2010 Nissan Cube owner complaints

Electronic steering column lock (escl) was malfunctioning, as diagnosed by a Nissan dealer. The car was parked in a parking garage, and it would not start, no engine, or into acc mode because the escl did not sense the brake pedal being pressed or the wheel in an unlocked position. The brake pedal was stiff, and engine start button did not work. A solid amber key icon on the dash board would come up and disappear. The car had to be towed to the dealership. Did some research, and it turns out that Nissan had problems w several escl parts revised over time in various models from 2009-2010 including cube 2009 and altima/maxima 2010 which seemed to share the same escl part used in cube 2010. Waiting to hear from the dealer if Nissan covers for this issue. *tr

My car starts when it feels like it. I've been stranded at the store after dropping off a child at sports practice, stranded in my own garage unable to take my child to school or get to work. It appears to be the steering lock mechanism issue that abounds in the 2010 cube. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. I now have to phone a friend and tell them I'm leaving and where I'm going in case I get stranded and can't make it back! *tr

I recently had my steering lock mechanism go out on my 2010 Nissan cube and leave me stranded. I had my vehicle towed because it would no longer start thinking it was a safety issue. =$$ no other dealerships would look at it because it was what seemed an electrical issue, I had to take it to Nissan dealership to diagnose this problem. I was quoted $950 for it to get fixed. Upon doing research I realized this same part was recalled on the 2009s. I also found many other complaints about this same issue and how Nissan was not taking care of their customers. I took my issue to Nissan corporate to get it resolved but they said at this time they could not take responsibility for it because there were "revisions" done to this part. Power steering lock assembly is defective. Vehicle happened to be stationary at the time, locks the car from starting using the start button, car wont even turn over, dealer states part must be replaced. This exact same problem was addressed by a ntsb recall for 2009 - 2010 altimas and one other model but not the cube krom

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Nissan cube. The contact stated the steering wheel seized while the vehicle was in the off position preventing, the vehicle from starting. The contact mentioned that the anti theft system was activated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the ignition lock assembly needed to be replaced. The failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.

Horn is not loud enough to warn other drivers of presence. It is barely audible. Resulted in damage to my vehicle that may have been avoided with a louder horn. *kb

I reported this when the car was still under warranty. All the door lock actuators will not work, would not open would not lock. Sometimes it would be one or two doors and sometimes it would be all of them. Very unsafe, someone can get in the car at any time, you could be thrown out in a accident. And from what I read online this has been a problem that's been going a long time. It reeds to be on a recall list. *tr

I saw that in phoenix az the safety recall began on september 13,2010 for fuel system, gasoline;storage. Reported an saftey complaint on july 16th, 2020 11:45 pm phoenix az. Electirocal stability control started on june 10th 2020 didn't think much of it car cut off at an red light I turned my hazard lights on put the car in park and started the car up again. This happened again on july 15th 2020 took it in to the dealer( auto action 1827 w broadway rd) I pay a car note with told them what happened they said they needed to run it to see what was going on and would not present and spare car for the inconvenience or had any car fax on hand. July 16th 2020 I noticed that oil was indeed leaking from the bottom of the car.

In 2013, my airbag light went off all of a sudden after a few miles of driving and it was red until recently when the mechanic manually turn it off.

Airbags indicator light will come on and off periodically while driving had it to dealership several times and was told this is what it does and it just needs reset. Since I purchase my Nissan cube on cool mornings(under 60) the passenger air bag will be off when a 110 pound person is in the seat. After less than 5 miles of driving the air bag will turn on. The local Nissan dealer has had the car in 3-4 time and as there is no code in the computer they say they are not able to fix the problem. As most accidents happen close to home this could be a big problem. *tr

After a few years or few thousand miles, the CVT transmission may partially fail and it may not be indicated properly in the dashboard. This results in vehicle not getting enough power to drive. So, vehicle may stall in the roads or highways causing safety issues to both vehicle occupants and others in the road/highways. Stopping and restarting may not solve the issue. It could move the vehicle a bit farther but it may be at a very slower speed than the posted limits. The vehicle may produce a unique sound at times. The indication "service engine soon" comes a few days later and it is possible that the user of the car may not fully realize the condition.

The transmission started whining and next day the car did not move. It stopped moving when I needed to cross the intersection of darrow st and gardiner ave in silver spring ave. Exposing my kids and others passers by.

The contact stated this impairs her vision while driving and could cause a crash. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer regarding the windshield. The dealer stated the sparkle effect was due to tree sap. The contact stated the window is pitted. The contact also stated the windshield was pitted. The contact stated the manufacturer will not replaced the windshield for a unknown reason. The contact stated this is a manufacturer defect and the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs. Water leaks into rear end of my car. It has been repaired twice and continues to leak hard rain, car washing, snow, ice, case leaking. Results are dampness, mold, odor. Contacted Nissan corp. Once I found other owners complaining about same problem with same vehicle. I own two of these same cars and only one has this problem.

Muffler pipe detached into 2 pieces on welded part on the flange. *tr

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a cracked fuel tank filler neck. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Passenger side screw and lug nuts broke half off the tire. Causing a loud noise of the tire wobbling. Tire was pushed in and holding by one screw and lug nut. Now the driver side tire did the same thing. The first time this happened the vehicle was in motion same with the second incident.
