There currently is a recall on certain 2011 Kia sportages with the engine bearings prematurely wearing and causing the engine to seize. I have a 2011 sportage that is showing signs of this. Twice, my sportage has just shut down while my son was driving it. Luckily,he was able to coast off the side of the road and wait for help. There is no indicator that the engine is going to shut off. After taking it to my mechanic, and him looking into the problem, he told me that this looks like the recall problem that Kia has on these vehicles. Unfortunately, after looking into this myself, the recall does not include my VIN number, so, I was told by my Kia service manager that Kia might not be able to do anything. I purchased this car from a private seller here in Brooks last [XXX] named “Hein Teresa Lorraine” lives in [XXX], Brooks AB T1R 0R7" and she did not include all the details in her car that it has a recall issue with the engine which is the Knock Sensor Problem. After a couple of days of using it I experience engine malfunction, the oil pressure light is keeps on flickering and as I drove from Brooks going to Calgary the engine suddenly stalled and activates the “Lymp Mode”. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine had blown. The vehicle was towed to blaise alexander Kia (2501 lycoming creek rd, williamsport, pa) where it was diagnosed that the engine seized due to a faulty motor rod. The vehicle was not repaired. 2011 Kia sportage at times won't start but all lights and radio and electrical stuff work. Had new battery put in and checked out it is not battery. It is doing this more and more and I have to let it set for long periods of time then it will start. It can't be boosted off either when this happens. It started and has never stopped.please help.

Was driving in cruze crontrol stepped on the gas and vehicle died. I pushed the start button nothing but a warning sign on dash screen that would go blank before I could see what it said. I lifted the hood and check the battery cables they were on tight got back in the truck push the button nothing smelled wires burning seen smoke top of my motors on fire. I was heading north on I-5 near the dupont exit.

We own the car, 2011 Kia sportage sx t-gdi, for less than 3 months and I had to take it to the dealership pretty much every other week with some issues. Last problem we had was an accelerator/speed control when the car wasn't shifting or accelerating over 25-30 MPH even the RPM were up to 6-7x1000, and I was able to floor the pedal and keep it there, was no speed response. The only fix was pull over and shut off the engine, but even after that it could take several times to do the same procedure.I finally got an appointment to the dealership on tuesday morning 11nov14, pick it up thursday afternoon 13nov14, they said I had a bad battery that might cause the problem. So I end up paying for a new battery and replacing it, and at the same time the dealers replaced a brake lamp switch, and I w
