When driving under any road conditions and at speeds from 15 to 65, the car seems to track to the left or right of center but does not want to track straight ahead. When trying to turn the wheel to correct this, there is a lot of resistance, which forces the driver to over-correct and at times nearly lose control. At times the wheel also tries to turn on its own (quick slight jerks to the left or right) and can be very difficult to maintain complete control. This is especially bad under icy conditions and could easily send the car into a spin. I have had the wheel aligned and tires checked and no mechanical issues have been found. I also took the car to a dealer for this issue and even though I made it clear this happens on dry roads, the claim they could not reproduce the issue and s

The car has a failing steering coupler just as other models of Hyundai have and they claim the problem is known but nothing can be done to to no recall. It is no different than other models that were recalled.
I own a 2012 Hyundai veloster twd. My sunroof just exploded out of no-where and I called Hyundai and they told me that there is no recall on this issue. In addition, I need to replace a steering bushing and it is not covered in any recall and I am reading on the internet that this item has been repaired. Great car, but no accountability by this organization to fix their engineers issues.
- The steering feels sticky and has "play" when trying to stay centered on the road. It is most notable on straight freeways at higher speeds (60 - 75 MPH). - The safety issue is driver control and risk to driver, riders and other vehicle/drivers. The steering needs constant attention and adjustment. - The dealer confirmed its existing the first time and Hyundai eventually repaired it in 2019. The issue returned in 2021 and 2022 and the dealer confirmed it again on December 13, 2022, but Hyundai warranty declined to repair. - No other action has been initiated to review the issue with my call. A simple google search and visiting Hyundai owner forum websites show that many drivers/owners experience similar issues and do not know that it's a much larger issue or potential flaw in the steer

Driving at 70mph southbound on I-5 near albany or the sunroof suddenly imploded, showering the inside of the car with glass. The sunroof was closed as were all of the windows and the shade was open. Despite the traffic I was able to pull over to the side of the road and my passenger and I could shake out the pieces of glass from our hair and clothes. Apart from some small cuts there were no serious injuries. The entire inside of the car is covered in bits of broken glass- thankfully we didn't have anyone in the back seats. Upon having the service department at the dealer inspect the roof, I was told to contact my insurance company and see if I have coverage for the glass. When the sunroof recall came out last year I brought my vehicle in immediately and was told that it was okay, so t
On september 16th 2012, approximately 4 months after purchasing the vehicle, I was driving east on I-90 at about 70 MPH when my sunroof exploded. There were no vehicles in my immediate vicinity and no foreign object made contact or entered my vehicle. The sunroof was closed when this happened and I was not trying to operate it at the time of the incident. It sounded like a water balloon popped and then glass came raining down on top of my head and into my car. There were no passengers in the vehicle other than the driver and there were no injuries. *tr
The Hyundai veloster 2012 had a recall a few years ago concerning the sudden explosion of the panoramic sunroof. I took in my vehicle immediately to be checked out and was told the sunroof was fine. While driving the vehicle at about 65/70 miles per hour on the highway during rush hour, an extremely loud bang occurred. I immediately associated the loud bang as a gun shot. Glass from the ceiling fell into the vehicle and on my body as the sunroof cover ripped open. I was so startled, that I ducked trying to protect myself as glass was falling onto me while driving. I was able to turn on my hazards and pull over on the side of the road. Although, I did not speak to any witnesses, I am certain the semi-truck driving beside me saw what occurred as he turned on his hazards and slowed down to le
There is an issue with this vehicle's panoramic sunroof and lift-gate windows spontaneously exploding while traveling. These incidents occur within 3 weeks of each other. The first incident occurred on Nov 28th with my liftgate glass shattering on its own while traveling with my dog on the interstate. I was maintaining a speed of 70 mph and just made a lane change. It was just an unexpected loud crunch sound, and while checking the rearview mirror; I noticed my window was shattered. I pulled over to check my vehicle, and no point of contact would have indicated something smashed into it. I had to safely leave the interstate to return home with this unstable glass that was falling apart into my vehicle. There was absolutely nothing that cause that glass to shatter, it just exploded on its o

I got a routine oil change at an old change place and then needed another one 2 1/2 weeks later. The employees at the shop informed me that my vehicle was burning through the oil extremely fast and that the oil dipstick was bare when they checked the oil level. They checked for leaks and found none. The very next day I started hearing a clicking noise coming from the engine and the check engine light was on. I took the vehicle to Autozone in order to run diagnostics on the vehicle to find the problem. The employee there said it was the knock sensor informing us that something is wrong with the engine. I then took the vehicle to a mechanic to see if the problem could be alleviated. The mechanic informed me that there was nothing he could do because of the manufacturing defects of this speci
I was driving up to the mountains yesterday and my car began to make a knocking noise, my check engine light began to flash, the car turned off, and we had to basically let the car coast to an exit. Firestone said that my spark plugs 1,2,3 failed and my engine is knocking aggressively (code P1326).

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while parking the vehicle, the contact engaged the parking brake, but the vehicle attempted to roll while parked on an incline. While driving on I-85 near Atlanta, GA on 12/16/2022 at approximately 5:30 pm the sunroof exploded. The sunroof cover was closed so there was not an injury due to the shattering glass.
Our teen daughter drives a 2012 Veloster that has an OPEN recall that Hyundai has no solution or fix for. Today, her car started to have a burning smell inside the vehicle that is linked to this issue. Hyundai needs to fix this NOW or buy this car back from us immediately. This is recall 23V651000. I need a car that works and is not a safety hazard!

Vehicle would not start. Smart junction box was found to be faulty due to a short in the wiring harness. In addition to the wiring harness needing to be repaired, the battery needed to be replaced. Was not covered under the warranty or extended warranty.
I contacted Hyundai motor of america to try to come to a resolution with an ongoing issue with veloster vehicles. Back in 2015, I had to have my HVAC fan speed controller replaced due to it intermittently working. The controller was replaced in march of 2015 under manufacturer warranty. Now in december of 2016, the fan speed control started to show the same symptoms as before. Then one evening it stopped woking all together. Now, I am out of warranty by mileage, current vehicle mileage is 91000. I ended up taking apart the dash to inspect the failed part and found it to be melted/burnt. Once I found this, a couple days prior to total failure, I smelled and distinct plastic burning smell and I put it off as a vehicle that was in my close vicinity. But upon inspection, I found that it had in

Tl* the contact owned a 2012 Hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the contact attempted to merge into a lane and crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained bleeding on the fingers and the forehead, which did not require medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the crash. The failure mileage was 110,600.

Left rear disk brake caliper parking brake mechanism stuck in actuated position with no braking action. Same problem as existing recall, fits date window, but Hyundai did not include this VIN in the recall. Discovered problem on 17dec2019.

The rear door (there's only one) on the passenger side will no longer open either from the outside or the inside. There appears to be many complaints of this on the veloster online forum. I noticed this when I was attempting to open it when a passenger was going to sit there. They had to climb in and out of the rear hatch. This would definitely be a safety issue in an emergency.

Rolled backwards while parked in my driveway twice and vehicle was found out in the road by my neighbors. I was driving it a week ago and my RPM's were tacking really high but could not accelerate speed and I was in 6th gear and it was telling me to shift to 6th then 5th back and forth. Had it checked out at dealership and they said my clutch had abnormal wear and tear but wasn't covered under warranty. They did not check the parking break to see if it was what caused the malfunction of the clutch. The clutch never gave me any problems it was just the car lagged when trying to accelerate speed.
