On october 26, 2018, I was stopped at a red light waiting to make a right hand turn. When the light turned green and I proceeded to make my turn, my wheel was tight and locked into one position. It was extremely difficult to straighten it out. I drove about one mile before I could safely turn it into a parking lot. I had to use all my strength to turn it and straighten it out. I sat in the car for about 15 minutes while making some phone calls to family members about my situation. At one point, I turned the car off. I waited 5 minutes and turned it back on and it was working. Very scary situation. I drove it to my mechanic who said it was a steering shaft torque sensor malfunction b2278 code 100.427. Since my mechanic cleared the code, 3 separate Ford dealers refused to look at it without

I was driving in a 45-mph zone and was preparing to make a right turn and as I slowed down and made the turn, the wheel locked up with no warning light or other indication there was a power steering issue, and I nearly struck a car approaching the stop sign on the street that I was turning onto. I was able to drive my car to my destination that was right up the street. I turned off my car and turned it back on and the power steering was working again.

The contact stated she restarted the vehicle and was able to continue driving. The contact stated that she experienced the failure once a month since 9/1/2021. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The power steering suddenly and unexpectedly failed, forcing the wheel to turn all the way to the left. Fortunately, the problem first occurred while the vehicle was stopped and trying to exit a parking lot. It took a lot of force to re-center the wheel and drive straight. After releasing the wheel, even when parked, the wheel would rapidly rotate back to the left most position. If this happened while driving to an expecting victim, the vehicle would have certainly turned into oncoming traffic and/or flipped.
My son was driving my 2012 Escape. While entering the Highway the steering became very stiff while making a left had turn. It felt like there was no power steering. the vehicle is at 135,970 miles. I was able to drive it to my parents and take another vehicle to work. Upon returning to the vehicle that evening the and starting it up, the steering had returned to normal. I looked online and saw that this is a common occurrence with the 2012 Escapes and that there was a recall for this for he 2011 Escapes.
At random points in time when car is on, doesnt matter what speed, steering wheel locks and is unable to be moved untill car is turned off and back on again. I just got into an accident yesterday in brattleboro vt while I was driving home for xmas from college when I went right off the side of the road and into a snowbank. Airbags went off and nobody was hurt and luckly I didnt hit any other cars or property. Car is being towed back home to a mechanic. I had gone to a Ford dealership a few weeks ago when I first noticed the issue, in my driveway at low speeds, and after paying a $100 diagnosis fee, the dealership told me there was nothing wrong with the car and that I was imagining things. I've done a lot of research since then and there are a lot of recalls with similar issues but no
On several occassions over the past few weeks, while driving, my steering goes out but the car is still powered. It has happened while in motion but slowing down to make right hand turns. This has happened on local city streets. I am afraid to drive it on the highway due to higher speeds and the danger of crash at higher speeds. It becomes impossible to turn the wheel. Once vehicle is turned off and started again, the power returns. The cause for this is unknown, except it sounds like the same issue as the steering recalls for the 2008-2011 Ford escape models previously.

I was driving the car, came to a stop sign, stopped and proceeded to press gas and turn into lane. The car jumped forward and almost stalled. It did not stop running however it would only move approx 1 MPH. Just enough to pull of road and park. When I restarted, the engine was shaking. When in low gear, the car would jump forward and stop, jump forward and stop. In drive, it would only go 1 MPH.I took car to Ford and they said it was the throttle body position sensor and that it wasn't covered under the drive train/power train warranty and would cost me $520. *tr
After slowing down in heavy traffic I felt a jolt or thrust forward. When I looked at the dashboard I noticed the wrench light was lit. I tried to give the car gas and it went no where. I was fortunate to be able to pull over to the shoulder and look up the light in the owner's manual. It said it was a power train/throttle body fault. After waiting 15 minutes for a tow truck I tried restarting the car and it started normally. The car drove normally the rest of the day. I brought it into the Ford dealership where it was purchased the next morning. They eventually told me the throttle body had failed/shorted out and needed to be replaced which wouldn't be covered under the warranty because I was 700 miles over. After filing a case with Ford and doing research, I noticed several others having

Going to work early (6:35am) monday morning, driving around 35-40mph, when all of a suddenly I hear a big boom and the sound of something being splatter and hitting the back of my head. The next thing I know I feel a big gust of cold air in the car and when I look through my rear view mirror, I see that my rear lift gate window had just exploded. All this happen when I was driving. The back seat and the back of the SUV were covered with hundreds of pieces of glass. The two hydraulic bars that control the opening of the door along with the rear window wiper assembly were just hanging there. Needless to say it scared me to death. It was just a blessing that it wasn't raining nor snowing. I took it to my dealership and was told that Ford is not responsible for the replacement and that I

Intermittent vehicle stalls, which is typically more common as well as surges when entering traffic from a stopped position or while driving at highway speeds. Also, while driving at a constant speed (between 15 and 25 MPH) the car will slow down even though I have not lifted my foot up from the gas pedal. This has been going on ever since I bought the car in january of 2012, regardless of the weather or the season. I have gone to two different dealers and they claim nothing is wrong with the car. Other people have driven my car and have complained about the stalls and surges while driving the car. Thank you your help would be appreciated. *tr
When driving (approx 30 MPH), my vehicle suddenly lost acceleration. I coasted into a parking lot. Turned off vehicle and waited a moment. I then attempted to turn the vehicle back on and it started. I was able to drive to my local Ford dealer for repair. Today, nearly 3 months to the date later, I had the same problem. I was stopped at a light and was unable to accelerate when the light changed. Turning the vehicle off and turning it back on allowed me to get home. *tr
