2012 Nissan Altima owner complaints

2012 Nissan altima sl 115,425 miles and transmission dead.

While driving, or wanting to drive after coming to a stop, the engine rpms will increase when the accelerator is pressed (up to red line), but the car transmission does not respond until, suddenly, the car lunges forward. This can happen from a cold start, at a traffic light, after a quick stop at a business while the vehicle is still warm, etc.

While driving, either with the cruise control or without, the engine rpms will quickly bounce between high rpms and low rpms though the speed of the vehicle does not change at all. The engine is revving faster, but the transmission does not appear to be engaged. This happens frequently.

CVT transmission was built poorly, the transmission is slowly destroying itself causing a loss of power, high pitched whining noise and eventually fail. The date I selected for when it happened is the date I noticed the issue on my vehicle.

No forver gear or reverse gear at all .and have alot of code 720 1723 1778 0868 0715 1722 0746 0826 1701

Transmission spudders at times. It is very delayed when pulling out sometimes. Turning the car off and back on might help sometimes. Car will go in limp mode. Nissan dealer said it was the Transmission. There is a big safety concern because when you push the gas trying to cross an intersection, it might lag behind and not go. This could result in being hit. This has been a great car but the cat is complete junk and Nissan should be ashamed of themselves for this. If they get enough law suits they may change something. Well maybe, They don't care about peoples lives.

I was driving my 2012 Nissan altima on a busy 4 lane road. I was in the turning lane when my car refused to accelerate. I had power and the engine revved when I pushed on the pedal, but the car would not move. I put the car in park, shut it off and restarted it. The car then jerked its way through the intersection. A few hundred more yards and it stopped again in the middle of the road. I restarted multiple times but it would not move. I had it towed to my mechanic and I was told it was a failed CVT transmission. I called Nissan america to see if they would help, and they said tow it to a Nissan dealership and they would review it and see if they would help. I contacted Nissan and they said my CVT transmission failed and that it was out of warranty. It will cost over $4000 to replace

My vehicle is only 8 years old and recently the airbag light began to flash on the dashboard , which is the sign of a problem with the vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealership (elk grove Nissan, california) and paid to figure out the problem. After performing the diagnostics, I was told that the airbag system was faulty and that it would cost me $1500 to repair. My question to them was: " why should I pay for the repair if the airbag is faulty?" I also said that if the airbag is faulty, it should be recalled. They informed me that there was nothing they could do because there was no recall on my vehicle. I have since checked the service and maintenance guide for my vehicle and there is nowhere in the booklet that states that the airbag is a maintenance item for the owner. The airba

The 'airbag off' light for the passenger seat turns on randomly, regardless of who is in the seat (140+ pounds). The car was purchased off lease last year from east coast auto mall, 340 sylvan ave, englewood cliffs, nj 07632. We called them and asked about if the airbag would deploy if the light was on, even though there was an adult in the seat, this was their response: "well no.. But you're supposed to be wearing a seat belt." last Nissan I'll buy, after owning 4 consecutively. *tr

I noticed my passenger airbag "off" indicator was illuminated and my dashboard warning light was blinking. No one was in the passenger seat at the time. I took my car in for service at the dealership and they found an error code b1018 ocs. This problem did not have an active recall. The dealership replaced the passenger side seat cushion assembly and tested the airbag system. I contacted Nissan customer care and received a case number. The agent called the dealership to get additional information about the error. The dealership felt that Nissan may cover the costs of the defect. The customer care specialist said there was nothing they could do since my car was out of warranty and was not part of a recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 Nissan altima. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH, she was trying to turn the radio on but accidentally turned the engine off because the radio and push-to-start buttons were abnormally close in proximity. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 18,000.

I was at a red light and the car just shut down. I had to turn the car off and restart it! This is the second time this has happened. The first time about a year ago. I thought I had done something to make it happen the first the first time. Now I know it is the car. This is serious and scary! From reading the complaints I see this has happened to others and while they were driving! *tr

The back doors of these cars are taking in water when it rains or when you go to car wash.. As you drive you could hear the water sloshing in the doors. You have to actually open the door and use your hands by picking the rubber at the bottom of the doors to let the water out. Then it gushes out like an open faucet.

The hood latch is defective and the hood can not close properly.

The sensor was replaced but the light engine light still came back on now the speed sensor is causing the issue. The abs light comes on while accelerating it jumps and jerks

Cvt transmission jerking, can’t accelerate. The vehicle has been inspected by multiple mechanics my vehicle stopped accelerating in the highway while everyone was going 80 mph mine dropped to 60 causing almost a collision also my car had turned off because of the jerking was so bad there is no check engine light on at all

Traveling down a four lane road going 55 MPH. It was around 10 a.m., sunny and dry. There was no debris on the road. I heard a loud "pop" which came from behind the passenger seat and in front of back tire. We looked for debris on the road, saw none. Car was running fine. Continued 10 - 15 more miles to home of father-in-law. Stepped out of car and smelled strong gas fumes. Proceeded around back of car to passenger side. Observed a puddle of gasoline in front of rear passenger tire. Slow, steady drip was coming from bottom of car above puddle. Car was towed to Nissan dealer in lexington, ky. They reported the fuel tank was punctured. *tr

The dash on my 2012 altima has begun to melt. The dash initially started out being tacky when my son was away at college in nc, which I thought was unusual. Upon returning to fl this past summer, it got worse. Now the dash is giving off a chemical smell with a horrible glare. The glare from the windshield is making for unsafe driving conditions, especially in the fl sun. Nissan acknowledged the melting dash issue in 2008 2009 models and agreed to replace those dashes for vehicles in fl under a lawsuit settled in 2017. Looking at the complaints on the NHTSA website, it appears that the melting dash issue has continued to be a problem past the 2008 2009 model years.

Car goes to the right. .will not respond when trying to bring back. Then to much. Like out of alignment. Going to replace steering column. Going to fix ordered part. Dec 8 2014. *tr
