12/29/2021 Fire ODI #11445468.0

While driving my vehicle, it began to smoke under the hood. I exited the highway in order to pull over in a safer location. Some smoke started coming through the vent in the car as I pulled over. I exited the car and moved away and small flames began at the air vents on the outside. After I called 911, The fire kept building until the front half of the car was engulfed. The fire department came and put out the fire. They weren’t sure the exact cause, but believe it started in the engine. My car was up to date on inspection and was not yet due for an oil change. No dashboard service lights were on beforehand. I had State Farm insurance and am not sure yet if they were able to find anything from their investigation.

The 2010 rav4 rolls backwards while in drive. I first noticed this while stopped a red light in traffic. I took my foot off the brake and the car proceeded to roll backwards and did not stop until I applied brake pressure. I've also experienced this while stopped to remove my mail from my mail box and the car rolled backwards into the roadway while in drive. It happened again when I was in my driveway the car while in drive rolls backwards, freely, with no sign of stopping until I apply brake pressure. This is extremely dangerous and unexpected when it happens. My Toyota dealership claims this is normal for this car. Frankly, I don't feel safe in the car. Thankfully, no one has been injured when this happens. I'm not sure if the failed component is the drive train, the transmission or the

In the past 4 years the charcoal canister and purge valve has gone bad. Why does the have to be replaced so often? I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to replace this every four years, then I bought this vehicle good faith.

I have taken my 1 month certified newly purchased vehicle for what I describe as brakes/suspension problems. According to the dealership, they cannot find any problems with the car. I have already stated that I drive with my grandkids in the car. They seem to ignore and find nothing wrong with the vehicle. I feel there is definitely a safety issue! *tr

I was involved in an accident when my rav4 pulled to over the right side of the road causing the vehicle to strike a tree causing 7 broken ribs and it totaled my car .I saw a recall that was issued in september that the rear tire rods can cause you to lose control causing a crash recently and I know that was the reason for this crash I drive this road frequently and have never had an issue until august 11th my both arms were injured and my chest and shoulder had scrapes and cuts to which I blame on the manufacturer, I am still recovering from my injury and also believe the airbag didn't deploy in time because out of the 7 broken ribs my sternum bone was broken from the steering wheel!!

Date: 12/19/2010 from: [xxx] re: 2010 Toyota rav 4 lease/ air bag safety concern I recently leased a rav4 from your dealership. I traded a 2007 pruis and have owned numerous toyotas. My reason for leasing the rav 4 was to make life easier and safer for my spouse who is undergoing cancer treatment. I made this fact known to my salesman sonny rothwell and brought her with me to test her getting in and out of the vehicle and general comfort. The vehicle was not running during this test. I drove the vehicle approximately 5000 miles without paying attention to the dash warning light regarding air bag activation. When I finally checked with your service department, they stated that the air bag light indicates that the air bag is not in active mode when off and that this occurs when there

My driver side sun visor hangs down about 1.5 inch from the ceiling all the time. It does not stay up close to the top at all and it blocks my view. It is hard to see the traffic light with it hanging down so I have to hold it up with one hand while driving. I hit my head on it a couple of times while getting into the car. I called Toyota and they told me that there is no recall on sun visors for rav 4. I will have to get it fixed from the dealer who charges approx. $150. I came across multiple complaints about the same problem from rav4 and camry owners. This is a very serious issue and it can cause accidents and head injuries. Toyota had a recall on visors for camry and not for rav4. I am deeply disappointed that Toyota is not taking any action on this issue.

I couldn't find another place to send this info. This is not a complaint. Regarding the wiper, we had an interim recall, we went to the dealer, they fixed it, but the record you have says incomplete. I just wanted you to know that it has been fixed.it was fixed before we even had the final recall notice.

At approximately 18:30 on december 27, 2011, I experienced an unintended acceleration event in my 2010 Toyota rav4. I was stopping for a red light on pacific coast highway in seal beach, california at the corner of first street when I noticed it was difficult to apply the brake, and the car did not appear to want to stop. I applied the brake more forcefully and was eventually able to stop in the left hand turn lane, however the car kept lurching forward as if it wanted to break free of the brake. Having heard the widespread publicity regarding the unintended acceleration problem in Toyota vehicles, and having previously experienced the problem on one occasion over a year earlier, I thought this might be the issue. I put the car into park and the engine immediately revved up to an alarm
