2015 GMC Sierra owner complaints

Rear sliding glass window defogger contacts are smoking and making sizzling noise. Fire hazard. Had to remove fuse number 10 from engine block to prevent auto start from engaging rear defogger in cold weather, or to prevent defogger switch from being engaged by family member. 46k miles 2015 GMC sierra

Rear defroster (with sliding rear window) thermal events with arcing and hissing, smoke smell present. Matches the same description as provided in document N192265660. GM will not cover my vehicle because it was not delivered to a dealer in any of the states listed in the document. There is evidence in the vehicle of thermal events, however GM wants me to pay $1000-$1500 for a new rear sliding window.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 GMC sierra 1500. The contact went to autostart the vehicle and noticed that the rear window was smoking and emitting a burning odor. The contact turned off the auto rear defroster and the rear window shattered. There were no injuries. The contact had the vehicle repaired by a glass company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall regarding the failure. Headlight on the 2015 GMC sierra 1500 slt are terrible. They are the worst of any vehicle I've driven. The problem stems from the poorly designed reflector for the halogen bulb.

Supposedly the brakes have been fixed for the recall, however, if I am driving as low speeds like in a parking lot, the ABS will kick in causing me to not come to a stop when needed. I have almost hit several vehicles due to this issue. I have issues with the radio working, specifically being able to adjust the sound level. I have issues with the mirrors being able to move like they should. Both of the electrical issues are permanent, it does not matter if I am parked or driving, they do not work at all. This is by far the worst vehicle I have ever purchased. The brakes have been occurring for years and there was no change when it was brought in for the recall. The most recent issue is now my EVAP system needs to be fixed. I can only imagine what that will cost to fix on a vehicle

4 months ago the display portrayed a message stating, trailer brake warning, have system checked. Since that time I have attempted on numerous to have my vehicle checked. But as of this date I have not been to have any dealership look at my vehicle. I have been told by dealership that the vehicle computer shows a history but no current error codes, and they can not work on vehicle until it has current codes. So I have a truck that is designed to tow cargo/vehicle but I am not able to use my truck for that purpose because of this warning message. I have contacted dealerships, customer service with GMC and even filed a complaint with tennessee dept of consumer affairs, but no one wants to help with my problem. I have noticed on the internet that I am not the only one with this issue.

It started happening a week or so ago where when in reverse or after switching from reverse to drive and trying to brake the pedal wouldn't compress, it was as if they were locking up on me. I would have to put most of my body weight on the pedal to even get the truck to stop, to the point where I almost ran into my neighbors car backing out of the driveway. It seemed to mainly happen at slower speeds, in both drive and reverse as it happened on more than one occurrence. Luckily I decided to take it to the GMC dealer before anything serious happened, but this is a huge safety concern and I feel it needs to be addressed. Brake pump went out almost ran into a pole. Reading online and see a lot of people having the same problem. Angry!!

Headlights are so dim, (high and low beam), that they should be considered a serious safety issue.

Headlights are not safe to be used in the dark. Driving on curvy, hilly roads is very dangerous. Can not see well. High beams barely different from low beams. Live in town so this was first time out on road at night. Scary. Can't imagine what it would have been like in rain or snow storm.

Steering Suddenly stops working when making a turn and have no control of the steering . Happen 3 times yesterday almost was in a accident. Then starts working again.

On tuesday, december 20th 2016 at approximately 7:15pm while driving south on new river road in Lincoln ri I tried to make a left turn onto a side street. When I turned the steering wheel left it was snatched out of my hands and the steering wheel automatically turned back to center it self. I could not maneuver the vehicle as it rolled up onto the sidewalk where I had to use the emergency brake to force the vehicle from rolling into a tree. The vehicle dic displayed "park assist" and afterwards the vehicle went completely dead...no lights or sounds when I tried turning the key to restart it. Used the remote start to warm the truck up. Got in and was leaving my driveway and the rear window exploded. Read defrost was on since we received 6+ inches on snow today.

I've been having transmission issues which cause harder shifting than usual. upon research, I found that the 2016 GMC Sierra's have a special coverage that replaced the transmission harness which throws the code P0711 for the temperature sensor and P0700 which is the generic transmission code. The only difference between my VIN and the VINs covered under this special coverage is that my Sierra is a 2015, everything else is the same down to the part number of the known faulty transmission harness.

GM issued a recall notice on July 1, 2021, regarding the rear curtain airbags in my Sierra. To this date (12/27/21), they have still not provided an ETA for getting this remedied. I called the dealership in September, to which they stated it would be another month before they could address it. I am wanting to be proactive to get this issue remedied, but the delay is unacceptable. I am escalating this to get some traction.

I bought this truck new in 4/2106 and there is a clicking sound when engine is running. Is this normal?
