I began experiencing a loss of motion while driving this vehicle. On two separate occasions, while on the road and moving the vehicle lost ability to move. At one point I was limited to unsafe driving speeds of less than 15 miles per hour. All occurrences of loss of motion occurred on city streets where posted speed limits were 45 MPH or less. The last occurrence was in my driveway when the vehicle would not start. I had to have the vehicle towed for service at which time it was determined the transmission was in need of replacement. At 60,000 miles the transmission on this vehicle was at full failure and full replacement was necessary. All recommended maintenance was completed on this vehicle and it was not used for towing purposes.
After the transmission has warmed up, if I come to a stop, the car will not accelerate for the first 15 sec regardless of how hard I push the accelerator or number of times I push on the accelerator. When it does finally go, I take off way too fast-likely due to laying on the accelerator wanting my car to go. This problems is dangerous. I have had it happen at stop signs, city lights, and highway exit ramps.
My CVT transmission began to have a seal leak at 140,000 miles causing a loud squeal while the transmission fluid built up pressure. This car was well maintained. It's unfortunate that Nissan doesn't provide replacement parts for their transmissions. It's a sealed unit so you have to replace the entire transmission for $3500 to $4800. Only got $2k on trade in for a new vehicle. I hope Nissan recalls the transmission so others won't lose money on this costly repair.
Coincidentally we just paid off our vehicle a few months ago. Our 2011 Nissan murano has 103, 000 miles. About a month ago my wife mentioned that the car was hesitating when pressing the gas pedal to proceed forward from a stopped position. ( this is definitely a safety hazard at intersections and any stopped positions to proceed forward). The engine would just cut out and then after a few seconds would pick back up in rpms. I thought it was a fuel filter problem so we sent it to our mechanic. He came back to us and said its the CVT transmission and it could cost anywhere from $3500 - $5000. Something we did not want hear with a vehicle with just a hundred thousand miles on it. After further research we see this has been a known issue with Nissan CVT. I really need some assist
Only 62,000 miles and needs a new transmission. Car would not go over 20mph.
brakes 5 complaints shown
Vehicle is in motion on a city street. When braking over a bump, brake pedal drops to the floor, vehicle does not stop. Brake malfunction - unsafe condition.it happened twice in a month. Independent shop stated to replace anti-lock brake's hydraulic control unit. Nissan will not sell the part. Brought to Nissan dealer to check and stated it is normal. Nissan found everything operating normally and charged $ 210.00 for the inspection.
My car is working perfectly fine and with oil change at Nissan dealer (30 days back), I found no issues. Today, while driving at 30-35 MPH, the brakes pedal went all the way to the floor and car did not stop easily on the turn. I was almost going to hit another car but survived. There was no pressure in the break pedal at all. The same thing happened year or so ago but did not report the issue thinking this might be due to break pad etc. But it happened again and now I don't even want to take out car on the road. I called Nissan north america after reading same issues on internet and their response was plain - "there is no recall on this vehicle" and you have to check with dealer and fix at your own cost. My question is - if there are so many complaints on the same issue and have recall wi
The ABS actuator has been under recall by Nissan for certain models. After contacting Nissan customer service they have determined due to the mileage of the vehicle this safety defect is not covered under the recall.
Took murano to mechanic because was having problems with braking, mechanic had brake serviced and made new. Now car is not wanting to stop even when pumpin brakes. Took back and was told by mechanic at shamrock that I need new ABS hydrolic break system
Without warning brke pedal began to fade. No leaks, no warning lights noted. Dealer quotes parts at $1995 and labor of $400 plus to repair in conjunction with pads and turned rotors total $3,200. Note - this corresponds to issues with the 2009 and 2015-2017 recalled muranos for the samed ussues est milaege 90k
airbags 3 complaints shown
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Nissan murano. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated and caused the front passenger seat classification system to fail. When the passenger seat was occupied, the air bag system would deactivate. The dealer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 68,202.
Update to previous NHTSA complaint #11078866. The cost to repair my car was over$5000 and could not justify the expense. After living with the faulty sensor for almost 2 years, it's time to replace the vehicle. I hoped for a recall to be issued but nothing yet. To trade in or sell this vehicle, it's obvious due to warning light on dash that there is a problem with airbags. I need to discount my vehicle value or repair this. After some inquiry, I've discovered that my part is now replaced by part number 873a2-3zg6a. This part is the replacement for model years 2011-2014 in all trim levels s, sv, sl, le. It is the entire passenger bottom seat and costs $3700 or more plus labor=over $5000 to fix. Even if I could afford to fix this issue, there are no parts available in the usa according to su
The passenger airbag warning light illuminated and remains on. A Nissan dealer diagnosed the issue as a failure of the Occupant Classification System sensor in the passenger seat. This causes the airbag system to be disabled and could prevent deployment in a crash. I was informed that my 2011 Murano is not included in Nissan’s previous airbag/OCS recalls (such as 16V244), even thought the symptoms appear identical. Repair requires replacement or reprogramming of the seat/OCS components and is very expensive ($2000-$7000). This is a critical safety issue because the passenger airbag may not function at all. Based on similar complaints from other 2011 Murano owners, this my represent a widespread defect that warrants investigation and a recall. Safety needs to be a priority. We were

Less than 100,000 miles on the car, 4 engine mounts are cracked, never off road, used for commuting and travel on highways. On chat board for murano owners, found several other instances of cracked motor mounts, happening as early as approximately 30,000 miles. Not sure of date occurring but told at oil change service Nissan of bakersfield about engine mount problem, I think on 12/22/15. *js

Twice in the last few weeks, when turning off the ignition, the lights when on, the headlights started blinking. And the entire electrical shutdown, not allowing me to change gears out of park, not turn on a light, nothing. Car had to be jump started. So dangerous, when kids are in the car, and I couldn't move it out of harm's way. See uploaded document for details.no way to put in neutral to move. Husband couldn't get out of car. Started going 70-60 MPH on freeway and car suddenly stopped accelerating causing me to move quickly to the other side of the freeway. I think it may be the alternator, not sure yet

While I was driving down the road at about 45 MPH no other vehicles around me and no overpass or trees above me , my sunroof exploded (it sounded like a gunshot went off) and then I heard a crackling noise which as soon as I pulled over I found it had exploded upwards and shattered. I have pictures to show the sunroof exploded upwards. *tr

Our vehicle has been in 2 accidents - one where we were struck in the rear left bumper and the other we were struck in the front left bumper. Speeds were about 20 MPH. Neither resulted in the airbags being deployed. We have experienced many issues with the electrical system including failure of the radio/climate control screen, speaker volume changing without initiation and unable to be controlled, & rear speakers not functioning. These occurred at all times of vehicle operation.

The vehicle loses power at random times. I had my mechanic take a look at it who said it was my alternator. So, I brought a brand-new alternator and had him put it on and within 2 days it did it again. So, I took it back to my mechanic who said it was the alternator and the battery. So again, I brought another alternator and now a battery. 3 days later it lost power after taking my children to school, now no one knows what is going on and why it keeps losing power.
