Customer experienced sluggish performance and failed starts along with computer error code P0456. Independent mechanic found open recall for canister purge valve associated with error code. Two different ford dealerships in Massachusetts indicated that the vin number associated with the recall was not covered. As a result, Ford failed to honor recall notice for canister purge valve. A year later, Ford mailed a notice to owners regarding this recall. Consumer called ford and was instructed to apply for a refund under the recall by visiting the very dealerships that denied recall services previously. This represents a failure by ford motor company to effectively comply and address a federally mandated recall causing consumers to pay for repairs and then request a refund.

The vehicle is having hard jerking/shuttering due to a clutch malfunction during first and second gear. For a while I've had the same jerking (sometimes very bad) that everyone else has had due to a clutch malfunction. I received a letter for the recall from Ford and when I went to have the clutch fixed the dealership called to inform me that I was not eligible due to having a branded title. The dealership looked up my VIN number when I was making an appointment and proceeded to tell me after I dropped my car off and they had it for the whole day.the reason my car is a branded title is due to cosmetic damage, nothing to do with the front of the car. All of the parts on the car are the original manufactured parts. This being said, I'm having a concern that even though the clutch is the e

Traction control is a hazard, when you need power to the wheels and the traction control engages you have zero power. While going up a slight incline with snow on the surface the wheels spun briefly and engaged the traction control, lost all power to the front wheels and had to back down. Talking with the dealer they said it is normal, not safe, but normal. Now, you can turn the tc off but requires multiple steps with programming switch in the steering wheel, plus, every time you turn vehicle off it resets tc to on. There needs to an easy access switch to turn tc off while driving or at the very least, Ford needs to reprogram the vehicles so when you turn tc off, it stays off until you turn back on. Loosing power in traffic on a hill could be very dangerous and at the best causes you to ba

At around 24,000 miles our 2014 focus transmission starting shuttering during take-off, most notably between 1st and 2nd gear. It is unpredictable and sometimes dangerously hesitant to get going. You had better hope the day you really need the car to move it does; but not surge unexpectedly. The most frustrating point is Ford says it's normal. Normal! I have driven cars with automatic and manual transmissions for over 35 years never, has this been normal!!! *tr

Jerks at start, heavy shudders 10 t0 20, RPM peaks suddenly; but car doesn't accelerate (RPM drops down quickly and car accelerates) while cruising around 40 to 45 car shudders as if clutch is slipping when trying to accelerate lightly; but during this time the car doesn't accelerate. Tried modifying driving by changing easing accelerator when it seems to shift/ when RPM drops for a shift - doesn't help. Dealer has reprogrammed and then subsequently changed the clutch assembly and seals. Didn't help and caused the problems at higher speeds. Will take back to dealer to see what else can be done

The horn stopped working approx. December 17, 2019. Vehicle has about 155500 miles. Horn does not sound when vehicle is locked using key fob. Horn does not sound when center of steering wheel is pressed. One traffic incident already required the horn's use and it was not available. I verified myself that the fuse works and also that the relay works. I also accessed the horn itself and tapped it which made no difference. The horn is an important safety feature although used infrequently. It is not subject to wear and tear as a wiper blade would be.

Car shudders on acceleration from a stop and jerks and lunges upon acceleration from a slowdown. Transmission slips gears and also hits a dead spot causing a lack of acceleration around gear 2-3. RPM's rev up with no acceleration and then drops quickly with a hesitation before a reduction of speed. Car can lunge when pressing accelerator when you don't want it to go that hard and the opposite happens on highway merges when you need the car to go and it won't due to the transmission bottoming out. Problems get worse the longer and farther you drive the car. Had at the dealer 3 times now, reprogrammed clutch last time but say the issues found are "normal" and that Ford made the transmission to do just as the problems state to make the car feel more like a manual than an automatic. This car I

The car shudders upon acceleration from a stop; changing gears more like a manual transmission than the automatic transmission that it is. Also, the car began shaking and shuddering during right hand turns. So far, this is an intermittent problem. The acceleration from slow speeds and from a stop is dangerously slow and nearly unresponsive at times. *js

On my way home, the car began to make a clickety clackety noise. It sounded like a belt was out of alignment. I pulled into the driveway and popped the hood. I watched the bottom gear wheel break off the engine. The engine immediately stopped. Had I been on the road, it could have been tragic. In the attached photo, you can see the metal ripped clean off at all three locations.

While accelerating in traffic yesterday evening a warning appeared on the display panel "stop safely now". I was unable to exit the roadway immediately due to traffic and the vehicle would not accelerate while approaching a traffic light. The engine operating indicator (a green car with arrows pointing forward and back) was no longer on but accessories on the car worked properly (e.g. Headlights, power steering, etc) I put the car in park and attempted to turn off the car with the brake pedal engaged in an attempt to restart but car would not turn off. I was able to eventually push the car off of the roadway into a parking lot. The car's ignition turned off once I was back in the vehicle and the door closed. I powered the car on after it had fully shut down and it returned to operating

Traction control issue.... During snowstorm , trying to drive up a hill with a left hand turn , tires lost traction and car electronically reduced RPM speed... Loss of speed almost sent car sideways into ditch. Had to turn around and get run at hill 4 more times.... Each time when traction with tires was broken ...rpms were dropped to nothing leaving car stopped near stalling in middle of hill. Will be dealing with dealership soon.. I feel that the fix for this is going to be remove fuse for traction control.....or disable traction control system.. This car is a stick shift... I can see how another 120 reports on this page with auto transmissions, may be the same issue..... *tr
