Is there a fix? Manufacturer service bulletins

The manufacturer has issued service bulletins covering electrical on this vehicle — documented repair instructions, service campaigns, or warranty extensions sent to dealers. A TSB isn't a recall (it's not a free safety remedy), but it's the manufacturer acknowledging the issue and how to fix it.

Service Bulletin SSM 54601 Feb 2026

Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with wired keyless entry keypad systems and accessory wireless keyless entry keypad systems may or may not come with a wallet card containing the master code. Unlike the integrated wired keypad, the accessory wireless keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool or from the label printed on the body control module (BCM). The Factory Keyless Entry Code application within the diagnostic scan tool will not provide an applicable master code for the accessory wireless keypad. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is not available, the "Wireless RF Keypad Diagnosis Guide" can be referenced and provides direction on how

Some 2013-2023 Ford or Lincoln vehicles with modems activated through FordPass or LincolnWay may experience 12 volt battery drain symptoms when the customer uses non-Ford/Lincoln phone applications as an alternate channel to access vehicle commands such as door lock/unlock, remote start, vehicle location, etc. The battery drain may be caused by excessive calls for data through the vehicle network keeping it in an activated state. Recommend that the customer uninstall the app to ensure this is not contributing to battery symptoms experienced. Advise the customer that unaffiliated third-party app developers do not work directly with Ford to adhere to security, vehicle communication, and privac

The failure pattern owners describe

Owners report multiple distinct electrical failures on 2015 Ford Transits. Water intrusion is a common thread: water leaks through the windshield into the air filter compartment and electrical compartment, causing oxygen sensor failures, mass air sensor contamination, and fuse failure. One owner notes Ford issued a TSB on the cabin air filter lacking proper weather sealing but wasn't covered under his warranty.

Control module failures create serious safety concerns. One owner reports headlights activating with the engine off and no key in the ignition; worse, reconnecting the battery causes the starter to crank the engine on its own. Another owner's engine continues running after turning the key off—battery disconnection is the only way to shut it down.

Power loss while driving is reported repeatedly. Some describe loss of throttle response mid-drive; one owner's throttle body was replaced at 117,444 miles but the problem recurred. Others report "Engine Fault Service Now" messages with complete power loss that restores after shutdown and restart. Multiple incidents occurred on a single fleet of four Transit vehicles. Dashboard failures also occur: one owner's gauges and lights went completely dark while driving at night due to Body Control Module failure.

One persistent case shows a cascade of failed diagnoses—GPS module, instrument cluster, PCM, and wiring—with failures recurring after each repair attempt. Another owner has a DPF filter fault message that won't clear even after replacing the filter and sensors with the system operating normally. Some owners note their VINs weren't included in related NHTSA campaigns despite the issues matching campaign descriptions.

Failure modes owners describe

Intermittent stalling and no-start with recurring electrical faults

Vehicle stalls while driving and cannot restart. Diagnosis has cycled through GPS module, instrument cluster, PCM, and wiring issues, with repeated failures after repair attempts.

When: 80,000 miles

Symptoms owners cite: Instrument cluster indicators flash; Vehicle chimes; Engine stalls; Unable to restart

Repairs/costs cited: Dealership has replaced GPS module, electrical cluster, PCM, and performed wiring repairs multiple times without resolution.

Recalls/TSBs owners mention: VIN not included in NHTSA Campaign 15V406000 (Electrical System). Manufacturer directed owner to continue work with dealer.

Water intrusion causing sensor and electrical failures

Water leaks through windshield into air filter compartment, wiring, and emissions components. Results in oxygen sensor failure, timing issues, and check engine light.

When: 70,000 miles

Symptoms owners cite: Water pooling in air filter box (~2 inches); Check engine light illuminated; Engine timing issues

Codes mentioned: Oxygen sensor fault codes

Repairs/costs cited: Catalytic converter replaced; windshield sealed by owner.

Recalls/TSBs owners mention: VIN not included in related recall.

Water intrusion into cabin air filter and mass air sensor

Cabin air filter lacks proper weather sealing; water enters filter and mass air sensor under normal use. Ford issued TSB and replacement parts available, but out-of-warranty repairs charged to owner.

When: Out of warranty (timing not specified)

Symptoms owners cite: Hesitation to start; No-start condition; Fuel or air delivery symptoms

Repairs/costs cited: $850 plus tax for repair out of warranty. Owner states engine seizure and crash risk possible if part failed at high speed.

Recalls/TSBs owners mention: Ford TSB issued; replacement parts available but not covered under warranty.

Water ingress into electrical compartment causing fuse failure

Water enters electrical compartment during rainy weather, causing fuse failure and inability to start. Failure recurred after repair during subsequent rain.

When: 77,000 miles

Symptoms owners cite: Engine fails to turn over during rain; Check engine light illuminated

Repairs/costs cited: Fuse replaced; recurring issue after repair.

Recalls/TSBs owners mention: VIN not included in NHTSA Campaign 18V275000 (Electrical System). Not under recall.

Control module malfunction with spontaneous electrical operation

Control module causes headlights to activate with engine off and key removed. When battery is reconnected, starter motor energizes spontaneously, cranking engine with no key in ignition. Issue is reproducible.

When: 81,700 miles

Symptoms owners cite: Headlights activate without ignition; Starter motor energizes without key in ignition; Engine starts without key

Sliding door alert false triggering

Sliding door alert activates continuously while driving, triggered by road conditions (dips, bumps, braking). Alert obscures other dashboard information and creates distraction.

Symptoms owners cite: Alert activates over road dips and bumps; Alert activates during braking; Alert remains on continuously while driving; Dashboard panel unreadable during alert

Loss of power and acceleration control while driving

Throttle body malfunction causes loss of acceleration and speed control while driving. Vehicle loses power and ability to decelerate; driver must coast to stop. Occurs repeatedly; throttle body replaced in 2021 but issue recurs. Reported on multiple 2015-2018 Transits in same fleet (4 vehicles, 6 total incidents).

When: After 117,444 miles (replacement); recurring thereafter

Symptoms owners cite: Acceleration shuts down; Loss of speed control while driving; Engine still running but no throttle response

Repairs/costs cited: Throttle body replaced at 117,444 miles; recurring after replacement.

"Engine Fault Service Now" with complete power loss

Engine fault message appears and vehicle loses all power mid-drive. Power and operation restore after engine shutdown and restart. Issue reported across multiple vehicles in fleet of Ford Transits.

Symptoms owners cite: "Engine Fault Service Now" message displayed; Complete loss of power; Vehicle regains power after restart

Body Control Module failure causing complete instrument loss

All dashboard gauges and lights cease functioning while driving at night. Owner diagnosed with bad Body Control Module. Owner notes issue is widespread among Ford Transit owners.

Symptoms owners cite: All dashboard gauges fail; Dashboard lights go out; Speedometer non-functional

Repairs/costs cited: Body Control Module failure diagnosed.

Engine continues running after key turned off; no safe shutdown

Engine continues running after key returned to OFF position. Only way to stop engine is to disconnect battery. Instrument readings are absent and tachometer reads zero. Module does not fail safely.

Symptoms owners cite: Engine runs with key in OFF position; No instrument readings; Tachometer reads zero; Engine cannot be shut down with key

Repairs/costs cited: Battery disconnection required to stop engine.

DPF filter fault message persists despite component replacement

Cluster displays 'DPF filter overloaded' message. DPF filter and sensors replaced 3 months prior; DPF system operates properly with no fault codes, but warning message remains on cluster.

Symptoms owners cite: DPF filter overloaded message on cluster; No active fault codes

Repairs/costs cited: DPF filter and sensors replaced 3 months before complaint; DPF system functioning properly.
