The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started jerking and became inoperable. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had been diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty transmission. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

Acceleration from a full stop is unreliable. The issue is most prominent when going up a slight incline and will continue until the vehicle is able to level off, when acceleration resumes to normal response. Even on level road surfaces, the acceleration is inconsistent once accelerator is pressed. This has been a consistent issue for well over a year.

The vehicle was stalling multiple times on the freeway on my way to work this morning (9/25/19) and there is a sudden thump on the engine as it was trying to accelerate and would stall again after a few yards. So I decided to pullover safely and started the vehicle again until I reached my destination but with emergency lights on. This is absolutely a safety issue as it increases the risk of a crash or being hit from behind, with the vehicle stalling. This is the 2nd Nissan quest I owned and it is having the same problem. The 1st one had issues at 50,000+ miles. The manufacture should look into this safety issue.

When at a stop, or a very slow speed (less than 2 or 3 MPH), and then attempting to accelerate, the car does not respond right away. There is a 2 or 3 second delay then the car jerks forward and accelerates. The dealership has changed the transmission twice, but issue not resolved. When dropping vehicle off to dealer, the dealer shuttle van, which is also a Nissan quest, was exhibiting the same issue, which I felt and the driver also acknowledged.

My 2011 Nissan quest is having issues with the transmission. On two separate trips this summer my quest has seemingly been incapable of down shifting to gain power during passing or climbs. This only happens during several hours of extended driving time but during normal around town driving it operates without incident. I have now had my quest serviced at two separate dealers, one in florida and the other in ohio, both found nothing at all wrong. Incident one occurred in late june 2016 while in the appalachian's during both the destination and return trip (return trip after a dealer transmission service). The vehicle would not travel faster than 50-60 MPH while climbing even with the acceleration pedal completely pressed. No engine lights come on and the engine temperature was normal. Dri

Van became sluggish when coming to the busy intersection. When I tried to accelerate when light changed, engine light came on and van would not go over 5mph. I was almost hit. Codes were run by a mechanic. Four internal transmission codes are present. Was told that the Quest has a transmission known for these problems. We could've been killed from the vehicle not moving with traffic.

Our 2011 Nissan quest is having issues with the transmission. At high rates of speed, such as on the freeway, especially when the car has been running for awhile, the transmission begins to make a ringing type sound when accelerating. It also struggles to downshift properly, taking several seconds to engage in the downshift for more power and then jerking roughly. It has left us vulnerable to a situation in which we could crash by not being able to get out of the way of another vehicle quickly. According to our mechanic at our service station, this is an ongoing issue with Nissan's gearless transmission system and has been recalled on several other Nissan vehicle models.

First incident: vehicle's low fuel warning light came on and computer indicated 55 miles to empty. Approximately 8 miles later, while idling in a parking lot on a subtle downhill slope, the engine stalled. Pushing start button caused an attempt to crank, but engine wouldn't start. Accessory power still worked. We put 1 1/2 gallons of gas in the van and it still would not start (just cranked and sputtered out again). The van was towed to a Nissan dealer and once off the tow truck, it started up without problems and indicated 74 miles to empty. Dealer ran diagnostics and said nothing was wrong, and they believed it ran out of gas but stated computer and fuel gauge we're accurate. Second incident: 12/16/11, low fuel light came on at 52 miles to empty. Before I could reach the closest ga

There have been 3 instances where our van has stalled sitting on an incline with a quarter or so of gas left. There is an open recall for the 2011 quest but mine doesn't fall under the same manufacture date range. After researching, I found that this seems to be a wide spread problem with the quest over several years not just 2011. I took it to the dealer to have them research and they said they have never heard of that before. They suggested purchasing a fuel sending unit to fix the problem. If it was just a problem with the gauge then why would the car stall on a hill with plenty of gas left? I am worried about what will happen if I am actually traveling down a hill at speed and my car stalls.

We have had to replace our battery several times since purchasing our vehicle. In 2018 alone we purchased 3 batteries then the final straw is that there is an "h" slit in the dash yet the car has never been in any accidents. Which during our financing time period was never a concerned to the dealer. Now that the car is paid off, these 2 specific habitual problems have significantly affected the price of our vehicle. Upon researching the vehicle it seems our van may be part of the software recall but I am also thinking that the crankshaft may be a huge factor also.

My 2011 Nissan quest, while driving my van the gas peddle doesn't seem to respond at times. I was almost hit on the highway driving st 65 on a 70 MPH, stepping on the gas the peddle would not respond and the speed started to decline. While driving trying to make a left turn stepping on the gas the van wouldn't respond.

3.5 l motor has unusually high oil consumption and pinging was noticed years ago when vehicle was brought in for recall and notified service advisers but they paid no attention to it saying nothing could be found. There is no oil pressure gauge to alert driver of low oil pressure. Check engine icon comes on but doesn't alert driver as to what the problem is. Vehicle in question was taken in for oil change months ago and was told there was very little oil but there were no warnings detected and there are no known oil leaks. Checked oil level when the check engine icon came on again and topped off oil level to safe amount and the next day it came back on again with no warning signs of a very unsafe oil level(oil was not present on the dipstick). Mileage for vehicle is around 70k+. Once again

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Nissan quest. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH on a decline with tank of fuel or less, there was an insufficient supply of fuel going to the engine which caused the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road where it was restarted in order to reset the system. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who decided to replace the fuel tank and reprogrammed the fuel tank control module. The failure recurred. The vehicle was repaired under recall NHTSA campaign id number: 12v076000(electrical system: software ). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who sent out a representative to inspect the failure. The failure mileage was 1,898 and the current mileage was 11,500.

The contact used the keyfob to deactivate the horn however, after approximately 15 minutes, the failure recurred. The contact disconnected the battery terminals to disable the horn function. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver's front tire experienced a blowout. The tire blowout caused the hood latch cable to detach. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop for the replacement of the tire. The vehicle was later taken to bayou Nissan (13050 I-10 service rd, new orleans, la 70128), and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The pressure sensor in the front passenger seat has failed. The seat belt warning is always illuminated when no passenger is in the seat and the airbag disable light never turns off even with a full-size adult. This seems to be a common issue in nissans, including a recall on 2013-2016 model years of other models but never the quest.
