The contact owns a 2012 Infiniti FX35. The contact stated that on several occasions, while the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
I was driving through an intersection at about 15/20 miles an hour as the light had just turned green & my car just shut down out of no where all the lights were on on the dash, and the car rolled to a stop. This engine uses a metal timing chain inside the engine. Infinit chose to use plastic guides and tensors to keep the chain in place and not wear stretch. This choice of PLASTIC results in the eventual failure of the components that are needed to keep the chain in place. First signs of impending failure is a rattle inside the engine.
