There have been numerous recalls for my 2013 Audi s6 pertaining to the turbocharged engine. Most recently, over the last 2 weeks I noticed decreasing gas mileage and increasing turbo lag but the car still ran "normally" overall. Then, 1 day ago it made intermittent metallic sounds at startup but then still ran normally. Then, the next day the car had the same startup sounds but then had a rough idle at stoplights. I stopped for gas and the car wouldnt restart at the gas station. It was towed to Audi where the car was diagnosed with catastrophic failure of both turbochargers and quoted approximately $10,000 to fix. Being a 2013 Audi s6 model with 60,000 miles on it, it is outside of Audi's 48 month/50,000 mile warranty. This is known issue for 2013-2016 Audi sedan owners, particularl

Vehicle has had all recommended maintenance performed on schedule at the Audi dealer. Driving down a highway at about 73k miles, engine stopped running with no warning. Electronic systems appeared as though engine was running, but it was dead. We were extremely fortunate that this happened on a rural highway and not the big city freeway system we had recently driven through. Cause of the problem was a total engine failure, later discovered to be failure of the turbocharging system. Checking online reveals that it likely due to a defect in an oil strainer. Sudden catastrophic engine failure at only 73K miles in a dealer-maintained vehicle is a safety hazard, to the occupants of the vehicle as well as to surrounding cars that have to navigate around a suddenly powerless car.

Turbocharged failed while driving in afternoon traffic, leaving car stranded at heavy traffic stoplight until tow could be arranged. Failure occurred while idling at the stop light. Failed turbochargers are available for inspection. Failure was initially diagnosed / confirmed by dealership (Audi Chantilly) but due to extreme cost of repair quoted by dealer, car was transported to an independent garage for the repair. Failed turbocharger was inspected at dealership using micro-camera for diagnosis of the problem. There were no warnings, check engine lights, strange noises, loss of power, etc..; failure was total and instantaneous. Additional information: This is a totally stock vehicle, no modifications or tuning performed. It has never been raced or abused. The 'launch mode' b

While driving in city traffic, the car went into limp mode with some new lights on the dashboard. Before I could get to a safe place, it completely died and almost caused an accident. I was stuck until I had help pushing the car off the road. Upon reading the OBDII computer codes and then confirming with a professional mechanic, both turbos had blown. There was little warning, and no time to have a safe option once the warning light came on. Upon reading up on this platform, Audi has a defective oil screen that gets clogged and oil starves the turbos which makes them fail prematurely. Hopefully, they will fix this issue moving forward.

My turbochargers failed, which I understand is not uncommon with this engine. It was driving normally. I stopped for an errand and it restarted with great difficulty. I then drove some additional distance and it stalled in traffic. It stalled repeatedly whenever the RPM's fell below 2000. I ended up running a red light, to avoid slowing down, knowing it would stall. Fortunately, I was in an uncrowded area. It looks like Audi has already issued a technical service bulletin regarding the propensity for turbo failure. I would like to see more than that happen.

Vehicle was in motion when it started shaking roughly. The car stalled and wouldn't turn back on. I had it towed home and was able to diagnose seized turbo compressors. Replaced the turbos which fixed the problem but at an enormous cost.

The contact owns a 2013 Audi S6. The contact stated upon test driving the vehicle after an oil change, the independent mechanic diagnosed that the oil strainer was clogged and the turbine wheel was desegregated. The oil strainer and gasket, the PCV head gasket, and two turbochargers were replaced. Additionally, three consecutive oil changes were completed in order to flush the metal fragments from the turbocharger oil strainer. The vehicle was repaired. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V178000 (Engine And Engine Cooling) which he associated with the failure. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact submitted a claim for reimbursement as the vehicle had been repaired prior to the safety recall bu

The turbos on the car both broke at the intermediate shaft before 75,000 miles. The car was cruising on the freeway, and the moment I slowed down to take the exit, the car lost power and shut down. I had to make an emergency stop on the side of the exit with little to no room to pull over.

I was driving at approx 65mph on the highway when all of a sudden I lost significant engine power in my vehicle. I tried to accelerate and could not so I pulled over and the car immediately stalled and I had to have it towed to the repair shop. The issue is a result of the turbos in my vehicle are damaged. Mechanic said there is a known issue related to a screen that filters the oil that can get clogged overtime and cause oil starvation to the turbos increasing heat and ultimately causing failure. Audi has released a tsb for this fault with updated parts however these issues continue to plague vehicles like mine that have otherwise been taken care of. The repair costs for this could be upwards of $9k all because of a design flaw. Not to mention this could be dangerous if loss of powe

Engine experience a sudden loss of power while driving on the highway at highway speeds. This was very scary as I was with my family. I pulled over and engine completely cutoff and failed to turn over. Had to get car towed over 50miles to the Audi dealer where they diagnosed the problem as blown turbos caused by a clogged oil screen which is buried deep in the engine not easily accessible and found out Audi has revised this part a few times car only had 42675k miles and was maintained through there maintenance program.

2013 s6 with 64k miles suffered turbo failure while driving. The engine stalled while driving and stopped in the roadway. Numerous restarts were attempted before it finally restarted and allowed for a short drive to get off the roadway. This is not an isolated incident and there are numerous similar failures with the Audi 4.0t engine. Audi is aware of these failures and has issued tsbs that identify the turbo oil supply line filter as the culprit but they have not issued a recall. Had this failure happened on a highway at speed it would have been very dangerous.

I noticed my car wouldn’t engage in reverse when shifted so I took it in for a transmission flush and it was performed and 2 days later I got a light on dash saying transmission overheating . And the car completely lost power while on freeway and went from 60 to 20 miles per hour and will not shift past first gear . So I took it back in to dealer paid diagnostic fee and then was told my transmission was bad and had to be replaced and was quoted a price of 15683$

Transmission coolant valve failure. Audi has issued tsb for several models related to same failure mode. Coolant sprays from coolant valve onto electrical connectors internal to transmission causing corrosion within the connectors. Two fault modes. 1. Vehicle fails to start as vehicle doesn't know transmission condition (neutral, park or otherwise). 2. If you can get it to start - vehicle is in limp mode service 2wks to replace failed valve and repair corroded electrical connectors within transmission

I put my car in reverse gear and then pressed slightly on the gas pedal. The car didn't move. I checked my hand brake and regular brake. Both were disengaged. So I pressed a little more and more. The engine began to growl like crazy and the car refused to even move. Then all of a sudden the car just launched itself. I nearly hit another car. It was very scary. I switched the car off and then tried again. This time no trouble. Similar thing happened when I was exiting a parking lot. Fired my car up, put my car in "d". Pressed on the gas pedal. Car wouldn't move. Pressed more and more, nothing !! The engine was growling like crazy all this while. Then suddenly the car launches itself like crazy. I almost hit another car coming from the opposite direction. Again, when I shut down the car a

I am having a major safety issue with my car and it seems like Audi of america (aoa) does not seem to really care. It all started in aug 2015 and a bunch of fault codes came one. The second time, I believe, was jan 2016 and I was driving on I-95 and suddenly about 5 fault codes showed up while I was driving. I was traveling about 70mph in the middle lane. The car's steering stiffened up and I could not accelerate. Luckily no one was next to me and I was able to pull off to the shoulder. This could have been a major catastrophe if I was not able to pull over with the amount of traffic there is on I-95 including lots of semi-trucks. I turned the car off and turned it on and I slowly drove home. I also drive this car with my newborn in it everyday. I called my local dealership and flat bedded
