I was driving 60mph with cruise on a state highway. When the car accelerated there was a noise I couldn't identify. I immediately pulled to the side of the road to investigate and the noise sounded like rocks grinding. I checked oil and it was full. When car was restarted the noise resumed. I turned off the car and it didn't start again. Towed to a garage and they said there were metal shavings in the oil and motor was locked up. 125k miles and regularly maintained. Engine was replaced at a cost of $4000.

While driving the car started to putter and then stalled while on the way to work. The vehicle engine is shot I am told by the mechanic I have used for 10 years now. Called the dealership about the issue and was advised I could have it towed in at my expense and have them look at it at my expense since the car is out of warranty. The dealership I am sure will say it is not due to faulty parts or any error on their part and I will have to have the vehicle towed again so $120 for towing and 79.99 plus tax for their assessment of the vehicle just to be told it is not their problem but I don't have much other choice.

Took car back to my mechanic and he replaced engine at a cost of $5466.28. The replacement engine was a 2014 with 13k miles. The car only had 107186 miles at time of incident.

The car has been having problems with oil consumption. The problem became known in 2022, but the dealer/service department (Frank Hyundai, National City, CA 91950) did not take care of the issue and did not care about safety. The dealer told me, "Your car is OK." On 7/3/2023, the engine light came on. A second round of oil consumption tests began along with a 90,000-mile service, including replacements of filter assy and gasket, four new tires and front and rear brakes, spark plugs, suspension/steering repair, shaft assy, engine repair, cooling system service, and fuel induction service. Shortly after, the car slows down even when my foot is on the accelerator. It feels as though the vehicle will stop. I can see the rpm gauge erratically going up and down. The car lurches or jerks. My sonata has started stalling and shutting down without warning. The first time it happed was dec 12th. I just finished accelerating from about 35mph to 60mph. There the vehicle made a loud thump and the engine shut down. Seconds later I lost power steering, dash lights, and headlights. The car restarted without issue. The same problem happened on dec. 16th while traveling at a constant 30mph. I experienced the same symptoms as before, except the vehicle did not shake or create a loud noise before shutting down. Mileage was at 75980. Temperature was in the 20's. I took the car do the dealership and they could not find anything wrong or recreate the problem. The third time this has happened was dec 29th. Check engine light on. Taken to hyundai dealership for recall repairs. At the time, 3 recalls on vehicle. Informed that check engine light was on due to recalls. Dealership kept car for 1½ weeks and notified me that 1 recall (filter) was not completed because parts are on back order. Dealership had me pick up vehicle and said that it is okay to drive car; however, after calling another Dealership, the Service rep informed me that cars should not be driven while engine filter recalls are open because it could potentially further damage vehicle. Vehicle has now been sitting in my garage for over 2 months and I'm making payments for a car I cannot drive.

My vehicle has a little over 16k miles on it and has stalled 4 times. Once after waiting at a light in the city, once while driving approx 10 MPH in a parking lot and the worst while trying to climb a steep hill in a rural area as I was leaving home. The car slowly rolled down the hill, I was able to maneuver backwards around the curves but there was no power. I almost got hit by other cars several times due to the blind curves. The car remains on but will not accelerate and it sounds like the engine has stopped. After it stalls,I turn the car off and it will not restart. The last time it turned back on after at least 30 minutes. Have had to have it towed twice. The first time the dealer said it was a loose grounding wire to the fuel pump. The second time they said they could not rep

The steering wheel on this car will lock or get stuck as I am operating the vehicle. It has happened at slow speeds as well as highway speeds and even happened in reverse once. It is intermittent and random but the frequency is increasing. On my first dealer visit 12/10/15 there was a code for the electronic steering which the dealer cleared and returned the car to me without making any repairs. The problem continued so the car was taken to a 2nd dealer who found a code pertaining to ECM overheating. Hyundai advised the dealer to clear the code and return the car to me. I filed a complaint with Hyundai customer care on 12/16/15 and received an acknowledgment email that a representative would contact me in 3-5 days. On 12/21 I contacted Hyundai customer care, explained the car wasnt s

Inside lighting of vehicle will not turn off. This interferes with night vision and also disturbs peripheral vision. This is like a passenger shining a flashlight into your eyes from the side. This is a very unsafe condition while driving at night.
