Engine oil is burning by passing through and going out the exhaust.
Twice in one year the timing chain guides broke causing motor damage and the car to stall while driving on a major highway almost causing a major accident both times.
The engine oil has been burning excessively having to put oil in it a week after oil change the engine now has died
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet equinox. While driving various speeds, the check engine indicator illuminated. The failure was intermittent. Friendly Chevrolet in springfield, illinois was made aware of the failure and stated that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.
Gm 2.4 ecotec engine plugged pcv valve. Valve was found by dealer as being frozen shut causing the crankcase to pressurize and blow out the read crank shaft seal costing $1817 to repair. This is not an unknown problem for gm. Other makes and models of a several year span with the ecotec 2.4 have a service bulletin 14882 to cover total cost of repairs for this exact same problem. Gm is refusing to cover this engine because it wasn't part of the "special recall" issued march 2015. It has become apparent the recall needs to be expanded to cover all the ecotec 2.4 engines. Had this vehicle been on a highway or heavy traffic the engine would have blown or seized due to lack of oil. This ecotec engine has had many problems resulting in recalls. Timing chains prematurely wearing out to piston
2011 equinox has excessive oil consumption and is getting worse. This vehicle has a recall that is vague which is to say it is a popular issue with no direct resolution.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet equinox. Upon purchasing the vehicle, the contact stated that it burned excessive oil without warning. The contact received an unknown recall notice regarding the oil consumption and took the vehicle to joe holland Chevrolet & imports (210 maccorkle ave sw, south charleston, wv 25303). The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired per the recall by the previous owner. Due to the oil failure, the head gasket blew out in the engine. The independent dealer that sold the contact the vehicle agreed to replace the engine for $3,000. After the engine was replaced, the failure continued without warning. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Car shuts off on its own, I recently took it to get it diagnosed and didn't show anything was wrong with the vehicle. No engine light is on, nothing seems out of the ordinary, just that its starting to shut off on its own out of no where and looses power. I will be at a stop light and I would accelerate but as I accelerate the car shuts off. Also, its happed on the freeway during traffic times, when its heavy in traffic and requires me to stop for a while and then accelerate it either looses power or shuts off.

Was driving about an hr check engine light came on reduced engine power came across screen could not get the car to drive even with gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor ran test code came up throttle body had to disconnect and reconnect battery to make of work again. Cleaned throttle body found that the exhaust manifold broke in half and melted one 02 censor. Never had problem again til 12/27/14 again the reduced power and check engine light came on once again it was the throttle body. *tr
My 2011 Chevy equinox 4 cylinder shifts horribly between 2nd and 3rd. If you accelerate to approx. 20 MPH and remove your foot from the gas the transmission hesitates and then it shifts to 3rd gear with a jolt that would make you think you were hit from behind. When it down shifts from 3rd to 2nd it is like an anchor was thrown out the back. Returned it to a Chevy dealer who was able to duplicate it but said that it was normal and that all equinox do it. They had their district manager check on it and he said that Chevy designed it to do that and there is nothing wrong. It is going back again tomorrow to a different dealer but I expect to here the same story. When imports are designing constant velocity transmissions that you can't even feel shift, why would gm design theirs to jolt you ou
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and an abnormal clicking noise was heard. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to 1ownercar (410 w oak ln, glenolden, pa 19036, (610) 915-3417) where it was diagnosed that the battery was dead. The contact mentioned that the alternator, starter, and battery were replaced, but the failure recurred and could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The VIN was not provided. The failure mileage was 97,000.
Pcv system freezes causing the low power mode (limp mode) and check engine light to come on. Its a known issue, and gm covered it on a few cars. Next time I may be in heavy traffic.

Wiper module transmission assembly failed during rain storm. I was driving on a 70 mile an hour highway at the time. Driver's wiper blade went off the windshield to the left and would not move after that.
Driving while it was raining windshield wipers were going all of a sudden they went way past where they normally stop and couldn't see the road tried turning them off and on nothing happened had to hang my head out the window to find a place to pull over to safety because it was at night time and couldn't see if anything was coming or if I was going to run off in a ditch and had my little girl in the back seat to make matters worse but once I got out looked at them was able to move them by hand back into position but still wouldn't work you could hear the motor moving inside but wipers wouldn't at all im thank ful when this happened I wasn't on the interstate and was only going like 40 MPH with it raining but wipes never gave a sign previously anything was wrong they have always worked fi
steering 2 complaints shown
The steering wheel will "stick" when traveling in a straight line. When you go to make a slight correction, it will take extra effort to move the wheel due to this "sticking". This is the third time I have taken it to the dealer. The first time was corrected by replacing the steering gear. Second time was to replace the replacement steering gear due to a code error. It is now back into the dealer due to the same sticking again. This happens usually happens at higher highway speeds, but it happened at a lower speed (35 MPH) during a snow storm and caused my vehicle to slide slightly sideways. No accident occurred, but I believe it is just a matter of time. *tr
I was driving the car and the traction/stabilizer control turned on with the engine light and a message stated slowing down. Then the truck stayed at 20mph, I was kinda on the highway and almost hit someone. The engine sound good. Other people online have the same issue. Why is it not a recall. *tr
cruise control 1 complaint shown
This should clearly be a recall based on all the poste everyone is having the same issue. All my lights come on stabilitrack, ABS, check engine, steering fluid. I barely have any power, and my speed sensor no longer reads at all. Also my oil burns extremely fast. Link to forum where everyone is having the same issue.
