While driving down hill the vehicle was revving up to almost 5rpms while breaking... Was not shifting into lower gear.. Pulled in to get gas.. Went to back up with reverse.. Then shifted gear into drive .. And the vehicle was still in reverse... Pushed the shifter to park and then back into driver and car was still driving in reserve...pushed back into park ... Switched seats with my husband ... He got into driver seat and the shifter was stuck in park.. But was not registering on dash board.. According to the dashboard it was in reverse ... Husband reversed the car into a parking spot .. He kept trying to pull the shifter to go into drive... But it was locked on park... So he manually went in to shift the gears and was able to move the shifter manually ... But it still was not recognizing

We were driving down the highway when the ford escape shut down and the the check engine light came on for the Evap system several parts have been replaced but I get the same code and the car is dying at idle and losing power a different times while driving
The transmission shift cable fell off the transmission shift lever in the engine compartment. The plastic bushing that holds the shift cable in place is worn out or defective. Ford has a replacement part (#DG9Z-7K340-A) and a new cover cap to protect the bushing now. Wondering why this is not a safety recall. The linkage fell off while my wife was parking the vehicle in sub-zero weather. She had the shifter in park, but the vehicle was actually in neutral or reverse. The vehicles engine could be started or stopped, would not drive, but could roll. Luckily it was on level ground when it happened. Ford has the same problem on earlier year models but not on our model year. The Ford dealer told me that there were no recalls or TSBs for my VIN model.
It first started while sitting at a light and the gears shifted on their own kind of felt like it just clicked into place. I continued to drive as no check engine light came on and it was feeling fine. I was driving down a hill at 45 MPH and then all of a sudden my rpms shot from a 2.5/3 to a 7rpm right back down to a 1rpm and this took me immediately down to 26mph this totally freaked me out as I have never had this issue and was on a busy road. I immediately pulled over and put my hazards on.... I was not in a safe spot so I decided to try to drive the car to a road off the main road when I did this the car was not even allowing me to accelerate. I sat there hoping no one hit me turned the car off and then it was drivable again. I had it towed to my house as covid mechanics were closed
Purchased a new 2015 escape have had it in the dealer multi times for turbo replacement and the heads replaced. Was smelling coolant in the car took it to the same dealer for repair. That was over 7 weeks ago. Fords will not approve the repair that was caused by the coolant leaking into the engine. I have a active powertrain and Ford esp warranty.
Transmission is not shifting correctly from reverse into drive. Also does not shift through the speeds and the RPM reaches 5000. Shifting is unpredictable and very glitchy. Dangerous in certain conditions because car does not accelerate properly. Reverse to forward direction is unpredictable. Worse in cold conditions. Car is dangerous to drive. Condition has worsened and now need a new transmission at 64,000 km.
Driving along just fine went pass another car on the road. While acelarating the made a sudden hard shift and then started to hessitate. The car did this down town phx 75 to 25 causing to cars behind me to crash into each other so yeah I have to say that would be a saftey issue. As it was doing this the car said transmission failure. So I had the car towed and when I got it home I hooked it up to my autel code reader bi directional scanner. There was a proplem with 1st gear not having the correct ratio and 6th gear invalid ratio. That is all it said.

Engine began giving white smoke from exhaust at start up. 2 Mechanics have checked it and said it’s a well Known coolant intrusion issue with these ford eco boost engines. High risk of overheating and engine failure (while driving, which is a major safety risk for my family).
The engine failed at 96,000 miles and we had it replaced with a new engine. Then at 131,000 miles the dealer stated that the engine has failed again and needs to be replaced because there is some delaminating happening in the engine. The 1.6L ecoboost engine is known for early failure. The new engine is only 3 months out of warranty and Ford will do nothing to assist in the engine replacement.
lack of coolant circulation resulting in the engine overheating. This has caused a possible crack in the cylinder head. Lost power while driving on the freeway. The system is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of my minor son was at risk. Warnings came on for overheating, check engine light, and safe mode put on while on the free way so could not accelerate.
First incident occurred when I stopped for gas. The car would not start after refueling. A few minutes later it started and ran with no problems. The second time I was entering a county highway at app. 35 MPH and the car stalled out. I was able to drift onto the shoulder and the car restarted a few minutes later and ran normally. The third time, approximately a week later, I was driving in the parking lot of a shopping mall at app 20 MPH. There was a loud, continuous noise from the rear of the vehicle which sounded like I was dragging an object. The car then stalled and would not start for a few minutes. It now runs normally but I have scheduled an appointment with capital Ford of wilmington, nc for 12/31/2019. Each time the stalling happened, it seemed as if the engine was not getting a
Coolant leak has been checked by mechanic to not be due to problems with any hoses or connections within the coolant system. Inspection is available upon request. The issue has caused the coolant level to drop below the minimum coolant level 4 times within 3 months with no warning or visible leaking occurring. This has been a regular occurrence with this vehicle for several months now.

During my last oil change, 12/23/2019, I was told the technician told he could not re-attach my "splash shield" due excessive rust where the shield fasteners are supposed to hold the shield in place. Approximately 10 screws cannot be re-installed due to rust. This shield if re-attached could have fallen off during operation causing unknown multiple issues including causing a crash. My problem occurred during an oil change, so I was stationary in the oil change shop.

Rear rotors had excessive rust after 5000 mies. Caused rear brakes to grind and make loud noise. Also caused a one time back up for rear brakes not to work. Ford dealership in dickson, tn did a great job of fixing the problem. Their service dept was excellent.

I have a flat tire. When going to change it, I found that the lug wrench would not fit the lug nuts on the wheels. I was told at the Ford dealer that the lug nuts swelled so the lug wtench would no longer fit the lugs preventing the tire from being removed. I feel this is a safety hazard since you can't change the tire. I was stuck on the side of a major highway for over 3 hours waiting for assistance and had to purchase new lug nuts for my car because they were chewed up getting them removed. They were also hard to tighten when putting on the spare tire.
