The contact stated he received an unknown recall letter for the chassis, where it was completed at local dealer antwerpen Toyota (12420 auto dr, clarksville, md 21029: (410) 531-5700). The contact stated shortly after the recall repair was performed, while driving over a speed bump he heard an abnormal sound. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact called and notified the local dealer of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

When accelerating through 20 MPH a vibration/shudder is very noticeable. The more aggressive the acceleration the more noticeable the vibration. The vibration is also noted when decelerating from full speed. When in a coasting or braking deceleration a vibration is noted around 20 MPH. When accelerating or decelerating the vibration is transient at 20 MPH and always dampens out or goes away. Without even bothering for a test drive my Toyota dealer attributed the vibration to "mud build up on the brake caliper". I shared a Toyota service bulletin quoted by other tacoma owners but the dealer said the bulletin was no longer effective. *tr

When accelerating after a stop there is a hesitation or stall. This happened with our 2010 tacoma, also. We traded for a 2013 and this truck does the same thing. Dealership says the transmission is searching for a gear. It is a safety issue because when you pull out in front of oncoming traffic the hesitation could cause enough of a delay to cause an accident. This happens after a complete stop and also after a slow down. *tr

I am professional fire investigator assigned to investigating the origin and cause of a fire involving the subject vehicle identified. The evidence revealed to date supports that the cause of the fire was the result of the failure identified in NHTSA campaign number: 13v557000. My concern involves the consequence section listed in the campaign. Specifically the consequences section does not include that if left unaddressed, a failure of the valve springs may result in the fire event. A complete origin and cause written report has been generated of the efforts conducted and analysis to date. I've been provided permission by our client share all information generated to date with NHTSA representatives. However, because it is considered a private investigation I'm concerned about attaching

The steering in my tacoma has suddenly become stiff. It began 3 days ago and has gotten worse. The truck is handling poorly. The steering feels tight at all speeds. I have not solved the problem as yet but have been lubricating the universal joint at the bottom of the steering shaft. It feel similar to the same problem I had with my 2005 tacoma. The steering shaft universal joint should be designed as a sealed unit and ability to grease it.

When braking between 45-65 MPH, I can feel a strong shimmy and shaking in the steering wheel. I have to let off the brakes or it feels like something is going to break in the drive train, steering column, or wheels are going to fall off. Its very scary and dangerous, especially when you might not be able to stop the vehicle. I've asked the Toyota dealer to check it once and they didn't do anything to fix the problem. This is particularly unsafe when driving 95 or the turnpike, and you have to brake hard at times. *tr

The horn started malfunctioning recently at around 200k miles, sometimes working sometimes not (regardless of steering wheel positioning). As prior complaints have stated; the suspect was likely the clockspring, but all the steering wheel controls were functioning with no issues and no warning lights illuminated. Also, I've continously found myself in the 3rd gear multiple times after very lighy taps (mainly from a drink falling/bumping into it) as the cupholders in the front are very small and/or not stable for anything other than small disposable containers.

11/15/2023 ODI #11555348.0

Within 1 month of buying a 2012 and 2013 tacoma the clockspring goes out. This repair is incredibly expensive and has happened with every single Tacoma I have ever bought. Toyota needs to do something about this, this is unnaceptable that my horn/clockspring goes out almost immidiately.

On date of service I was informed by advisor [xxx] that all 24 wheel fasteners (lugs) holding on the wheel studs did not have ample threads. I was escorted to service area of my vehicle and saw what he was describing to me. It was the wrong lugs nuts installed. There was no enough ample threads to tighten the lugs to the wheel studs 1-3 threads definitely not to vehicle specification to maintain the tires on for safe driving, it could have cause the tires rip off and apart. My life was in there hands and Toyota could care less about my safety and safety of others had the wheels come off. Photo's was taken by me and the wrong lug nuts was offered back to me. The truck was purchase at lugoff Toyota in south carolina on 08/23/13 the first service was done at dick dyer Toyota in sc on 05/07/

The power brake booster failed while driving with my [XXX] and [XXX] old. Fortunately I was in a school zone with no traffic. This particular part is known to fail with Toyota's (recalled on a few models). The vehicle is 13 so Toyota will not back their product. The dealer charged $3,000.00 for the repair. There were no warnings this was going to happen. The vehicle was bought brand new, and always well maintained. ALL work besides oil changes/new tires was completed at the dealership. My 2013 Toyota tacoma 4 cylinder truck, while in motion, intermittently accelerates, without warning, for a few brief seconds then correct it self. This acceleration happens without the driver initiating the acceleration by pressing on the accelerator. This has been happening for about 1-1/2 years. For approximately the past 4 months (july - nov 2016) the engine revs up to higher revolutions, immediately after engaging the ignition, while still in park. It's as if I was deliberately pressing on the accelerator immediately after starting the engine, while it was still in the park position. In fact I had not pressed on the accelerator. When I had it checked out, I was told that's the way toyotas start. It was after the truck began to bolt/accelerate at a high speed after going

Massive squeaking noise coming from the drivers side front suspension. Took it to the dealership and the replaced the upper a-arm and a corroded bolt that's in an area that water can't get into. Noise went away for a month and now has returned. In the same area. After getting some information from a suspension mechanic they are aware of an ongoing issue with the tacoma front suspensions and a possible fix from Toyota that that replaces the front coils and struts bur I have not heard anything from Toyota about it. All previous work on my vehicle done by dealership.
