even be able to resell the car in this condition as it is random. Please consider looking into this issue promptly as I can see there have been other complaints and my situation is not unique. I pray to god I don't get in an accident because I don't have any other options for transportation and will try to avoid using the interstate in meantime. Thank you for your time! Please update me a
