Vehicle has a extended warrantee on the power brake booster that Ford is unwilling to repair due to a previous replacement of the part in 2017. Brake boosters are out of stock and unavailable, due to volume of repairs. Both power brake boosters failed approximately 5 years from install. The brake issues created a very unsafe incident that almost caused an accident.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The contact stated that as she depressed the brake pedal two more times the brake pedal went to the floorboard but responded. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for repair under the Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 13N02; however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at her own expense because the VIN was not included in the Customer Satisfaction Program. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and ad
Brake booster failed with no prior warning. Sitting at stop light, brake pedal went to the floor and car lundged forward into intersection. Luckily we were not hit. Contacted Ford dealer and they informed me it is "very" common failure and it was covered under extended warranty negotiated by Ford to prevent a recall? I see Ford who won that negotiation.. It is nice that this won't cost me any money but it has or will surely cost someone their life(s). Unbelievable that the dealer, NHTSA and Ford know about this problem and no notice is sent to tens of thousands of families driving kids around in death traps? If that is the best you can negotiate at NHTSA, given a choice I'd rather have been notified of the issue rather than have Ford pay for the repair. At least families cou
Brakes failed to engage, pedal was hard, pedal had to be pumped to get brakes to engage, dealer visited dec 23 2015, diagnosis power break booster failure, called dec 28 2015 to return for service, dealer claimed car fine to drive and left dealership with car on the 23rd?
I have had to replace the brake booster in my car twice now. I have an hour commute to work and the last time, the brakes failed coming home from work. Luckily I was about 10 miles from home but I fail to understand why that part has failed twice now. Had I been in heavy traffic, it could have been deadly for myself and others.
There is a partial recall on these model Ford edge's. Where the brake booster and brake master cylinder are defective and cause the brakes to fill with air and lose partial and sometimes total loss of braking power. This happened to my 2012 Ford edge sport. I bought new factory parts and had them installed by a professional. They went out again. It had to do with he factory of the parts. Please place a mass recall on this part. My wife and kids shouldn't get into a wreck due to brakes going out again. They already have totally gone out twice. The 2nd time my wife with daughter and my son in the car couldnt slow down in time and got into a fender bender. It wasn't serious. This time. Thank you. Also, another problem that has been noted by thousands of Ford edge owners is the style of
The brakes randomly become soft and the pedal goes almost to the floor before bringing the car to a complete stop. A recall for this same problem was put out on 12/23/2019 for 2006-10 Ford fusion, mercury milan, Lincoln mkz. The 2012 edge should be included as a quick internet search shows I am not the only one with this issue. When you are driving 55-70 MPH and the brakes randomly go soft it is a huge safety issue. This is not a constant occurrence, and it is hard for my mechanic to reproduce. It happens in all driving conditions, parking, highway, in town, when on/off the brakes or just hitting them to slow down on a highway. I have used my emergency brake to stop from hitting a car in front of me on a highway once, and my husband hit a bush when parking because of this. I reached

About a year ago, the driver door ajar light came on and will not go out. This has caused the battery to drain multiple times due to interior lights staying on all the time. Every time the vehicle comes to a stop, the "shift to park" warning comes on along with the door chime. Ford claims it was not under warranty and quoted ~$400 to replace (~$250 if it could be "repaired"). A few weeks ago, the rear passenger side ajar light came on and will not go out. Due to this, we can no longer lock the rear door while driving. This is the location of our child's seat! Also, we no longer can tell if the doors are properly closed or not. *tr
Even though the driver's side door is properly closed, the door ajar indicator light will all of a sudden come on and then the interior lights will also come one which is very hazardous if you are driving at night. Also when this happens you cannot lock the doors which makes it not safe for children or adults with disabilities whom may be a passenger in the car as well. Sometimes you have to slam the door about 15 times before it stops or it might not stop at all.
Typical "door is ajar" error message. Upon closing the door, the error message "door is ajar" pops up and the dome lights stay on with the chimes ringing. I also have a problem with the error message "shift to park". I believe these could be related. Ford dealer replaced the switch assembly but this didn't solve my problem. This needs recalled as thousands are experiencing this saftey issue with this vehicle!
2012 Ford edge with 51,000 miles. Driver door ajar warning keeps coming on when door is not ajar both when vehicle is moving or not moving. I can open and close the door several times and sometimes it will go off sometimes it won't. It will even come on 20-40 minutes after I've been driving at times when door has not been reopened and closed. It even came on after the passenger door was opened and closed, driver door ajar not passenger door ajar. Whenever I stop, the shift to park warning also comes on wanting me to shut my door so I have two warnings beeping at me. Interior lights will not go off until I start moving forward so I can't see behind me backing out of driveways and stalls at night which is scary. I have gotten to where I just ignore the warnings as many people do with th
Door ajar stays on when door is fully closed.
Driver side door ajar light comes on. Can be driving down the road and interior light come on due to door ajar issue. Door will not lock while car is moving due to issue making this a safety issue. *tr

Car starts to idle rough primarily while approaching/sitting at stop lights though has happened while in motion. It starts to shake before low engine oil pressure light and/or service engine light comes on. Car then "freezes" as can't steer, can't go forward or reverse and can't shift into another gear. Car turns off and may restart without any issue or may struggle to turn back on after many tries (10) with normal function. Online search indicates this is a common problem for this year, make & model with problem being attributed to one of the following: bad oil pressure sensor and/or valve, bad oil sending unit, bad bearings, water pump issue resulting in antifreeze backup, faulty tachometer or bad battery junction box
The drivers door closing sensor does not operate properly. Without the door being closed the lights stay on and many other electronics do not work properly if the door is registered as open. This includes draining the battery because I can't get the lights shut off when I am not driving the car. In feb 2015, I was told that it needed to be cleaned, so the dealer charged me $250 to tear apart the door to clean the sensor. Just 10 months later it started to happen again.
Brakes fail to engage, brake pedal is hard, need to pump pedal several times to get the brakes to engage, dealer checked problem on dec 23 2015, diagnosis power brake booster failing, dealer claims car is fine to drive, will call when part is in to schedule service, called on dec 28 2015 to schedule service

Ford edge left rear door latch failing. The latch sensor randomly faults and it's unclear if the door is properly latched or not. The alarm will sound randomly as the sensor fails while the car is locked. This could cause a situation where the door is not properly closed but the sensor says it is. Passengers in the car could be ejected. Latch faults when stationary or in motion.
Drivers door will not lock, icon on dash says "drivers door adjar"' when the vehicle is in motion. When stopped, even momentarily the "shift to park" logo appears, and a chime sounds. Unable to lock the vehicle when parked as the factory alarm starts sounding depending on the outside temperature.

The power steering cuts in and out in the middle of driving due to faulty power steering lines! Nearly had an accident making a turn into a parking spot as the steering went out completely and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. *js

Made 4 mile trip from home to church on christmas eve 2013 and upon arrival at church there was a profound smell of gasoline around the front of the vehicle which also permeated the passenger cabin. Contacted the dealer the day after christmas to alert then of the incident. The response was that they had performed an inspection on 05 feb 2013 and found no problem and that there was no outstanding recall. I have a printed copy of the recall notice from Ford dated 27 september 2013 and the information is also on the idriveonline.com website specifically associated with my vehicle. *tr
